Chapter 22 Teaching you a lesson
TALIA POV
Zane held my wrist tightly and dragged me along as Liam watched without stopping him, I didn’t understand what was happening, was he angry, wasn’t I the one who was supposed to be upset, he left me alone at a grand party and went off to meet who knows who, yet now he was acting like I had done something wrong, he shoved me into the carriage like I weighed nothing and I gasped as I hit the seat, my breath uneven as I stared at him in disbelief.

“Why are you acting like this? Aren’t you the one who should be angry? You walked away and I was looking for you,” I asked, my voice strained.

“One,” he said coldly.

My brows pulled together in confusion as I stared at him, trying to understand what he meant, but he said nothing else, just sat there with his jaw tight and eyes forward.

“What does that even mean? Some rogues attacked me but Liam saved me, what’s there to get angry about?” I asked, frustration rising.

“Two,” he said again without looking at me.

My chest tightened, irritation and unease mixing together as I shifted in my seat, my fingers gripping the edge of my dress.

“Why are you counting? I’m talking to you,” I said, my voice sharper now.

“The more you talk, the harsher your punishment will be,” he muttered, his tone calm but dangerous.

I froze, his words settling heavily in my chest as silence filled the car, the rest of the ride passing in suffocating tension until the carriage finally stopped in front of the mansion. He stepped out first, then grabbed my wrist again and pulled me down roughly, my heel catching on the stone as I stumbled forward, but he didn’t slow down, he kept dragging me inside as the guards and maids stared, whispering quietly among themselves.

He didn’t stop until we reached our room, then he pushed the door open and dragged me inside before throwing me forward, I lost my balance and fell to the floor, pain shooting through my knees as the door slammed shut behind us.

“Kneel,” he ordered, his voice filled with anger.

I quickly pushed myself up, my hands trembling slightly as I knelt in front of him, my heart pounding hard against my chest, I had never seen him this angry before, his presence alone was suffocating.

He stepped closer, his eyes locking onto mine before his hand moved into my hair, gripping it firmly as he tilted my head up.

“Don’t you dare tell me what to do,” he said, his voice low and dangerous. “You are mine, my property, and you will do exactly as I say.”

My breath hitched, my fingers curling slightly against my lap as fear settled deep inside me.

The silence stretched between us, heavy and tense, before he released my hair abruptly and stepped back slightly.

“I’m going to punish you in a way that Liam will hear about it,” he said coldly.

My heart dropped at his words, confusion and fear mixing together as I stared at him.

“What does that even mean?” I whispered.
