Chapter 93 093
Amy's POV
I stayed at home waiting for Damien while he and his beta went out to check on the problem they had in the pack. It was getting late and I was anxious. I thought they might have encountered another problem that would stop them from getting back on time.
Most importantly, I wanted to find out if anyone else was in danger because of me. It just made me restless and unhappy to know that all of this could have been prevented if I wasn't in the picture. I'm being watched even though I'm still with Damien.
I know Damien is powerful enough to save himself if he runs into trouble but that's still too bothersome for me. He's not going to be lucky all the time. I continued to wait until i fell asleep on the couch while waiting for him in the living room.
When I opened my eyes, I found myself in my room and it was already morning. I almost jumped out of bed seeing how much I fell asleep when I was supposed to be at alert. I felt so stupid thinking about how I wanted to protect Damien but being able to do nothing at the end.
I rushed downstairs after dressing up to check on him and found him setting up the dining table. I almost jumped and slipped, but I maintained my balance. I went out to check if I was in the right place or if I magically teleported to another universe where Damien is a different person.
But everything turned out to be very wrong. I wasn't in another universe but with Damien, the same Damien I knew about. I slowly moved towards him to see if anything was wrong or maybe this was an intruder disguised as Damien.
"Who the hell are you? I'm going to call for help right now if you don't move away!" I threatened him almost immediately.
He stopped and looked at me, "Am I really that unreasonable that you don't think it's me doing all this for you?"
"For me? You wouldn't even do this for yourself, are you possessed by a time traveler or something? Do you have a tragic ending coming?" I questioned him, according to my knowledge of time travelers.
He stopped and turned to me. I wanted to run away but he pulled me close to him. My body crashed into his, I fully inhaled his scent. His body was so nice to touch, his scent was exactly the same. Then, it's definitely Damien holding me.
"You're being a little too obvious that you think differently about me. It's my first time learning to do all these things. I thought you would like them and they'll put you in a good mood."
He looked at the table and sighed, "I guess you don't want them. I'll toss everything away, just tell me what you want."
"Wait, don't!" I stopped him. "You did all this for me and you're not even going to let me taste it?"
He frowned, "I thought you didn't like them. I'm going to kill the one who gave me this idea—"
"Alpha Damien!" I cut him off, "What the hell goes on in that head of yours? Do you only have thoughts about killing people all day?"
He still has a long way to go. With this kind of attitude, his men are going to be scared of him all the time if he keeps threatening to kill all of them just because of some small mistake.
Besides, this wasn't a mistake. I'm just surprised to see him do something like this. Why is the person who brought this idea going to suffer for it?
“You said you didn't like what I'm doing, so I was thinking of doing that to the person who gave me this idea because it's not worth it if you don't like it,” he said to me.
I shook my head. “Of course I like it. I don't know why you suddenly make assumptions just because of my expressions. You haven't done this before, so I'm bound to be surprised. What if it's someone catfishing you?”
He nodded. “Oh, I see. I thought you didn't like it.”
“Well, now that you know that I do, you should serve me something, right?” I asked him.
I had to do that before he changed his mind and got on a killing spree. It was already good enough that he was cooking, and I'm not sure how his food is going to taste since he hasn't done this business before.
Whoever is giving him all these ideas makes me feel happy. It's just that he actually cares about me and wants to know my opinion on things.
I don't know why I slept off yesterday. I could have seen him doing all the cooking, and I slept for a long time. I guess I have to partly blame my pregnancy for all of this. I would have gone to the hospital to do some check-up, but now that it's not safe for me, I have to stay at home and whine all the time.
He served the food to me, and I didn't know if I should immediately start eating it because I wasn't sure if it was poison or just going to be plain. But I had to give it all since he did this for me. There's no harm in eating it.
My eyes widened immediately I tasted the food. It wasn't what I expected at all. It tasted good… really good. I stared at him, almost confused. “You actually made this?”
He raised a brow. “Do you think I stole it from someone?”
“No,” I said quickly. “I just… didn’t think you could cook.”
He looked offended for a second but tried to hide it. I felt embarrassed. I kept eating because it made him calm down, and I didn’t want him to start thinking nonsense like killing the person who gave him the idea again.
“You won't know because I don't usually do this for people. However, I do know how to cook. When I was younger, it took me time to get used to eating other people's food other than my parents.”
“I had to rely on myself to cook what I wanted because I couldn't trust anyone at that time,” he explained. “I only stopped doing it when I got surrounded by the people I trusted.”
I didn't even know he had another backstory with cooking like this. I guess there's a lot I still need to know about him, and I should stop judging him based on hearsay.
“I didn't know about that. I'm sorry if I offended you,” I apologized without knowing it.
He shook his head. “As long as you enjoy the food, nothing else matters to me.”
While eating, something else came to my mind. “When did you come home yesterday? I waited all night.”
His jaw tightened a little, but he tried to act normal.
“It was late yesterday when I came,” he answered.
“I fell asleep on the couch,” I continued quietly. “When I woke up, I was already in bed. Did you carry me upstairs?”
He nodded. “You looked tired. I didn't want to wake you up.”
I pressed my lips together. I wanted to ask more, but I also didn’t want to annoy him. Still, I needed to know. There's no way I would be at peace knowing all the things that happened because of me.
“How did things go yesterday? With the attack… and the people who got hurt? What happened?”
“Nothing much happened. You don't have to worry about it,” he replied to me again.
But the way he looked clearly showed that something was happening, and he didn't want to tell me about it. So I tried to press for more information, but his answer was definitely going to be the same.
“I told you not to worry about it,” he replied again. “Why don't you just eat and get some rest? You're going to need it a lot, and I'll ask the doctor to check on you later.”
I didn't ask him anything else after that. We managed to eat in silence, and I still was very happy he cooked for me. However, I saw that a lot of problems were still bothering him, and he didn't want to tell me. So I pretended not to care anymore. After I was done eating, he stopped me from helping with the dishes.
“The servants would do it. You should just go and rest and not think about anything else. It's important for you and the baby.”
I didn't say anything else and went into the room.
Something was definitely going on, and he is refusing to tell me because he knows I'll be worried. Could it be that there were more casualties than we thought?
