Chapter 19 Destiny Child

Angela had been crying, since Celestine told her she was her daughter, they were both holding on to each other tightly, glad to be reunited but at the same time crying tears of joy. For Angela this moment was unbelievable, she had spent so much time longing for a mother and knowing she could never have that but at that moment in time, everything that she ever dreamt of was real. She was checking out her mother's eyes, nose, hair, touching her everywhere to make sure she was real. Then she remembered something, it sobered her enough from the euphoria of finding her mother to a feeling that was akin to disappointment.

Celestine was worried why all of a sudden Angela had pulled away from her, she wore a look of anxiety and a questioning look but before she could say anything Angela spoke.

"I'm so glad that I finally met you, I only realized a while ago that this is not real. We are in the dreamscape and as far as I'm concerned, you are still dead in the waking world," she said tears flowing freely from her beautiful mismatched eyes.

"Oh, come here child. I am so much alive here as I am in the waking world, the only difference is that, in the waking world I sleep and cannot communicate with anyone. Here I am able to communicate with you because of who you are, we share a connection, and nobody else except Mizpah can talk to me."

"Where is your sleeping form?" Angela asked, a spark of hope igniting in her heart.

"Look around you child, I'm in a room exactly similar to this one in the eastern part of the palace. The only difference is that, that part is sealed off completely to anyone except for Casper, two of my loyal ladies in waiting and Greta. Casper stops by every two times a year to check if I wake but Greta has always taken good care of me since I was born. She continues to do the same up to now and I trust her completely."

"Why does he not want anyone to see you?" Angela was curious.

"I will get to that; if I start there I may miss some important details I need you to know about."

"Okay, so you faked you were raped yet it was your mother's killer who impregnated you, how did that feel?" Angela asked her, a tinge of bitterness in her voice, which was not missed by Celestine.

"I know how difficult it is to think that your father was a murderer; believe me I did at first until I learnt the truth, I was bitter, angry and suicidal, I tried taking my life twice but never succeeded. One time I slit my wrists so that I could bleed out but grandmother found me just in time. The other time was when I contemplated drowning myself but I never got into the water" she smiled when she remembered.

"So you tried killing yourself and me, for that matter but thank the gods that were on watch because I would not be alive today," Angela bitterly remarked, sarcasm evident in her tone of voice.

But Celestine was not moved by her anger; she stood and started pacing around the room before she continued narrating what happened at the river.

"I had woken that morning with a nasty headache, the previous night I had spent crying for losing my mother who would have known how to help me overcome the constant sickness I felt. I had also been thinking of how Liam had lied to me but here I was lying to my father to protect his unborn child. I felt as if I had received the short end of the deal and could not help but feel like I wanted to punish myself for being so stupid. During all that, time we had been together, Liam had been the perfect lover.

He cared so much about me that he was willing to wait until I was comfortable to divulge that we were mates to my parents. However, at that time, I was thinking from a selfish and hurt perspective and I thought that was why he delayed it because he was using me to get into delayed it because he was using me to get into our territory undetected so that he could kill my own mother. I hated myself, and I hated the child I was carrying, it reminded me of my mother's killer."

"Why didn't you do it?" Angela asked in a feeble voice, understanding her mother's feelings and thinking that if she had been in her place she would have done the same thing too.

"I had help," she said simply.

"Huh?"

"I was determined that day that I was going to end the agony that plagued my soul day and night. It was so painful to lose my mate but it was also much more painful to lose my mother. I would be doing something or learn something that I wanted to tell my mother but halfway I would be reminded that she was gone and would never be there for me. I would also remember that it was my mate that killed her because I made it possible for him to sneak in and out of our territory undetected. I was the one who had given him the scent-masking potion so that he could come and go as he wished. The price I had to pay for was my mother's life. I hated myself for being so gullible and I hated myself for protecting his offspring, it felt as if he was mocking me even in death," Celestine continued narrating her story to Angela as she cried.

Angela was torn between hating her murderer father and sympathizing with Celestine as she felt that Celestine deserved a better man than her father. Celestine was aware of what Angela was feeling and so she spoke directly to her, facing her and wearing a mother’s serious face.

