Chapter 43
Althea stared at the menacing gaze of Damian, although her heart was beating fast against her chest, she tried her best not to let it show. She knew that if she made any slip and made a mistake now, she would not be able to escape. 

"I don't know what you're talking about," Althea insisted. She wanted to leave by all means necessary, and she was not foolish enough to spoil whatever chances that she had. 

"Is that so?" Damian's gaze was suspicious as he stared at her face, he kept having the feeling that something was wrong, that Althea was currently plotting something.

"Yes, you already have so many people watching me. Do you really think that I'll be able to escape? I don't have the ability to do that. Since you think that I am going to run, why don't you lock me up like you did last time?" Althea said confidently but deep down she was scared. 

She was taking a gamble here, she knew that Damian cared about her to some extent. Even if he was forcing her to stay with him, he wouldn't harm her and so she took a gamble hoping that he would not lock her up. 

Damian nodded, he still remembered what happened the last time he had locked her up. He did not want that to happen again and so even though he was upset, he still decided to let her be. 

"Fine, I am going to trust you,". He said with some difficulty. 

"Since you wanted to see Alicia, I already asked her to come see you," Damian said. 

He did not trust Althea to leave on her own because he feared she would run away but he did not want to isolate her from everyone. 

Since she was friends with Alicia, Damian was willing to let them meet. 

Althea's face lit up in a smile when she heard this, "is that so? Thank you very much" She said happily.

Damian was satisfied when he saw Althea this happy. He told himself that as long as she wanted something, he would do his best to make sure that he gave it to her. As far as she was not planning to escape.



Alicia had arrived and was already waiting for Althea in one of the small living room areas. 

"Althea" Alicia got up with a smile on her face and rushed to her, taking Althea’s hand and holding it tight. 

"I thought that something had happened to you, the baron is very wise and I feared that he would discover what we are trying to do" Alicia said. 

Althea shook her head with a smile on her face, "don't worry, I was able to convince him. He won't let me come out to meet you but he allowed you to come see me. That means that we can come up with a plan for me to get out of here, right?" Althea's eyes were shining with hope as she asked this .

Alicia was a powerful person and she knew the way around Westland. 

Since she wanted to escape Althea was well aware of the fact that she needed the help of someone as powerful as Alicia. 

Alicia nodded her head, "Of course, I am very happy to help you. I just want to ask you one thing, are you sure that you want to escape?" 

Although Alicia was frowning, the truth was that she was extremely excited inside. She thought it might take some time to convince Althea to escape, but it didn't even take any effort. Althea was so eager to leave. 

Alicia knew that with Althea gone, she would be able to get down Damian’s bed and then become his baroness. 

"Of course I want to leave, Damian brought me here against my wishes" Althea said firmly. 

"But he seems to have feelings for you...." Alicia asked just to see what she will say.

"If you have feelings for someone, you need to let them make a decision. Don't worry, when I am gone, I am sure that he will forget about me sooner or later," Althea said. 

She was convinced that whatever feelings Damian has is an obsession. A powerful man like Damian has so many people around him. Sooner or later, he would forget about her, his obsession will fade away.

Alicia sighed, acting like she was sad, "I am going to miss you. But if you really want to escape, I'll help you. Let me tell you something, the only way out of Westland is through the woods. All of the roads are controlled by the Baron. The ships out of Westlands, he controls all of them. Without his permission, no one can leave" Alicia said. 

Althea nodded her head, knowing this was true. The last time that she tried to escape, she was caught and brought back in no time. 

"The woods you're talking about.." Althea said but was cut short.

"Well, it's dangerous. There are so many wild animals there and there are even some traffickers. You might run into them and I don't want you to get hurt. It's the only way you can manage to escape, although it's dangerous" Alicia informed her. 

Althea frowned for a few seconds, as she considered her options. 

She was scared to escape through the woods, but she also didn't want to remain here. 

A few seconds later after thinking about it, she nodded her head, "don't worry about it Alicia. Luis will be coming with me. He will protect me," Althea had absolute trust in Luis, because he has been protecting her since she was young. 

"Well, if you say so. There's a secret passage that you can leave through. It's connected to the woods. I can't help you much once you are out of the castle, so make sure that you stay safe. Once you are settled, write me a letter to let me know you are fine”

Alicia whispered 

The next day

Alicia had come to the castle saying she wanted to watch Althea train but it was to help her escape. She assisted Althea and Luis in distracting the guards watching her and also her maid and helped them sneak out of the castle without Damian knowing.
