CHAPTER EIGHTY FOUR

CHAPTER EIGHTY FOUR
{Lexi}
There was a strong and potent scent emanating from Isla as soon as she opened the door.
The first queer thing I noticed was the color of her hair. Isla had had green-colored hair for as long as I could remember, and then she had also had blue hair, but never red and never this flaming color.
She was also dressed in very skimpy clothes, and she did not look like the badass that I once knew, in fact, she looked like a slt.
Something was definitely wrong somewhere.
I felt like leaving the house as soon as I stepped in, I felt trapped by the bugging scent, and it was almost like the scent had a mind of its own. I couldn't explain it, but it did not feel right.
It felt as if I were sucked into the house as soon as she slammed the door shut.
The house seemed to be empty of people, which was strange because her mother ran her tattoo parlor downstairs, so it was always filled with customers, and she was always there working.
"Where's Sam?" I asked, gesturing to her empty workspace.
"Oh, she stepped out for home service," Isla said and turned to look at me. "You didn't come here to talk about her, did you?" She asked and offered me a drink, which I refused because I couldn't exactly handle alcohol well.
"Something feels different," I said. I couldn't contain the weird feeling I was getting any longer.
"Really?" she asked. "I know I've changed, but I didn't think I changed that much." She said and stood up from the couch.
She was acting weird like a drug addict when they were in need of the next fix, and I did not know what to make of her neck scratching and her weird actions.
I gasped as she turned her back to me, there was a huge tattoo drawn from her neck across her back, and it was weird because I didn't notice it when I first came in. It was an image of a great black wolf with yellow eyes.
Yellow eyes!
"Isla," I screamed and started shivering as I pointed to her back.
"Isla's not here anymore." She turned back to me and smiled.
It was definitely not her anymore, and her eyes were yellow.
Reyah had told me about something like this, it was called "witch's possession." A witch had possessed Isla with the help of a strong spell that required a sacrifice or a magic potion with a potent smell.
It all made sense now.
It was dark magic, I smelled dark magic immediately she opened the door, but I did not connect all the dots until the possession had been completed.
I had no idea who was speaking to me through Isla.
"Who are you?" I asked, trying hard not to show any fear and reciting phrases in my head that Reyah had taught me, or were they protective spells?
"I see you've learned some things." She said, and her eyes turned black.
I felt like life was being choked out of me, and I couldn't breathe.
"Isla, p-please, I c-can't breathe," I begged, my words coming out croaked.
"Isla can't hear you." Whoever had possessed her said and laughed evilly. "I have waited for this day for a long time."
Those were the last words I heard before the darkness enveloped me and I was lost.

It was getting harder to stay beside Lexi without mating her, my movements were so slow because I was literally walking with a stick in between my legs.
It was that hard, and it was constant.
The need to have her and claim her was so strong I could barely control my wolf. I knew that she was still unsure and not yet ready to become either my Luna or a witch, so I decided not to burden her before she was ready, and that was why I decided to wait till prom night to complete the mating process.
I had visualized everything in my head, she was a queen, and she deserved to be treated like one. I was going to book a room at a seven-star hotel in town. I would make sure that our room was overlooking the sea because she loved the sea. I would decorate the room in all white, and I would make sure there were a lot of white flowers to signal her purity.
For a romantic ambiance, there would be red flower petals all over the bed, it would trail a path from the door to the bedroom, we would have chocolate and champagne, and all the other things that I know would make her swoon.
She does not know this, but I've been working on a song just for her, to express how much I love her, and I would take my guitar and play her the song before the night was over.
I would make it the most memorable night of her life.
"Hey, concentrate," Mina yelled as a ball hit my head.
I snapped out of my thoughts just as the ball hit my head.
Washington DC was a beautiful place, I wondered why Lexi had been hesitant to come on the trip at first. We were currently at the beach playing volleyball. Miami beaches are renowned and world-class amazing, but it did not mean that Washington DC beaches were less pretty, especially Colonial Beach, where we currently were.
"Come on, your mate leaves for less than two hours and you can't stop thinking about her," Mina yelled when I missed the ball again.
"Yeah, suckers." Lex laughed at the other side of the net. "Mate, what do you mean by his mate?"
"I said, 'Babe, babe, his babe leaves.'" Mina smiled and used a British accent that I did not know where it came from.
"Oh, it's your accent thing again." Lex smiled and nodded his head in understanding. "Stop thinking about my sister and play." He shook his finger at me.
I held my breath throughout the whole exchange, I couldn't believe how cool, calm, and collected Mina had been. Even when she had slipped up, she just handled it immediately.
She was good.
I was starting to get an itch though, an uncomfortable one.
