Alexander POV

“How dare he?” I shouted as I barged into my office.

“Does he not know who I am? How dare he embarrass me like that in the presence of that nuisance” I said to myself.

My wolf fumed in me.

“Don’t you even try to pretend. I blame you for telling me to meet him. If we had just left after the meeting, none of this would have happened” I yelled at him.

He whined and got even so angry that I blamed him.

I was very angry that I scattered the things on my desk, my anger was not a good thing and it was quite difficult to control. I was so close to shifting but I don’t want to, knowing how much wreck he would cause if I let him out.

Shifting to my wolf self was not common. He only comes out in extreme anger and it was difficult controlling him when I was little. I easily get angry so anytime anyone, mostly my classmatesannoyedd me, he would come out and beat them to a pulp.

I had on several occasions been told to bring my father to school. It was getting out of hand and it was not good for my father’s reputation neither was it good for the pack. The principal advised my father one day to homeschool me and ever since then I was homeschooled.

Most of the time, my father would teach me physical combat instead of schoolwork. I started training at an early age and I took several therapies on how to control my wolf. I became one of the strongest wolves at a very young age and my father began to involve me in the affairs of the pack.

He would always complain that my way of ruling the pack was different from his. I ruled the pack fiercely and I would not take nonsense from anybody, making me respected and revered. The pack grew speedily under my administration, my father was proud but he still wanted a little softness. He blamed himself that he trained me too hard.

I sat in my chair, eyes closed, trying to calm myself and work on the documents that were spread across the desk.

“Alex!!!” someone screamed my name from the hallway and I immediately recognized that voice.

“Gregory?” I said.

“Alex!” he said again as he barged into the room.

“Gregory! How are you doing?” I asked and stood up to embrace him.

“ I’m fine. How are you? You look angry” he said.

“I’m fine also. Ignore my anger. What are you doing here” I asked cause it was Gregory couldn't beithout a reason.

“Just came to check how you are doing” I glared at him and he laughed.

“Fine! You know me too well. I heard what happened at your coronation, the whole mate rejection stuff. You know that would not have happened if I was around right?” He said.

He was right. Gregory might be playful but he is as well strong. He is my only friend, training partner and brother. He has defended and supported me in the past and he would readily do it again.

“ I also heard you have a very good relationship with the Alpha of Blue Orchid Pack. I might need your help with convincing him to build one of my companies in Blue Orchid”

Gregory was a very big business typhoon. He has been touring packs for several years, building his companies everywhere and I think Blue Orchid Pack was the only pack left in the eastern part of Los Angeles that is yet to have his company.

“ He is a very tough man, by the way, I have sent proposals and representatives but he still did not give in” Gregory added.

“ He is also rude and arrogant. What makes you think you can convince him? You might as well forget about building your company in his pack” I said.

“ Don’t worry about that. I can handle him” he said confidently.

“You need to go for a hunt. Looks like it has been a while” Gregory said.

He knows how much hunting in the woods gives me peace. I stood up and he followed behind me telling me all about his trips around packs.

“Why did you reject her though?” he asked as we got into the car.

“Who?” I asked to be sure of who he was talking about.

“Your mate” he replied.

“ She is a weakling and I don’t need a weakling by my side to help run the pack,” I explained.

“But she is your mate and you know that”

“I can always get another mate. Any she-wolf would immediately agree to be my Luna if I want her” I replied.

“What!? That’s not right” he said.

“I just need a strong wolf Gregory, I don’t need her” I lied.

Gregory would be surprised to see that I still want to get her back even after publicly rejecting her. He would not judge me, he is just like my father, he also believes in soul mate but I would not let him see me as a weak alpha now. I would get her back and make everyone think that she came back to me.

“So you rejected her only because she was weak?? That’s not right Alex. You didn’t think she’d be stronger than she looks? Or that she deserved more than being rejected and even publicly?!” he said.

“Just drop it, Greg!! Okay??” I know what I did and I don’t regret it. I was right about rejecting a weak mate they don’t just get it. But Roland just had to be mated to the same person as me. What was the moon goddess thinking??.

“Okay. Okay. Whatever you say.” He said

I wasn’t going to let Roland think he has won anything or feel good about himself just because he has something that I don’t. Something that’s mine to begin with.

