Chapter 182 Caught
Chapter 182 Caught
Sam’s Point of View
I wasn't supposed to fall for her—I should have stayed away from the beginning. I wasn't supposed to be desperately wanting her to be mine—it was all wrong. I can't betray my brother like this, but what can I do—the damage is done. I can't control my heart or emotions. I fell for her; I desperately wanted her to be mine.
Damn, I wanted to marry her
Wake up next to her
Make her happy all the time.
I deserved her more; she was mine from the very beginning–he took her from me. I honestly thought I could keep these emotions under control, pretend not to care when my brother kisses the lips that were supposed to be kissed by me–touch her, even. Some nights I even wonder if she enjoyed the way he touched her or if she preferred my touch instead… I sound ridiculous, stupid even, but I can't control my heart, and I stopped fighting my feelings—may the best man win. I was ready to fight for her, but if she doesn't want me back, I will stop nagging her and even leave this country. But she has to tell me that she doesn't want me as much as I wanted her.
“Silence has many meanings, Samantha...” I stepped into her space. I lifted my hand to her chin, lifting it as I forced her to look into my eyes. She flinched against my touch, her body going stiff. “Tell me you don't feel anything for me, and I promise with my life, I won't bother you ever again.” My voice dropped into a whisper as I moved even closer to a point where her soft breath brushed against my skin—sending something rushing in my blood–it wasn't lust but something deep I had no words to name or even explain.
Her lips parted, trying to speak, but she shut them again, her green eyes still on mine, flickering with emotions—a lot of emotions. She felt it too; she just didn't know how to say it.
“You—you need to leave...” She stammered, forcefully moving her gaze away from mine.
“Not until you answer my question.”
“I don't feel anything for you, Sam.” She pushed my hand away, ready to storm inside the house, but I grabbed her hand, stopping her from taking another step. An electric jolt rushed through me as my skin touched hers, and she felt it too because she instantly pushed my hand away, but I still didn't allow her to leave.
“You need to look into my eyes and tell me you don't feel anything for me..” I didn't give her a room to escape. I took a big risk today, and I wasn't going to go back without knowing her true feelings. It's fine if she hates me for this—I've got nothing to lose; either I have her or lose her forever, and I wasn't going to back down without a fight… After all, a man has to fight for what he wants, and I was willing to risk it all as long as I get to become the man she chooses… This was simple; it was either us or me.
She tried to shrug out of my grip, but letting go isn't what I came here for. “What the heck is wrong with you, Sam?” She yelled, trying to push me away, but instead, I pulled her closer, her head colliding with my chest, my arms snaking around her waist—damn, her in my arms felt amazing, like the only true thing I've ever felt–I wanted this…
“You didn't answer my question, Samantha...” I leaned closer to her ear. “You don't have to be afraid of anything.. I'm here, and Nicholas isn't. He won't even hear what your decision will be...”
Samantha sucked in a sharp breath, her heart banging in her chest. I could feel it because I was too close to her. “You are so hell-bent on ruining my life, aren't you?”
“Still not the answer to my question...”
“What the heck do you want then?”
“I want you, Samantha!”
She shook her head. “Okay, let's just say I feel the same way about you. Are you going to go against your own flesh and blood for a woman?”
A smirk tugged at the corner. “You aren't any woman, Samantha. You are worth whatever risk I'm willing to take for you.”
“For God's sake.. You need to come back to your senses...”She muttered through gritted teeth. Before any of us could utter a word, the sound of Nicholas’s voice roared in the air.
“What the fuck is happening here?” His voice held no emotion as he walked towards us. Samantha pushed me away as soon as she heard his voice.
“Nicholas...” She rushed to him, but his expression still held no emotion.
“Don't fucking Nicholas me, Samantha. I need to know what the fuck is happening here.” His gaze darted between Samantha and Sam, sharp and stern.
“Nothing is happening... Sam was just leaving...” Samantha snapped her attention towards me. “Right, Sam?” Her voice was filled with desperation. If anything, I didn't want to put her in trouble, but that doesn't mean I was backing down.
I lifted my hands in surrender. “I'm leaving...”
“Stop!” Nicholas called out before I could take any step. We need to talk...”
I nodded. I hated how ugly the situation was becoming. My brother and I just made peace, and not this.. I wish I could ignore it all, but I couldn't ignore my feelings... deserve her as much as he did. I nodded at his words and started walking away.
“Are you fucking my brother?” I balled my hand into a fist as Nicholas asked Samantha..
“Do I look like a whore to you?”
“Aren't you acting like one?”
“At least I don't moan another man's name while you are fucking me..”
Samantha's words made me halt in my tracks. I didn't want to listen to their conversation, but I guess that's how low I've sunk now. But what did she mean–is Nicholas having an affair?
