Chapter 113

Chapter 113

Dianna

"Dada, we are still waiting." Hearing Rieka's voice made him stumble back and fall out of the bed and I quickly tied my robe.

"Are you alright, Dada?" The innocent girl asked and he only managed to raise his hand to give a thumbs up.

"Come on dear, let us go and wait for daddy to prepare." I led her out to go join her brother.

'You devil of a woman.' He linked me and I smiled inwardly.

After playing with the children and giving them what he had brought for them, he left us to be with his officials. He gave them both a necklace with a crystal pendant. He made it himself and he thought of them while making it. He gave Rieka the one with a sky blue pendant. They are both the same oval shape, the children were in love with it.

"My Queen." Farkas greeted me as he was on his way to see his brother the king. Farkas had contributed so much to the intelligence of the Nation. It is hard to believe that it is the same Farkas that took everything as a joke. Nora must have changed him a whole lot.

"Farkas, how have you been?" I asked.

"Fine, no need asking you since Khan is back." He grinned at me and I looked down to hide my blush.

"So, what news have you brought to us this time?" He sighed and got serious instantly.

"It is not wise to tell you before the King." I pouted and he chuckled.

"We know who the true King of Anu Ukwu Nation is." He whispered and winked at me and I smiled.

"Well, I came bearing bad news. The progenitor is coming with his army of drifters. They are vicious and I fear for our safety. Even Farkas that always makes light of things is this terrified means this is a serious matter.

"We have the true Khan." I said with confidence and it lightened his mood.

"Yes, we have the True Khan." He bowed and left after I asked him about Nora and his son.

"We have the True Khan." I murmured to myself to give myself the same confidence.

Khan Pov.

Farkas's words were not good news and they are all looking at me waiting for an answer. Things were so much easier when all I had to do was fight the harridans. I looked at their faces hoping it would give me the answer that I needed but nothing came up. As I was thinking, I heard the cawing of a hawk that flew down and carried a rodent. As it flew back into the sky, it denied the rodent any form of defense. The hawk took the rodent from its natural habitat which is the earth to its natural habitat which is the air. I smiled as the little display of the it's prey gave me the answer that I needed.

"We should make our defense here." They never expected such an answer from me.

In the past, we would always go and engage the harridans just a few distance away from our home. That was because we were confident that we would win. Now, things are different as we are to fight against our equals or possibly stronger opponents. They feel it is better to go and meet them before they can get to us.

"Isn't it better to go and meet them halfway? So that if we lost, we must have given them enough damages to make them go back. In that way, we would buy the ones at home to prepare for another alternative." Smith suggested and Frank also continued.

"Yes, if we wait for them to come to our doorsteps and they win us, they will definitely match directly to our homes and pillage. Nothing would be able to stop them, not even distance." Frank added.

"I understand where you are coming from, but I think we would be stronger while fighting in our natural habitat. Traps can be laid, we have a better chance since we know the land more than they do. All we need to do is lock the city gate and fight a defensive battle." Farkas said.

"It looks like my brother is no longer all brute." I said and Farkas chuckled and stepped forward.

"You are right, this form of battle is our only chance of victory. It is the only way we can use even the weakest link among us to destroy their strongest." Farkas added and I am now curious to know what my brother had in mind.

"Tell us Farkas, what do you have in mind?" Fenris asked and Farkas brought out a paper and opened it for us to see what was drawn on it.

"This is called a catapult and the humans are in the process of making it." I looked at it and I could tell that it is a weapon of mass destruction.

"With a single sling, it can take down many wolves. We can use it to start killing them before they get close to us." He went ahead to explain how it works and other machines being developed by humans.

I honestly felt glad that I have united them all and called them a Nation. Imagine if this weapons of mass destruction were pointed towards us. I know it was because of the peace that gave them the time and Farkas gave them the resources to make all these possible. But, if I didn't unite them, one day they would be able to produce something similar and then we would be their enemies.

One day the oppressed will become the oppressor. I am thinking of how to deepen the bond of the Nation so that conflict would be avoided in the future. After this war, I will think about that.

"This is no way for a wolf not to fight, we need to engage our enemies in a bloody fight." Smith said with his fist raised.

"Smith, we are now more than a wolf. Look beside you, who is standing to your right?" I asked and he turned and Frank was there.

"Frank." Smith answered.

"Then again turn to your left, who is beside you?"

"Thomas." He answered again. Thomas is the human that came with Farkas and I suspected he is the one in charge of the making of the machines.

"They are not wolves." He nodded.

"But, they are your country men and they have the right to defend their Nation with all their might as you do." He looked down in shame as he was already getting what I was trying to say.

"Don't you think it would be stupid of them to engage a drifter in a fistfight when they have something else?"

"Yes, my King." He replied. He is still a wolf and that is a fact that I will never change. Every wolf loves to fight to measure their strength and keep the hierarchy.

"I won't deny you the opportunity to engage the enemy in a bloody fight." His face brightened at my declaration.

"So, don't deny them the opportunity to serve the Nation.

"Yes, My King." He bowed happily.

"So, do we have a go ahead order?" Farkas asked.

"Yes, it would be used as our defense, so it would be positioned outside the walls. How fast can it be assembled and how many can be assembled?" I asked as we have little time on our hands so we need to be fast.

"A week my King and we can only make three at most for now." Farkas replied and I nodded as three is already big enough to help us. They might not know it but it gave me big confidence knowing we would be able to engage them from a distance. I trained myself rigorously and seeing Fenris and Farkas, I noticed they did too but the enemy we are about to fight is different.

The first Khan is cut above the rest and the weakest drifter is stronger than an average Alpha. So, him coming with a whole army of drifters is something to be concerned with.

"Alright, you all know the full moon is nearly upon us. This is no longer the time for meeting, you all should go and prepare and also be ready for the war. Remember to spend every moment you can with your loved ones but don't let it distract you, instead let it motivate you." They all accepted and left except Fenris and Farkas stayed back.

"Do you have anything else to tell me?"

I waited for everyone to be out of hearing range before asking the question. Farkas looked between me and Fenris and then brought out another drawing. This one is different from the catapult, it is similar to the bow and arrow humans use for hunting only when the target appears to be big and made of steel.

"This is bow and arrow?" Fenris asked.

"Yes but bigger, a single shot can pierce more than ten wolves depending on how close they are. With this, you might not even have to fight the progenitor." He whispered the last part and I was silent for a while. I was silent because my brother has greatly underestimated the progenitor. Someone that is no short of natural disaster.

"My brother, I am happy you are thinking of good ways to eliminate the enemy." I patted his shoulder.

"But, I must tell you, don't think of the progenitor, he has surpassed all reasoning.

"You are saying this because you haven't seen the weapon." I sighed and I understood how it is easy for him to be confident in the weapon.

"Alright, you can show me and even use it on me." The twin brothers looked at each other with surprise and Farkas shook his head.

"That is an order." I used my Emperor powers and he couldn't refuse.

We all left to where the weapon was and two things were on my mind. If I die at the hands of the weapon then they can use it to kill the first Khan. But if I survive, I will just measure the power of the weapon and how much I have grown.

Fenris tried convincing me otherwise but it was all on deaf ears even when he used Dianna to scare me.
