Chapter 10 Ten
Damien’s POV
The sun had not yet touched the sky, but I was already awake.
She was sleeping beside me. Her breathing was soft, and her body curled up like a kitten. I watched her like I had all the time in the world. I had moved her here, to my own room, after she passed out in the study. There was no way I would leave her on that cold table. She deserved softness. My bed. My sheets. My warmth.
Amelia.
Even her name made something dangerous stir in me.
She was mine now.
She might not know it yet—might still think she has a choice—but she doesn’t. I don’t care what I have to do. I will keep her beside me. Even if it means forcing her. Even if it means burning the whole damn world down.
I brushed a strand of hair away from her face gently. Her skin was soft, and her lips slightly parted as she breathed. I smiled. This peaceful version of her made me want to pull her close and never let go. But I also knew she wasn’t the type to just stay quietly. Not unless I gave her a reason.
A strong one.
She started to stir just as the light broke into the room. Her eyes blinked open slowly, and her body shifted under the sheets.
Her sleepy voice broke the silence. “Why am I…?”
She looked around, clearly confused. Then her eyes widened when she realized she was in a different room.
“You brought me here?” she asked, sitting up quickly and pulling the sheets over herself.
“Of course. I couldn’t let you sleep in the study like some toy I threw away after playing with.”
She frowned deeply and looked down. Her hands clutched the sheets tighter.
“I have to go,” she said softly, swinging her legs off the bed.
“Go where?” I asked, leaning against the headboard and watching her.
“Back home,” she said firmly, not looking at me. “If my father finds out I was gone all night, he’ll kill me.”
I stood up slowly, stretching. “So what?”
She turned to me sharply. “So what? Are you crazy? He’s a Gamma. Everyone respects him. If he finds out I was with someone like you—”
“Someone like me?” I raised an eyebrow. “Say it properly, Amelia. Someone your father hates? Someone your pack sees as dangerous?”
“Yes!” she snapped, and then bit her lip like she regretted it.
I walked over to her slowly. She backed up a little until her back hit the bedpost. I leaned in, placing one hand beside her head.
“Then maybe you should think twice before running off to random strangers at parties darling,” I whispered.
She trembled slightly but didn’t speak. I could feel her heart beating fast, and her scent wrapped around me like a drug.
“I didn’t know who you were you jerk,” she muttered.
“You still don’t,” I told her, brushing her hair back. “But you’re starting to find out.”
She looked down, trying to hide her fear or maybe confusion. I could tell she was torn inside. Part of her hated me. Another part was scared of how she felt around me. I liked that. She’s going to love me one day and I know it.
“Whatever you say. I have to go back home now. I don’t care what you think.”
I leaned closer to her ear. “You’re not going anywhere today. I’ll tie you up if I need to.”
“What?” she gasped, pulling back.
“You heard me,” I said calmly. “You’re staying with me. At least for now.”
“No, I can’t do that! Damien, you don’t understand—”
“I understand perfectly. And I’m telling you, Amelia… stay.”
“I can’t!” she almost cried out. “We never agreed I’ll spend the day with you! I’ve got a life! Besides, I’ll get in trouble you bastard! You don’t know what it’s like in my family. My father will—”
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. I turned my head toward it and frowned. My senses already told me who it was.
Lucas.
“What is it?” I asked without opening the door.
Lucas’s voice came through. “There’s a Gamma outside. Says he’s here to see you. Sent by his Alpha. He’s from the Red Moon Pack.”
My eyes slowly turned to Amelia. Her face went pale in an instant. She looked like her soul had left her body.
“No,” she whispered. “That’s my father. That’s definitely him. I’m in trouble! Does he know I’m here?”
I shrugged, “Who knows? Maybe it’s just a coincidence.”
I chuckled quietly, amused by the coincidence. She looked at me with panic all over her face.
“Damien, please,” she whispered, stepping forward and grabbing my arm. “Don’t let him see me. Don’t let him know I’m here. Please… I’m begging you.”
