The days that followed felt like I was walking through a fog, each step heavy and uncertain. Dante’s words, his presence, weighed on me in ways I couldn’t explain. I had always prided myself on my independence, on my ability to stand alone, to make my own choices. But now, with each passing hour, I found myself more and more unsure of who I was, of what I wanted.
It was as if Dante had planted something inside me—a seed that was slowly, insidiously, taking root. The more I fought against it, the stronger it became. I tried to push him away, tried to distance myself from the growing pull I felt whenever he was near. But it didn’t work.
There were moments when I would catch myself staring at him, wondering what it was that drew me to him. His dark eyes, the sharpness in his features, the way he moved with a kind of quiet, powerful grace. But it wasn’t just his looks that captivated me. It was something deeper—something in the way he spoke, in the way he looked at me like I was the only thing that mattered. It unsettled me, made me question everything I thought I knew about myself.
I had no answers, no way of understanding why I was so drawn to him, why the thought of being without him left a hollow ache in my chest. But as much as I wanted to ignore it, I knew the truth: I was becoming tangled in his web. I was losing myself in the very thing I feared the most.
One evening, I found myself standing by the window, staring out at the dark sky, my mind racing. The wind howled outside, rattling the windows, but it was the storm inside me that was the real force I couldn’t escape. I wanted to be free from him, to take control of my life again. But the more I tried to break away, the more I realized that I didn’t know how to live without him.
I heard the sound of footsteps approaching, and before I could turn around, Dante was there, standing in the doorway. His presence was immediate, overwhelming, like a storm itself. He didn’t speak at first, just watched me with those penetrating eyes, as though trying to read every thought I had.
"I didn’t think you’d be here," I said, my voice betraying the uncertainty I felt. I hadn’t expected him to come tonight. In fact, I had hoped for a moment of peace, a brief reprieve from the constant weight of his gaze.
"Why wouldn’t I be here?" Dante asked, his voice low, almost teasing. But there was an edge to it, something dangerous beneath the surface. "You think you can escape from me? You think you can run away from what’s between us?"
I didn’t answer immediately. Instead, I turned back to the window, trying to gather my thoughts, to find some semblance of control. But the storm outside seemed to mirror the turmoil inside me, both of them threatening to consume me if I didn’t find a way to fight back.
"I’m not running," I said quietly, my voice barely above a whisper. "But I don’t want this. I don’t want you to control me."
Dante stepped closer, his breath warm against my ear. "You’re already mine," he murmured, his words sending a shiver down my spine. "And you always have been. You just don’t realize it yet."
I wanted to argue, to scream at him that I was my own person, that no one had the right to claim me. But the words stuck in my throat. Because deep down, I knew he was right. I had been bound to him from the very beginning, drawn to him in ways I couldn’t explain. And as much as I hated it, I couldn’t deny the truth that had been staring me in the face all along.
"Stop," I said, my voice shaky as I turned to face him. "Please. Just… stop."
But Dante didn’t stop. Instead, he reached out, his fingers gently brushing against my cheek, his touch sending a jolt of electricity through me. "You don’t want me to stop," he said, his voice a dark whisper. "You want me to take you, to make you mine completely. And I will. Just like I always have."
His words were like a fire, kindling a heat inside me that I couldn’t suppress. I tried to push him away, tried to fight the attraction I felt for him, but it was like trying to hold back the tide with my bare hands. Every touch, every word, every glance he gave me pulled me further into his orbit.
And then, as though sensing my hesitation, he closed the distance between us, his lips crashing against mine in a kiss that was as fierce as it was desperate. I didn’t know how to respond at first, my body frozen with the sudden intensity of it. But then, as the kiss deepened, I felt my resistance begin to crumble, piece by piece, until all I could feel was him.
His hands moved to my waist, pulling me closer, pressing me against him in a way that left no room for doubt. I was his. And despite everything inside me that screamed for freedom, I couldn’t deny that I was starting to want it. I was starting to want him.
But even as my body betrayed me, a small voice in the back of my mind screamed for me to stop, to pull away before it was too late. Because once I gave in, once I let him completely consume me, there would be no going back.
