Epilogue One (1)

***Four months later***

“Their eyes seem hungry for you, my dear,” Solaire’s lips brushed past Mendora’s ear as he whispered the words to her. “Little do they know that you are all mine,” he rasped, as if that knowledge alone was capable of arousing him. And he was aroused. A fact that did not escape Mendora’s notice. Not when she straddling him, oblivious to the rest of the world.

“Who dares to think I am anything but yours?” Mendora leaned into him further, her arms around his neck, struggling not to lean down and press her lips to his. The crowd behind them unable to fully look away and who could blame them? The lonely devil had found his companion and she was as much revered as he was.

An imposing match if society had ever seen one.

“Here,” she referenced their club as she tapped on the surface of his mask. Once their marriage had been finalised, an agreement was made to share in each other’s fruits. Their clubs no longer competing but existing side by side. Each one with specific opening schedules. “or in the real world?”

She’d managed to convince Solaire to keep his open, after all, it held too many memories of them for him to have it closed.

A grin spread across his lips. One doused in the joy of possession. Of knowing she was right. If there was a single soul to question this one undeniable fact, then he’d no problems in issuing a reminder. “You are, aren’t you?” a more genuine undertone to his smile now as he trailed the outline of her face with a finger.

Some days he couldn’t comprehend it. Sitting in bed, looking over at her asleep and his chest would feel as if it were about to burst. To think he’d almost lost her. Been stupid and scared for no reason.

“You couldn’t get rid of me even if you tried.” She breathed the words against his lips as if it were a threat. His arms tightened around her.

“A promise I’m planning on calling to fulfilment if you every try to leave me again,” he tilted his neck, signalling that he wanted her to meet him half-way. Mendora grinned, pressing her thumb to his lower lip.

“Before we get to that, husband,” she loved reminding herself that he was as much hers as she was his, “I’ve something to discuss with you,”

He groaned, shifting beneath her to provide a reminder of his insistence. She’d been teasing him since before they got here. A goading kiss here, a few calculated touched in the carriage. It was now too much for him to take. Any slightest movement from her and he swore he’d release himself in his trousers.

“Could it not wait?” he gripped her hips tight and steady, rocking his hips from below her. Mendora caught her bottom lip between her teeth, “It cannot,” she responded breathlessly, sliding her arms from around his chest and pressing her palms flat against his chest.

“Is something wrong?” He’d become serious. There was little his wife was insistent on speaking on and he saw the determination in her eyes to converse.

“No,” she provided him with a bright smile, her eyes sparkling with some hidden secret. “I am not distressed by it,” she suddenly found herself shaking. Not because her husband was a tyrant who’d be upset but because she feared herself getting emotional again, before she was able to say the words she’d been rehearsing in her head. “I’m stunned,” she offered, not quite able to believe it herself. “It’s a bit early but the doctors have assured me that this time I should not have any complications,” she saw his eyes widen. It was obvious what she was referring too, especially after their last miscarriage.

Mendora had gotten pregnant two months ago but the baby did not last past a month. It had been a dark time in their lives but Solaire had assured her she was enough, even if they were never able to bear a child. It was a matter to be dealt with in solidarity. As a team.

“My dearest wife,” he cupped my face, “for as long as I have you I want for nothing more.” He pressed a kiss to her lips, “should our child be born or not,” he needed to reassure her despite the wave of excitement thrashing against his chest.

“Are you not happy, at least?” she was staring at him, wondering if he’d changed his mind about having a family with her.

Solaire huffed out a disbelieving laughter, “Nothing can vex me tonight, that is how happy I am. But I need you to understand that what I care about the most is you. Your health and your happiness.”

“I know,” she exhaled. He’d never once made her feel like less of a woman. He’d shared her sorrow and pain and she loved him for it. Having him at her side made the perils worth it, little did he know that this time she was adamant. This child will be born. She knew it.

“Shall we celebrate?” he wiggled his brows at her and she laughed. “What do you have in mind, my Lord?”

“Well, my Lady,” he teased, always enjoying calling her by her new title. The way she managed her responsibly and more made him realise she was born to it. After all, her biological father was a Viscount. “I have a few suggestions,” he covered her neck with his hands, watching as her eyes glazed over.

His Marchioness was quite the lover of submission. A surprising trait for all of her dominance in the day to day matters she had control over. Hell, she even managed the Marquess from time to time as well. And she did it with ease. She was his equal and he valued her opinion more than any man or woman.

“I believe I should be open to them all,” switching again and giving him control.

“I should expect nothing less,” he grinned, freeing himself from his breeches and hiking her skirts up, arranging them so that she was hovering over his cock. The tip breeching her sopping opening. “I’m about to slide my cock into your pulsing pussy and have you ride me to oblivion,” he swallowed hard, using all his control not to drag her down on him, to have her sheathing him with her body. “any last objections?”

“Stop teasing and fuck me,” she crashed her lips against his, sinking down onto his cock. They groaned in unison, their bodies thrashing against each other with pure need.

Mendora knew she’d never tire of this, of him. Every day she craved his love and touch more and more. There was nothing in the world that could be its equal.

And to think she’d almost thought marriage was not for her. That she’d never find a fulfilling life as a man’s wife. She’d been wrong and by the Gods, she was grateful.

“I do not see why you are running amok here,” Solaire was trying his very best to temper the frustration in his voice as she followed closely behind has Mendora swept through the corridors of the orphanage they ran together.

“Where else am I supposed to be?” she snapped at him, the exhaustion clear on her face. Her eyes sunken, her body drawn.

“At home, resting.” He grabbed her by the arm and pulled her away to look at him, “ I can handle things here for you and there are multiple staff members.” She looked at him uncertainly, these children meant so much to her, Solaire knew that and he would never seek to keep her away or manage her feelings. However, it had only been two weeks since Mendora had given birth to their son. Her body was still recovering.

“Please, my love.” He was reduced to begging, “or take a bed here and lie down. Just for my sake, I beg you.”

“Fine,” she conceded, “I’ll sleep in the room we’ve left Sakarias in and let my mother know she can aid you instead.” She was ready to walk off and Solaire was on her heels, “Leave your mother with you, she can help you if you require any help,” He said and Mendora nodded, too exhausted to contest.

Her baby boy was their miracle. She’d been over the moon that her pregnancy has been successful, she’d even given her husband an heir. Something she was most congratulated on and yet she knew her husband cared little for the sex of their child.

While she’d been giving birth, she’d seen the worry in his eyes as he stood over her, watching in silence as the doctor delivered her baby. He’d been scared and Mendora knew that had not yet faded, not while she was still week from child birth.

“Here,” he’d aided her in lying down once they entered the room. Baby Sakarias asleep in his crib, he was more a night owl and Solaire begged Mendora to rest while Sakarias was.

He watched as she dozed off almost immediately. Turning his attention to Lavinia, he whispered, “send for me if anything happens,” he said, creeping over to the crib and gazing down at his son. He was a father and a husband, both roles he took seriously. He hadn’t known he could feel this much love but that was the power of

Mendora, of his wife and the mother of his child. She expanded his capabilities and made it so that he experienced things he never thought possible. “anything at all,” he reiterated, leaving to handle his wife’s responsibilities so she could rest easy.
