Chapter 71 071
Damien's POV
"Have a seat." I pointed towards the chair in my study.
Gamma Raymond looked around without sitting for a moment. I waited patiently for him as he kept looking around. Maybe he is interested in something from my study. After a while of waiting, he finally sat down, staring at me with no words. I guess he's waiting for me to make the first move.
"Do you want to talk about the pregnancy and who she should stay with? You know better than anyone that she's safer with me than with you." I said to him.
He scoffed, "Alpha Damien, my daughter wouldn't be like that if you didn't rush to make her that way. She wouldn't also be exposed to the world if you had stayed away from her."
"She's my mate. I can't ignore her no matter what anyone says. She's supposed to be mine."
He banged the table angrily, "Have you ever thought of anything other than claiming her as yours? Have you ever thought about her safety and her life? Do you have any idea how difficult it is for two pure lycans to form a baby and give birth to one?"
She's a pure lycan? But according to what I can see, her parents are not lycans at all. They look like normal wolves and that's just it. Could it be that there's more secrets to this than I know?
"I never knew she was a lycan when I first met her. I just wanted to be with her but she wouldn't agree. Right now I'm looking for ways to save her life even if it means getting rid of the baby." I explained to him.
He sighed, "I never thought a day would come when I would have to tell you this. But you have to protect her, because she's the only one left of her lineage."
I frowned trying to understand what he just said. She's the only one left of her lineage? But I'm a pure lycan too. Both my parents are lycans, it's just a long story that they're not here with me anymore.
"What does that mean? Are you telling me she's not your daughter?" I questioned him.
He nodded, "She's my daughter because I raised her since she was a baby and she has always been with us. However, I'm not her real father because you can see none of us are lycans, except for her."
He's actually telling the truth and I don't know how to accept this right now. If it's hard for me to accept, how hard would it be for her? What is she supposed to do with the news that her own family are not her real family? Where is she supposed to find the real ones?
"Do you think I deserve to know this? Wouldn't she be mad at you're telling me instead of her?" I asked him knowing fully well that she would be mad if she indeed finds out that I got to know the secret of her birth before her.
He didn't look like he was scared of her reactions to me finding out before her I think the most thing is worried about is telling her the truth you hit telling me first so that I can tell her on his behalf.
"If you're turning me this so that I can tell her I think you're wrong. If there's anyone who should tell her this, it's you guys. She should hear everything from you. You've been hiding it long enough. She's an adult now and she can definitely take everything. Tell her about her origin so she stops misunderstanding you."
He sighed, "I'm going to tell her everything later. That's why I wanted to take her home. But now that I found out what happened to her, I think it's still better she stays with you since security here is much better than my place."
They finally realized that I'm the best person that can protect her. I don't know why it took them so long to see it. Everything I'm doing is not just to keep her for myself but to protect her. She's very stubborn and hard to keep. I'm exhausting all my patience just to keep her beside me.
"I think you finally get it. They won't get close to her as long as I'm here." I assured him.
He didn't look very much convinced and I still didn't understand what he wanted, aside from the assurance that I will take care of her.
"I still don't trust you around my daughter because of your behavior. How do I know you're not going to hurt her again?"
"I'm not going to hurt her. I told you I only want to have by my side and nothing more. As long as she stays with me, there will be no reason for unnecessary things happening between us."
He suddenly grabbed me by the color of my shirt, "My daughter is not a commodity you can just keep beside you like a decoration. If you want my daughter to be with you you better but you had the right way. Stop forcing her."
"But I'm not forcing her, did she say I was forcing her?"
"What you're doing is scaring her off and she will never come to love you if you keep doing this. I'm going to wait till her baby is born and I'll take her away myself. I won't endanger her now that she has a baby. But you shouldn't think that I'll let us stay with someone as heartless as you forever. All this patience is for the baby and Amelia." He added.
I didn't know what to say to him exactly. Even though I've heard people say this to me so many times, I didn't realize it will be there something I hated until now that he said it. Is my method really so wrong that she's not going to love me at all? This is how I've always been and I have tried to compromise myself so many times for her. Is it still not working?
"Seems like you have a lot to think about. I'll be going now, but I'll be coming to check on her. I'll also investigate the rogues who attacked her." He said before going out. "Think about what I said. I'll tell her about her origins myself. But that will be the next time I come here."
He left the study and I followed him outside. I was met with Amelia and her mother having a discussion. When I got there, she looked very annoyed to see me. I went out of my way to give them an invitation to come here, only because I didn't want her to get into trouble. I also wanted her to rest a little bit because of her condition. I didn't know she would take it this way as part of my attempts to control her.
"Mom, dad, are we finally going home now?" She asked, deliberately looking at me.
Her father shook his head, "I'm sorry darling but we can't go home now. You have to stay here for protection while we investigate what is going on. I promise you once it is sorted out, you will come home with me even if the baby isn't born yet."
"You're letting me stay? Then, you should take care of yourselves. I don't want anyone to get hurt." She replied him.
Her mother hugged her, "Silly girl. You should worry about yourself and your baby more. Don't worry about us, focus on getting well and having a safe delivery. We'll be fine."
Watching all of them speak to each other as a family made me somehow uncomfortable. I couldn't say it out because I didn't want to irritate her. I was starting to listen to her father who said my ways are not enough to win her heart. I've never heard my family gather around me like this.
I've always been a leader and never had liberty so actually have anyone worry for me. It won't be surprising if I was to die now and she didn't care. I just want to have her around me and I'll do anything to keep on my side. Because that's how I genuinely feel, I only want her. Not even the baby can break my feelings for her.
"We'll be taking our leave now. Take care of yourself and don't worry. We're going to tell your brother everything, and also Stacy. We'll tell you about the things you want to know later. I promise you." Her dad informed her.
She smiled, "it's okay dad. We're going to see each other in a few days anyway, and I can come visit you whenever I want to. Don't worry about me, take care of yourselves."
Lucas came to take them away and she followed them outside. I watched as she talked to them and also weaved them goodbye. Then she walked towards the house with a smile on her face. I guess she's happy that she solved the problem of running away and the pregnancy with her parents.
The sunlight cast a glow on her face and I couldn't help how mesmerizing she looked at that moment. Her face was so smooth and her features look softer. I was lost staring at her with the beautiful smile that was on her face. Is this what it feels like to see her happy?
"She's really beautiful."
