Lumina City.
Crystal Starlight Hotel.
James Smith rode his electric bike to the Crystal Starlight Hotel, known as the "place of passion," to deliver takeout.
Today was Jennifer Johnson's birthday. After delivering the last order of the morning, James could finally go on a date with his girlfriend.
Excited, James carried the takeout and walked towards the Crystal Starlight Hotel.
At that moment, a young couple walked out of the elevator hand in hand.
The man was dressed in an Armani shirt, wearing a Rolex watch, and had a BMW keychain around his waist.
The woman looked seductive in a mini skirt with fair thighs and a dash of blush.
They cling to each other, occasionally teasing and flirting, behaving intimately.
"Jennifer!"
Seeing this scene, James couldn't believe his eyes and hurried over excitedly.
Jennifer told James last night she was going to the movies with her best friend and wouldn't return.
James never expected to meet her at the Crystal Starlight Hotel.
Jennifer's expression altered as she heard James's voice. She tried to break away, but the man beside her held her tightly.
"What are you afraid of?"
"Do you want to get back with this poor guy?"
The man holding Jennifer was not tall but rather petite in stature.
If it weren't for his luxurious attire, he probably wouldn't attract a glance from any girl in the crowd.
Jennifer's eyes briefly flickered, losing her previous fear and revealing only endless indifference.
"James, since you've found out, I'll be blunt. Your girlfriend is with me now!"
The man holding Jennifer was Michael Brown, James's classmate.
Unlike James, Michael was a famous second-generation rich kid in class.
James staggered back a few steps, his face turning pale.
Ignoring Michael, he reached out to Jennifer.
"Jennifer, let's go back! I can make you happy."
"Don't touch me!" Jennifer pushed his hand away. "I’m not going back with you. The phone I want, the bag I desire, you can't afford any of it. You must even wait for my birthday before taking me to a movie. How can you make me happy?"
"Jennifer, I may be poor now, but I'll work hard!" James said through gritted teeth.
"You're an orphan without money, power, or background. Even if you deliver takeout for a lifetime, you can't compare to a single hair of Mr. Brown. Your efforts are like a joke," Jennifer sneered.
"Wake up, James. She won't go back with you to deliver takeout." Michael joined in the mockery.
"James, I've wanted to tell you for a long time that you don't deserve me. Let's break up!" Jennifer said coldly.
She then turned to Michael with a coquettish smile. "Mr. Brown, let's go."
After that, Jennifer wrapped her arm around Michael.
Michael disdainfully looked at James and said coldly, "Poor people don't deserve love, do you understand?"
Later, Michael led Jennifer toward a BMW parked outside the hotel.
James watched Jennifer's departing figure. His heart twisted in anger, pain, and helplessness. "Michael, even if you're rich, you can't humiliate me like this!"
James stood with his head down, his fists tightly clenched until his nails bled his palms.
He met Jennifer in college and they started dating during their first class outing. Back then, Jennifer was still innocent.
But now she betrayed him and chose to be with Michael.
James didn't try to win her back or chase after her. He was poor and felt unworthy of competing with Michael.
He had seen Jennifer's true colors.
She often humiliated him over the past two years about his lack of money.
Yet, he never said a word and worked tirelessly delivering food to support her.
But now, she secretly saw a rich second generation behind his back.
"Jennifer, for the humiliation you've shown me today, I will make you regret it one day," James said with determination.
The University of Lumina, cafeteria.
James's roommate, Paul White, tried to console him. "James, let it go. I've always told you that Jennifer isn't from our world. She's beautiful, hot, and knows how to seduce men. She's not a decent woman."
"They say a poor man's goddess is just a rich man's toy. Women like her, with their long legs and big boobs, are just for rich guys. We poor guys should stay out of it, or we'll end up betrayed."
"Besides, you've slept with her, so you're not at a loss."
"I haven't slept with her," James said.
"No way! You've been together for years and you haven't slept with her? Don't you book hotel rooms when you go out to watch movies?"
Paul jumped up, looking regretful.
"We booked standard double rooms and nothing happened," James explained.
"No way! You're missing out!"
James thought about it and realized he might have been at a loss.
However, James genuinely liked and respected Jennifer, so he never forced anything on her.
At that moment, James glanced at the order message on his phone. Perhaps the only benefit of breaking up was that he could finally stop delivering takeout!
Just then, his phone beeped, showing a text message.
[$1,000,000,000.00 has been credited to your account, with a balance of $1,000,0056.00!]
James stared at the message, his eyes wide with disbelief.
Who had transferred a billion dollars into his account?
