Chapter 86 086
Amy's POV
I gave Damien the opportunity to beat Brian up, he's going to trust that I have nothing to do with Brian anymore right? I got so anxious when he kept insisting on taking me with him. This shows that he has no regards whatsoever for Damien and that's annoying.
Now I understand why Damien is always angry. I think I might have to rethink my opinions about him. He would have killed any other person that dared this with him but he didn't, because he was considering my feelings. He might not be completely heartless after all.
He must be angry to be misunderstood all the time. If someone came to do something like this in my territory more than once, I'll be giving them something to cry about for the rest of their lives. Damien was losing it yet he didn't want to offend me. This means that I have to do something for him.
Since he's always so nice and considerate of me, I can't let his efforts go to waste. I finally see that he's always been this way and maybe he was mean to me because he didn't know how else to express his feelings. Everyone knows he grew up without his parents, he was raised by a butler who died many years ago.
He was just a boy when he had to take on the responsibility of being the Alpha of the pack. He had to endure a lot to get to where he was but we suddenly got rumors about him. It circulated everywhere that he was cruel, cold and hateful. Everyone named him the demon or devil Alpha. I always had that stereotype against him and never wanted to be close to him.
But guess who ended up right in his arms, and fell in love with him? Thinking about this makes me feel like I'm so ridiculous. Should I actually believe in rumors than what I see next time? Surely, I know what the answer is by now. I have to teach him, since he can't do it on his own. We're raising a child together anyway.
"My lady, lunch is ready." Someone came in, breaking into my thoughts.
I turned around and it was one of the servants. However, she looked very different from all the ones I've seen in the mansion so far. Maybe she's part of the new hires. There's already so many people, why does Damien keep hiring more?
"You're new here, aren't you?" I asked her bluntly.
She immediately looked down, fidgeting on her fingers like she got caught doing something she shouldn't be doing. I don't understand why she's so nervous seeing me. Is this because of how Damien instructed them?
"I asked you a question. You don't want to answer?" I asked her again. "That's not how other people call me, did you think I wouldn't notice?"
She shook her head, "I'm so sorry my lady. I shouldn't have kept quiet. I'm new here and I don't know how things work. I'm sorry to offend you. I really—"
I immediately stopped her from apologizing further. If she keeps apologizing, it's going to look like I'm doing a lot of evil to her which I'm certainly not trying to do.
"That's enough. You don't have to apologize anymore. I'll be down." I said to her.
"Thank you my lady."
I watched her leave because I didn't want to frighten her more. I think she might learn soon from the others but I want to talk to Damien about hiring more people, I don't think it's necessary for him to keep doing that.
I changed into something else and headed downstairs. When I got halfway towards the stairs, I suddenly slipped and lost my balance. My mind panicked at that moment but my subconsciousness was faster than me. I immediately grabbed the railings, holding on as I heard a strain on my legs.
What the hell just happened here? I looked down after calming myself down and found some oil on those stairs. Which servant is so careless and stupid enough to do something that could get them killed?
Unless someone is actually after my life and doing this to me on purpose. I tried to get down with my remaining strength though it wasn't easy at all. I got downstairs and heaved a sigh of relief. Who's trying to harm my baby?
I saw a maid pass by. "Can you help me clean the staircase, there's oil all over."
Her eyes widened, "Oh my goodness! Luna, are you okay? Is the baby okay?"
She looked like she was genuinely worried about me so it couldn't have been her who did it.
I nodded, "I'm fine. I'll find out who did this, just get that cleaned. Thank you."
I headed towards the dining table where he was already waiting for me. I didn't know what to think for a moment. He looked so handsome and harmless at the same time. Honestly, he looks completely opposite to his character.
"You're here... Have a seat." He said, pointing towards the seat.
I just stared at him and shook my head. He hasn't even learned to be a gentleman so I won't argue with him. I took a seat, ready to eat as another servant served our food.
"What are you thinking about?" He asked as he noticed I was staring into space.
I don't know if telling him the truth would be right because I'm afraid he might physically try to kill everyone who was supposed to help me but didn't.
"Nothing serious. I just wondered why we needed more servants when there's already over a hundred beside the warrior guards here." I replied to him, changing the subject.
He shrugged, "You need more attendance in my opinion. And you're calling them our servants now. Does this mean you're accepting me?"
I scoffed, "Are you seriously asking me about that now? There's a life at stake."
"What life?" His eyes changed asking me this, then I realized I messed up by talking about it when I didn't want to.
I don't know if I should tell him this right now or if I get to change the subject because he already knows that something is up.
"You keep recruiting a lot of people. Who knows if you've recorded the enemy spy in your place?" I fired at him.
He shook his head again looking at me in disbelief, "No, I didn't. I never hired new people."
Wait what? Then who's the new girl?
