Harlyn
"Why are you worrying again?"
Harry asked me. I turned to him and sighed. I couldn't reach Bernardo. I couldn't help but be worried. If everything was fine out there, then I should have been able to reach him. It was too silent in my head and I didn't like it at all.
I kept imagining things. Helaine and Harry told me that if her bite didn't kill him, it might change and that would make him more dangerous than he already was. What if that happened and now, he has become stronger than Bernardo and everyone else?
What if they can no longer defeat him? What if a repeat of what happened over two decades ago happens again? The thought of not being able to see Bernardo again kept me up on my feet. I couldn't even hide my worries.
"They will get him."
Harry encouraged me. I wish it was so easy to believe his words but right now, the only thing that will convince me will be to see my mate alive and well. To talk to him face to face. If that doesn't happen anytime soon, I might lose my mind.
I am so close to losing my mind already. Nothing was working as a distraction. They should have been here already. Once we arrived back at the pack, I made sure Helaine settled in and then I went out to wait for my mate.
Harry refused to let me stay out there waiting for him to show up so that's why I followed him back to Helaine's room. We couldn't even stay there and now; we were in the common room with the princesses who were just as worried for their brother as I was.
Helaine was worried too. The thought that she might have caused more trouble for the pack because of her actions made her worried. I assured her that everything would be fine and I needed to also take my own advice.
"Why aren't they back yet? It's been hours."
I lamented when I couldn't shut up anymore. Harry let out a deep sigh. I know the man was tired of me already. He walked to me and pulled me into a hug.
"You are worrying for nothing dear sister. I assure you that no one can defeat the alpha king."
He said, patting my shoulder softly. It was reassuring in a lot of ways. Knowing that I wasn't alone and that I had people around me to encourage me. I felt thankful that I found my siblings even though I didn't know they existed a few months ago.
That makes it even more amazing and meaningful. They both came into my life at a major turning point of my life and that counts as one of my biggest blessings this year. Right on the same level as meeting my mate, falling in love, and expecting my first child with the love of my life.
This year has been a blessing for me and I want it to continue that way. I didn't want any sad news to replace the happiness that this year has brought me. It has been win after win and I want this to be one of our biggest wins. It was our biggest fight. A fight that has been going on for decades.
"Oh! Really?"
I looked in Leah's direction when she spoke. She was up and looked excited. She wasn't holding a phone so I knew she was communicating with her mate.
"They are back and the king is going to hold a press conference to make a public announcement."
The princess announced. First, I let out a deep sigh of relief. They were back and safe.
"We should watch, it's going to be live."
Leah said and Harry walked away from me. He turned on the TV in the common room and tuned to the channel that was specifically made for the king's special announcements and events. I don't even know how he knew about the channel but I just assumed his mate told him.
"Ryan said it starts in ten minutes."
Leah announced. We all looked at her and I nodded in acknowledgment.
"I hope he is about to announce an end to all of this. I am so done. I just want my peaceful kingdom back. I hate the constant fear and the need to be careful."
Sophie let out. I felt what she said because I thought the same too. Some groups of people have been working hard behind the king's back to ruin a very peaceful kingdom. Hopefully, it will end tonight. I don't even mind if they get the dead sentence. Heck, I just want them to end in the cruelest way for all they did to the Crimson Moon for years.
"I agree. I have heard so much about the Crimson Moon and even before I found out that I had connections with the kingdom, I loved the kingdom and dreamt of coming here someday. Now that I am part of it, I want peace. I want to freely explore my father's land without fear."
Helaine said. She was right. There was so much we had to do. I might have been born and raised here but there's a lot of places I haven't been and a lot of things to see. Once everything with the Seans ends, we can finally be free to do whatever we want.
"I agree. Also, we should be focusing on the Luna's coronation and this should be a period of celebration. It should have been a period of celebration since the alpha king found his mate but some sicko made it hard to celebrate. I just want to party and be happy for my baby brother."
The oldest princess said. I pouted in sadness. Yeah, party. My big party. This time should be about me. Me! Luna. Queen. Healer. I am all of that and I should be celebrated.
"Don't worry, Luna. We are going to celebrate big time for you."
Princess Leah assured me and the others agreed.
"I should be celebrated too. I might not be the Luna but I can definitely be a stand-in."
Helaine joked and everyone laughed. We all turned our attention to the TV when an announcement came that the king would address the kingdom in two minutes.