I stared down at her. Her small hands were gripping me like I was her last hope. She looked too beautiful for me to ignore and I can’t tell if she’s doing this on purpose. For a second, I wanted to just say yes. But that wasn’t enough. I wanted her obedience. Her full submission. Her loyalty.
So I stayed silent, watching her frown.
“Damien,” she called again, her voice shaking. It looked like she would strangle me if she got the chance to. “Fine, I’ll do anything. I’ll listen. I’ll stay. Just don’t tell him I’m here. You know what will happen if he finds out!”
“Anything?” I asked, tilting her chin up with my finger.
She swallowed hard and nodded slowly. “Yes. I swear.”
I smiled. “Then prove it. Don’t try to sneak out today. Don’t argue with me. Don’t act like you’re going back to your old life. Because if you do…”
I leaned in closer.
“I’ll make sure your father finds out exactly where you were last night. I’ll also report you to the Alpha of the pack, tell him about your missing wolf, and explain how your family’s been covering for you.”
Her eyes widened in terror.
“You wouldn’t…”
“I would,” I whispered. “In a heartbeat.”
Tears welled up in her eyes, but she nodded anyway. “Okay. I’ll stay. I won’t go. Just… please don’t report my father.”
“I have no reason to report him,” I said with a shrug. “As long as you behave.”
“I said I’ll behave. Stop threatening me with this. I’m just trying to protect my family from you.”
She sat down on the bed again, hands shaking slightly. I know she must be burning with hatred right now but she’s well behaved than before. I walked to the door, but before I opened it, I looked at her one more time.
“Stay in this room. Don’t come out until I say so.”
She nodded quickly, eyes full of fear and confusion.
I opened the door and stepped out, closing it behind me. Lucas stood at the end of the hallway, waiting.
“Where is he?” I asked.
“In the living room,” he replied.
I walked downstairs calmly, my expression unreadable. When I entered the room, the man stood stiffly, arms crossed. His eyes were hard and cautious.
Gamma Ronald, from the Red Moon Pack.
So this was the father of the girl trembling upstairs.
He bowed slightly. “Alpha Damien.”
“Gamma Ronald,” I greeted him with a half-smile. “To what do I owe the honor?”
He looked like he didn’t want to be here. “My Alpha sent me to deliver a message. That’s all.”
“No tea? No small talk?” I asked, still smiling.
“I won’t stay long,” he replied coldly. “Just passing the message.”
I nodded slowly. “How loyal of you. Doing errands personally for your Alpha?”
He didn’t respond to that. Just reached into his coat and handed me a sealed letter. I took it and examined the seal.
Interesting.
“I see,” I said, tucking it away without opening it. “Anything else?”
“No,” he said sharply. “And I’d rather not stay longer than I have to. Your… reputation makes this visit uncomfortable.”
I laughed quietly. Of course it does.
“Safe journey, then,” I said, stepping aside.
He gave a small nod and walked past me without another word. He didn’t know. He had no idea his daughter was just upstairs. In my bed. Wearing nothing but my scent.
I almost laughed again. Once the front door closed, I turned to Lucas.
“Keep watch,” I ordered. “If anyone else from her pack comes sniffing around, I want to know before they knock.”
“Yes, Alpha.”
I climbed back up the stairs, not in a hurry. Every step felt satisfying. When I returned to the room, Amelia was sitting at the edge of the bed, hugging her knees.
“He’s gone,” I said simply.
She looked up, her eyes wide. “Did he… say anything?”
“Nothing important. Just an errand.”
She let out a shaky breath and leaned back against the wall. “Thank you,” she whispered.
I walked to her and crouched in front of her. “Remember your promise.”
She nodded. “I won’t go anywhere you psycho.”
I reached up and brushed her cheek. “Good girl.”
“I’ll kill you one day, I promise.” She threatened me.
I smiled, pulling her close. “I look forward to it, darling.”
Even if I had to trap her with fear, with secrets, or with desire—I would never let her go. She belonged to me now. And I always get what’s mine.