He is not a murderer"

"How is he not one when he killed my grandmother?" Angela was incredulous.

"I thought so too until I arrived at the river where I was planning to take both mine and your life," she said as she sat down on the seat by the fireplace.

"I had been running when I went to the river, I did not want to be rescued, but it would prove to be impossible if someone spotted me.

Furthermore, Casper did not want to hear that I had been treated less than a princess had to be treated. He would start a civil war; he was ready for that reason. And some even thought that he was looking for a war to get his frustrations out.

When I arrived at the river, I found two men and a woman. They looked taller than average, more a woman. They looked taller than average stronger, and lithe. The woman wore a golden tunic that tied at the waist like a saree and the men only wore loincloths of the same golden color. They called me by name and asked me to sit down between them. At first I thought they wanted something from me but when they did not speak, I started fidgeting because I was nervous. One of them held my shoulder and I swear I felt sparks go through my whole body. But after the sparks, a calm feeling overcame my whole being and I couldn't help but relax"

Angela did not interrupt the narration, instead she urged her with an 'aha' sound.

"They already knew my intentions, they were aware of what I went to do at the river and they pleaded with me not to go ahead with my initial plans. After arguing for hours, I gave in; I did not intend to not go through with my plans, I could not live without my Liam, but I could not live with the thought that Liam was a murderer.

All this time, it was the men that had been speaking to me while the woman with them did not say a word. She stood up and came to where I was sitting on a rock; she held my hand and pulled me to stand. She was taller than I was and within no time, I was tired of straining my neck to look at her. She spoke to me in a whisper and said, 'My name is Athena, that is Zeus and the blonde right there is Poseidon. We came here because what you carry in your tummy is not just an ordinary child but she is the reincarnation of the Moon goddess. She is destined to bring balance to the world but she will have to grow up as a human. When the time comes, we will recall her from among the humans and she will come home where she will humans and she will come home where she will learn who she truly is. Carita Bennett will be her guardian, do not follow her, neither contacts them. Do what you have to just to make sure you stay out of her life. Your presence in her life will bring her great danger, but if she grows away from you she will live a normal life, "she immediately disappeared into thin air. Poseidon looked at me sympathetically and said, ' you will meet an oracle, she will tell you who the child is and what destiny awaits her. Oh and by the way, Liam is not a murderer the culprit walks among you. He thrives on lies and he has managed to conspire against the royal family. He cannot be removed from the position he has now, only the child you are carrying is destined to overthrow him." I was about to ask him what he meant because with everything he was saying the accusation fell directly on my was saying the accusation fell directly on my father. But father loved my mother so much that he would not dare lift a finger against her. I found it odd that he would say such things but I had more rejoicing things to focus on that I swept the warning under the carpet."

"What did you do," Angela asked.

"I did nothing; I waited until it was time to give birth to you. After two months I went back to my home in Grundolf where the story of my mate dying before he could meet his child stuck. Carita Bennet had had a visitation from Athena as well and was prepared to take the child to the humans' realm. We had to wait until you were two years old so that you could be transported easily through a magical portal without any harm coming on you. I also had to do the most difficult thing a mother could ever do to her child, you and I were so close that it would be impossible for you to go away from me, I also had to suppress your magical abilities and your werewolf gene. This was done to cloak your real identity as you are like a beacon that beckons the supernatural to yourself."

"So you are serious about me being a werewolf?" she asked finding it hard to believe.

"Yes child, I suppressed your gene and your magical abilities. But now that you are here the time to uncloak you is on us, I have to do this so that you in turn can recall me from this dimension into the waking world. I could create this place with the help of Carita Bennett but I cannot leave without her help. Since she is not here, it is upon you to complete the task and bring me home. You will need me for the next phase of your life; you also need me to help you break Carita out of the dungeons where she is being held."

"This is so confusing," she said finding some of the things she was hearing hard to believe.

"Take it one day at a time, I have not yet touched on quarter of what you need to know.

That was just the tip of the iceberg," she said to her daughter.

"What do I have to do to recall you,? She asked bracing herself for the ride ahead.

"I need to unlock your magic"
