Chapter 33 You need to leave!
Grace
I stood there completely dazed while the words kept ringing in my head.
“You’re nothing but a trophy that I own and display to the world. You’re only good for my pleasure!”
It’s not something new because I already know he doesn’t love me and only wants our marriage for business. Still, it felt so painful hearing him say the words out loud.
I was so hurt that tears immediately welled up in my eyes but I fought them back. I didn’t want to cry, not in his presence. I could feel my legs shaking as the weight of the words had now settled all over my body. Without thinking twice, I turned and ran out of the room.
“Where the heck do you think you’re going? Who gave you the right to leave?” He yelled after me but I didn’t stop.
I kept running till I was in the garden, in my favorite hidden spot. I fell to the ground and finally burst into tears. I’d kept it in for so long and now that I was finally out, it came all rushing and I couldn’t even control it at a point.
I cried my heart out till my eyes ran out of tears and even my head started to ache. I heard some sound behind me and that made me quickly turn, thinking it was Matt still after me.
I’d already cried out the pain and now ready to face him but then, I turned and it was Theo standing there.
He looked shocked and confused but the moment he saw my swollen face, he immediately ran to me. He pulled me up from the ground and hugged me tightly. I wanted to tell him what happened but he stopped me before I could even start.
“No, not now. You need to calm down first.” He whispered and I stayed still.
We both stayed that way till I was finally calm. He then slowly released me and then stared into my eyes.
“Is it Matt? Did he hit you?” He asked while I shook my head and then went on to explain all what went down.
I could see as anger spread all over his face. If Matt was there, they would probably get into a fight.
“I’m so sorry, Grace, that was totally unacceptable and you shouldn’t be going through that. I’m already working on something and it’s looking good. You will soon be free from him.” He assured me and I believed him.
“I really can’t wait to finally be with you with no fear at all.” I muttered under my breath while he cupped my cheeks and we both stared in each other’s eyes.
Things somehow got intense and before we knew what was happening, we had already locked lips and kissing passionately.
We were so engrossed and had totally forgotten everything happening around us. Not until we heard s sudden roar behind us that we quickly pulled apart. We looked up and to our greatest surprise, it was Matt.
He had just caught us kissing and he definitely figured Theo was the man I was hiding and protecting.
“You bastard Theo!” Matt roared again and before I could even say a word, he rushed towards us.
I thought he was coming for me and quickly moved back but he was actually targeting his brother. He jumped at Theo who seemed ready as well and they both started fighting.
It was such an ugly scene as both went really hard at each other. I got scared at a point and tried to pull them apart but I couldn’t. I was even scared of moving close to them out of fear of getting hit. That was how fierce their fight was.
I was about to call for help when Evelyn and Henry suddenly appeared. My heart immediately sank as I knew things had just escalated. Everything was about to come to the open and I feared what the outcome would be.
The two didn’t notice their parents but it took just one word from Henry to fix that. They stopped immediately and got up.
Some of the staff had gathered around then but Evelyn quickly sent them away.
“We are having a family meeting right now!” Henry tired angrily and then walked off. We all hurried after him and settled in the private meeting room.
They usually meet in the room when important things are being discussed. That way, it remains a secret and never gets out.
An intense fight like that would have started a scandal if leaked to the public, and with our wedding on the way, it would have been messy for the family. That was why Evelyn didn’t just the staff away, she made sure to threaten them. I was shocked though as that was the first time I was seeing that side of him. And that made me understand what Theo meant when he said I didn’t really know her and what she’s capable of.
Matt was the one who narrated everything that went down. He added a lot of lies and I wasn’t even allowed to correct it.
“You need to leave, Theo. If this gets out, it will ruin the family and we can’t let that happen. You’re obviously the problem here so you need to leave quietly while Matt and Grace go on with the wedding.” Henry let out and I almost couldn’t believe my ears until I heard Theo’s response.
“I’ll leave,” he replied…
