Chapter 50 Happiness
Austin's eyes were filled with too many emotions.
He stared at Queenie. Queenie was beautiful, even though she wasn't wearing makeup, she was still stunning. Her confidence made it impossible for Austin to take his eyes off of her.
Facing the confusion of everyone, Queenie explained the situation calmly, showing no signs of panic whatsoever. She wasn't like this before. Every time she faced the Lewis family, she would always be nervous. There were several times during family banquets when her aunts and uncles were giving her a hard time, and she even hid behind Austin.
"Are you Queenie?"
Queenie raised an eyebrow. "Yes, Aunt Brenda."
"Aunt Cathy, Uncle Bruce, Uncle Caleb, Aunt Bella, long time no see." She greeted these people calmly. She stood tall and straight, not flustered and insecure like before.
Then, the door to the hospital room opened, and everyone saw Derek sitting on the bed. He was looking at them, his eyes bright. He looked relaxed, no longer in pain like before.
Everyone was surprised.
Nora couldn't believe what she was seeing, she almost lost control. She thought, 'How is this possible? Queenie cured Grandpa. He was dying. The doctors couldn't alleviate his pain, but Queenie could? Did I see it wrong?'
Queenie said to Mary, "Grandma, I have to go back now. I'll come back tomorrow to treat Grandpa. His headaches and chest tightness will be alleviated in a week."
"Okay, thank you, Queenie." Mary smiled, no longer worried. She also added meaningfully, "You're amazing. You're so much better than those mediocre doctors. Thank you for helping the Lewis family."
Everyone looked at each other, each with different thoughts.
Nora's facial features twisted with anger, still unable to believe it. She screamed in her heart.
"Austin, why are you still standing here? Escort Queenie back and let her rest. Don't come to take care of your grandfather tonight, take care of your wife," Mary said.
Queenie didn't say anything.
"I have one more question," Brenda was eager to ask. "Queenie, what happened to your face? Which hospital did you get your plastic surgery done at? It was a very successful operation."
Every woman loves beauty.
Bella said, "I also want to know. Which hospital? I'm not satisfied with my chin."
Queenie shrugged. "I was born this way. Envy won't do you any good."
Everyone couldn't help but roll their eyes at her.
Nora was so angry that she almost fainted.
Austin pursed his lips, thinking, 'How dare she brag? But her plastic surgery really was successful.' He walked into the hospital room alone to see Derek. He didn't like the arguing among the women, it gave him a headache.
At that moment, Queenie said, "Grandma, I have a request."
Nora felt annoyed but dared not say more. She was furious because Queenie was about to replace her position in the Lewis family.
Mary lovingly patted Queenie's hand. "What is it?"
The other elders saw this scene and felt jealous. They thought, 'Queenie does indeed have ulterior motives. She is shameless to make demands at this time.'
Cathy couldn't help but say, "Queenie, you are Austin's wife. Taking care of your grandfather is your responsibility. The Lewis family is very grateful to you, but should you make requests at this time?"
"Right. Queenie, don't be too greedy."
"I told you she's not a kind person. There's no such thing as a free lunch. She just wants the Lewis family's fortune," Bella sarcastically said.
These people claimed to care about Derek, but not a single one of them visited Derek in the hospital room. They were all preoccupied with their own interests, afraid of being divided by Queenie.
Nora said, "Queenie, I know you haven't been doing well overseas these past few years, and the plastic surgery must have cost a lot of money. But you shouldn't make demands at this time. Grandpa and Grandma have been so good to you, you saved him, and we are all grateful to you. The Lewis family will also treat you well. But if you ask for something, everyone won't be happy."
Nora implied that Queenie didn't understand gratitude and was foolish.
Queenie ignored Nora and said to Mary, "Grandma, I want a divorce from Austin."
Everyone was shocked.
Nora widened her eyes.
Mary was very clever, but she didn't know what to say.
Queenie had just returned, and no one understood the person she had become.
Austin, who had walked out of the hospital room, heard Queenie's words. He furrowed his brows.
Queenie's return had brought him great shock, and her mindset had also changed.
He approached Queenie and shook her hand. "Stop talking nonsense. Grandpa needs rest. Don't let our uncles and aunts make fun of us."
"I'm not talking nonsense. Austin, you know I came back this time to divorce you."
Queenie left no room for Austin. "Grandma and our uncles and aunts all understand the marriage between Austin and me. I'm not qualified to be Austin's wife..."
Mary interrupted her. "Queenie, you're tired. Let Austin take you back first and stop saying silly things."
Austin pulled Queenie out and she continued to struggle. "Grandma, I only want $40 million, not property that doesn't belong to me. I can return everything you gave me when I got married to the Lewis family. Grandma, please consider it. It's my only wish, Grandma..."
"I only want 40 million dollars." Queenie's words echoed in the hospital corridor.
Everyone felt confused. They thought, 'Is that woman really Queenie? Why does she only want $40 million? Is she greedy or not? Didn't she always covet the Lewis family's wealth? The Lewis family's wealth has long exceeded billions of dollars, so 40 million dollars is nothing. But for ordinary people, 40 million dollars is a huge sum. Moreover, Queenie used to deeply love Austin, why does she want a divorce? Even if she has become beautiful, she should not abandon the identity of Mrs. Lewis. Many people want this identity. Queenie is lucky to be able to marry Austin and become a member of the Lewis family.’
Nora hurriedly chased after them. "Austin, wait for me."
Austin seemed to not hear her and dragged Queenie into the elevator. By the time Nora caught up, the elevator doors had already closed.
Queenie pushed away Austin's hand and kept her distance from him. She said disdainfully, "Mr. Lewis, please behave. I'm about to be your ex-wife."
"Queenie." Austin approached her and pinched her chin. "Are you sure Grandpa is okay?"
Queenie shook off Austin's hand. "Didn't you see it yourself? Grandpa was able to sit up."
Austin snorted coldly, "Do you think you're great just because you learned some skills abroad? Are you trying to divorce me or ask me for $40 million?"
"Divorce and $40 million are the same thing. Mr. Lewis, if you want a divorce, you have to pay $40 million. I married you for three years, and you only fulfilled the duties of a husband once, and that was under my coercion. If others find out about this, I would feel embarrassed. You should compensate for the damage to my body."
