Chapter 156

Chapter 156

But all these days, William hadn't gone to see Shirley, not even a phone call to check on her.

This made John doubt whether Shirley was telling the truth about being with William.

Thinking about it this way, John got even angrier.

Shirley was lying to him again. Now Wendy had cut ties with the Moore family, and the marriage with Charlie was also canceled.

Shirley and William's relationship was fake too, and his company's future backing was gone.

Neither of his two daughters was any use.

Charlie had always liked Shirley. When he learned that Wendy no longer had any relationship with the Moore family, he was immediately delighted and said, "If you agree, I'm willing to marry Shirley."

Getting the marriage back on track was what he had always wanted to do.

John was surprised. He looked up at him with cloudy eyes, "What did you say? You want to marry Shirley?"

People would laugh at this marriage.

One daughter of the Moore family wouldn't marry, so they'd substitute the other daughter.

"Yes." Charlie said firmly.

John immediately refused, "No way."

But Lisa, beside him, tried to persuade, "I think it's fine. The two kids are well-matched. Besides, this marriage should have been Shirley's in the first place. Shirley is our biological daughter, why wouldn't it work?"

These past few days, she had seen through John's thoughts. Whatever was useless to him or had no benefit, he would give up without hesitation.

Since Shirley couldn't win William's affection, she had no use value to John.

Blood relations, biological daughter - none of it compared to the company's interests.

If Shirley married Charlie, at least it would protect her.

Seeing this, Charlie quickly added, "I truly like Shirley. If you're willing, Mr. Moore, I can have my father invest more."

Now John hesitated, "Let me think about it."

"Alright, I'll leave first then." Charlie stood up.

He still needed to find connections to get Shirley out.

He knew the opportunity had come. This time he would definitely marry Shirley.

On the other side, when Aurora received news that Mandy was also coming to Novaria, she tried hard to stop her.

But Mandy insisted on coming because she had discovered a huge secret.

"What exactly is so important that you have to come?" Aurora was unhappy.

She had been troubled lately by her rocky relationship with Tom, and now Mandy was adding to the chaos.

Mandy rolled her eyes at her and said, "You have some nerve to say that. I sent you here to follow William, but instead you're mixed up with unrelated people."

"Do you know that Edward brought Hannah here and is personally searching for Alice in secret?"

Now it was Aurora's turn to be shocked, "What?"

She had received no information about this.

"What do you know? This is such a big deal. If they really find Alice, just wait and cry. Also, I heard that some time ago they took Edward's blood for a paternity test, but I don't know who the other person was."

"But it seems they didn't get a match, would we still have good days? At the rate they're searching, we'll probably be kicked out of the Green family soon."

Mandy was the type who was never satisfied. Being able to give birth to Aurora in the Green family, living without worries in wealth for a lifetime,

was already a life ordinary people wouldn't dare dream of, yet she still wanted more things that didn't belong to her.

This was pure greed.

But Mandy was completely unaware of this. She stubbornly believed that having a child gave her the confidence to compete for the family fortune.

She also wanted Aurora to become the only child of the Green family.

But Mandy's ambition didn't match her abilities.

"What should we do now?" Aurora was quite panicked hearing this news.

She had been so focused on her romance lately that she hadn't seriously monitored the search for Alice.

"First find someone to check Edward's recent movements, then we'll make plans." Mandy pinched Aurora as if she were disappointed in her.

Aurora felt uncomfortable too. Tom had clearly said he would keep her updated on William's news,

but now she was so passive.

If they really found Alice, the Green family members would want to compensate her so much that giving her the entire Green family wouldn't be enough,

and then she would truly have nothing.

Now Evelyn had already started acting as Mrs. Ford,

and William surprisingly hadn't clarified, but instead kept sending Evelyn many gifts.

Even Harry started testing William, "Are you really in love with Evelyn?"

William didn't answer. He just lowered his eyes and took a puff of his cigar, the smoke blurring all his emotions.

Harry put down his brush, "If you really marry Evelyn, your uncle will definitely be more wary of you. What do you plan to do then?"

As an elder of the Ford family, he understood every member of it.

Every Ford family member wanted the Ford Group, wanted power, but the Ford Group wasn't something anyone could have just because they wanted it.

You had to have ability.

Currently, among the younger generation, the most capable was William.

If William married Evelyn, it could be said that it would make the Ford Group develop even better.

Christopher's Sterling Bank would definitely fully support William.

Then Tom and Robert would both compete for the Ford Group's inheritance rights, so William making Evelyn public now really wasn't a good choice,

unless William was planning something bigger.

Harry narrowed his eyes. This grandson of his was becoming harder and harder to read.

But Harry didn't mind. As long as it was good for the Ford Group,

whatever plans William made, he would fully support.

"I have my own plans. Grandpa doesn't need to worry." William said.

"I'm confident in you. Your father happens to be home tonight, go say hello." Harry was worried sick about their father-son relationship.

William nodded and walked out of the study, running into Zachary.

"William, why are you back?" Zachary said happily.

Since Wendy's tutoring had been effective, Zachary's grades had improved dramatically.

He had found joy in studying and had become eager to learn.

William asked, "How's your studying lately?"

Zachary raised his head proudly, "Wendy teaches so well. Don't worry about me. I'll definitely get into Northridge University."

This had become his goal, especially after learning that Wendy had successfully secured national funding for her own research project.

His determination to study hard became even stronger.

"Is Wendy still teaching you?" William raised an eyebrow.

He had thought Wendy would be too busy to manage Zachary lately.

"Of course! Wendy messages me every day to supervise my studying. I can ask her whenever I have questions." Zachary nodded.

William pressed, "She replies to all of them?"

Zachary didn't know what William meant by this question. He just nodded blankly, "Yeah, no matter how late it is, she always replies. Sometimes she even calls to teach me."

William gritted his teeth secretly. She never replied to the messages he sent.

Zachary didn't notice William's darkening expression and continued talking, "Last time, to teach me a math problem, we video chatted until after 2 AM. Wendy is really so great..."