We got to the forest on the outskirts of town. The wolves in Los Angeles specifically chose these woods for hunting because trees are abundant, plenty of water, and animals to hunt and it’s far away from the rest of the city. We wouldn’t want any human coming across us when we are in our shifted form.

We got out of the car and made our way into the woods. “I’m kind of in the mood for a chase. Are you in for a chase Gold?” Greg smirked and snickered as he pulled off his shirt and shorts and began to shift right on the spot revealing his Brown Golden wolf with a whitemane.

I smirked at the now four-foot beast that was once my best friend and he moved around with his paws buried in the ground. As I took off my shirt and shorts and in an instant shifted into my grey-furred wolf that I have come to love. As an Alpha, my wolf slightly towered over most wolves due to their smaller sizes.

I paced about for a little while, getting comfortable with my surroundings and sniffing the air for scents of anything that could be eaten. My ears perked at the sound of tiny drops of water. There is a river close by. Nodding my head in the direction of the sound I heard judging by the way Greg’s wolf followed my nod, it seemed like he could hear it too.

In a flash, we both launched forward as our paws hit the ground and our growls grew louder as we scathed through the trees and paths. The wind brushed our furs in various directions and we both chased after each other.

I raced through the woods with the sounds of the river guiding me. I had lost Greg somewhere in the woods as we ran. The sound of the river grew closer and louder. I was close and I knew it, there was something else I could hear. “Ggggggrrrrrrrrr” I heard a growl as I finally got to the river and looked around to see Greg’s wolf already at the river. The fucker beat me to the river.

It was almost like he could sense my anger and it looked like his wolf snickered right in my face, holding his head up high and wagging his tail.

I huffed and paced around the river bank and laid down close to the river bank. Greg had mind-linked me, flaunting his win on and on and how he has been taking things slow with finding his mate and focusing on his business.

I was already growing quite bored and hungry and I could have sworn that my wolf had rolled his eyes when Greg started talking about something else that had to do with business. Gregory wasn’t so much of a talker but anytime Greg is with me, he is always just so chatty

“Let’s go for a hunt,” I said through the mind link. We looked around for our kill, hunted it down and ate before we washed up again at the river and made our way back to our clothes at the space where we left them and shifted back into our human form.

We had finished putting on our clothes and made our way back into the car. Gregory kept on teasing me with his win and how he would beat me again in another chase anytime we came back to the forest. We made our way into the Tyuii pack estate and parked the car in the garage.

On my way into the pack house, I noticed the Black Maybach car that seemed too familiar to miss and a man with black jeans and inked arms standing right beside the car.

Tim was here.

Gregory was taken to a guest room and Tim followed me to my office.

“Hey Tim,” I said as we entered.

“I just stopped by to know if Lucy has gotten to you this week,” he asked.

“ She did, earlier this week but I have not heard from her since then,” I said.

“ Okay, she would if she has anything to tell you. Just stay low and don’t make any move yet” he warned.

“I’m not a kid Tim,” I replied sternly.

He stood up and walked to the door “ I know but I have been in this business long before you” he said and left the room.

I sat there for a while before I left for my room. On the way to my room, I met Gregory.

“ What business do you have with Tim?” He asked.

“ It’s nothing you have to worry about Greg. I’m not going to steal your company from you” I teased him and walked away, I was not ready for that conversation.

“ He is quite dangerous and you know that right?” he said.

“I know Gregory” I replied.

“Just be careful!” he shouted.

I returned to my office after changing into a simpler cloth and my mind was now focused on work. I picked up the abandoned documents and flipped through the pages, it was a business plan from another pack that wanted my help with overthrowing another pack. I smiled at the plan, I loved this kind of business. I could easily flaunt how strong I am.

My father has not spoken with me since I visited his place so I called him.

“ Good evening Dad. How are you doing?” I asked.

“ I’m good” he replied.

“Sounds like you are enjoying retirement,” I said.

“ Yes, I am”

“Good, just wanted to check up on you,” I said.

“Alright. Thank you. How is the pack?” he asked.

“Fine fine. I will visit soon to update you”

“ Okay, son. Goodbye,” he said and hung up.

Remembering I had not had a proper meal since the hunt, I left my office to eat dinner. Gregory joined me later in the dining and it was really good to have him back. Dinner was great, with me and Greg throwing shades at each other as we remembered childhood escapades. We finally said good night to each other and retired to bed.
