CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FOURTY FOUR
CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FOURTY FOUR
VIVIAN'S POV
I looked back into the cell. It looked like it was the worse place on earth. But I expected it already. Alpha Logan was a pretty smart person. Three people had already died. He had to suspect someone. But he suspected the wrong person. Because I might be in the cell, but the operations were still going to be carried out. Nothing was going to stop them.
There was blood on the walls. There were bones of people that were obviously being tortured there. At a corner of the room, there was a damp place that was obviously for peeing. On the other side, there was an only stack of hay probably for sleeping. The condition of the place made a shiver run through my spine. But I couldn't be seen begging him. It wasn't going to long until he was in the cell serving his own punishment. It would definitely happen in due course.
The cell was dimly lit, with a little bulb hanging up the ceiling. I found myself sitting down on the old stack of hay. It was the only thing that was in the room that I could seem to tolerate.
The one thing I could think about was Miles. I had given him to Anna because I couldn't have him in a place like this. He deserved so much more than I had ever offered him. I was already regretting bring him over to the pack. We were doing so much better in the city. I was regretting forcing Amelia here as well. It was almost like I was making the both of them suffer.
But then, we were almost done with everything that included the plan. We were doing good so far. We were already halfway gone.
The look that Anna gave me, told me that she knew what to do with Miles. I just hoped that I wasn't imagining things. She looked like a completely changed person dressed in that white outfit. Her hair was sleek, looking like the perfect thing in the world. Compared to the Anna that I knew that loved lose curls framing the sides of her face, she looked strange. But then, she was Anna. No one could ever certify what her next moves were going to be.
I heard footsteps approaching my cell. I held my breath, hurrying to the cell gates. I didn't know if it was just Alpha Logan again. Something in my head told me that it wasn't. I wanted to be extremely hopeful.
“Ma'am,” Enzo said, stepping into the light, and I felt myself let out breaths of relief.
“Enzo,” I called out, and he gave me a one sided smile. “You were the one that finished off with Ryan right?” I whispered, and he nodded.
“He might be a Beta, but he wasn't strong.”
“How did you get in?” I asked, with my eyes widening. “I hope you didn't kill them as well.”
He shook his head, keeping his hands in the air. “I only did the same thing you did when you were coming to our pack.”
He said, and I exhaled again. The guards at this pack were sure hungry. They didn't ever take any opportunity to reject food. Considering that with what happened with them the last time, they sure loved taking risks.
“I just wanted to ask if we should round things up tomorrow,” he said, and I leaned against the wall. There was this idea that was in my head, and I loved the way it was sounding.
“No,” I said firmly, and he arched an eyebrow. You and your men can take a day's break,” I told him, and he nodded.
“Do you want me helping you escape?” He asked, and I shook my head. In as much as I just wanted to lay down on silk sheets on a proper bed, I had to be there in the cell if I wanted things to go properly. The suffering was going to be worth it. It had been worth it so far. Three of the people who had made my life miserable were gone.
Mark never missed an opportunity to mess with me.
Beta Ryan was the one that was backing Alpha Logan up when he came to attack out pack.
And I didn't even want to talk about Vincenzo. He was the main person that was behind almost all the attacks that Alpha Logan had ever planned. I was more than glad that Enzo was smart enough to take him out first. And I had to watch that part.
“Thank you,” I said, holding his hand through the cell bars. I could feel him flinch. Of course, it was normal for such men. They never got touched with affection. They were assassins, and assassins alone for Alpha Kyle. They didn't have a life outside that. And it was all too normal.
“That's alright, ma'am,” he said in a softer tone. “I'm glad we could help. Alpha Kyle did ask me to tell you that you are more than free to come back to the pack anytime you feel comfortable.”
I nodded, not saying a word..I didn't see myself going back there. Unless I wanted to ask him to get ready for the final strike. Apart from that, I was all too sure that what I wanted was justice. And that was all. I didn't know what I wanted to do after that. Or what I wanted to do with Amelia. I was sure that she was going to be stuck to me either way. I was preparing myself for that.
“You should leave now,” I told Enzo, and he nodded, heading out of the dungeon. I went back to laying on the hay. All I had to wait for, was Alpha Logan. I was prepping myself for whatever amount of terror and pressure he was about to put on me. I knew that he was going to try making me speak.
Either that, or he was going to force to me to try and heal Derek. I didn't even know about the healing powers they were talking about. I think my dad said something like that when I was in a trance with him. But none of that was true. I couldn't even communicate with my wolf.
Yes, you can. A voice in my head insisted, but I quickly shut it off. I wasn't going to allow myself keep day dreaming and deceiving myself when there was no hope at getting anything done.
I slept and woke up there on the floor. I raised my head, noticing that the cell door was open. Alpha Logan. Was standing right in front of me.
“Well, if it isn't Vivian,” he said in a deep voice that made shivers run through my spine. If he wanted to kill me, he would. But then, he wouldn't. Not when the priestess just told us that I was the only one that was going to be able to treat Derek.
“Just let me go already,” I said, and he cocked his head to the side like he was considering the chances. Like he was weighing his choices. “You have no reason keeping me here. Nothing to gain as well.”
“You don't know that, do you?” He asked, and I narrowed my eyes, already racking my brain to see what his gain might be. There was none.
“Be honest,” he finally said, after sighing as he walked into the cell. I looked at the open cell. If I was quick enough, I was going to able to maneuver and get the hell out of the dungeon. But I didnt know if I wanted to take that risk just yet.
“Be honest about what?” I asked, and squatted down to the stack of hay where I was sitting.
“Did you have anything to do with the deaths?” He asked, and I frowned, shaking my head.
“How can you ask me such a question?” I asked. “You came to take me from my room, and I was with you when they said he was killed. You can search my whole room. Is that why I'm here? Not even because of Derek. Because you thought I killed a full grown man? Your Beta?”
He ran his hands through his hair, and I knew that he had already gone through my room. I could only imagine the stupid files that they had found when he was expecting for find knives and matchetes.
He grabbed my hand, leading me outside. “You're lying,” he said firmly, and I tried to free myself.
He led me to yet another cell. This one had a soundproof glass door. It was properly lighted, and the blood inside was more than the ones in my cell. I scrunched my nose at the smell.
“What are we doing here?” I asked, and he didn't say a word as he forced me to sit down. I tried standing up, but he held me firmly. Men that I didn't even know we're there, suddenly came out of nowhere, trying to hold me down as well.
One of them held my hands and the other held my legs while Alpha Logan chained me to the bench.
In a corner of the room, there was a grill that was on full fire. And an iron rod right on it. My eyes widened.
“Please let me go, I have nothing to do with it,” I begged seriously this time, trying to blink back the tears. I knew that things might have gotten serious, but I didn't expect anything like this.
Alpha Logan let out a laugh. “Maybe when you are ready to confess, I will consider.”
“But there's nothing to confess to,” I said, standing my ground.
For Miles. For Amelia.
I watched Alpha Logan as he took the iron rod that had a red tip out of the grill. He gently took it out, before placing it on my skin. I closed my eyes, crying out as the iron rod practically fried my skin. Apart from my crying, I could hear the sizzling of the iron against my skin. He pressed it in even further. I tried to move away, but the chains on the chair stopped all that from happening.
The other men laughed, and I couldn't help but try to memorize their faces.
“Are your ready to confess?” Alpha Logan asked, and I cried out again.
“There's nothing to confess.”
He repeated to processs on another part of my thigh. He ran his hand through his hair in frustration when he realized that I didn't still say anything.
“Take her back to the cell,” he ordered the men. “She will be executed the say after tomorrow,” he said, and I couldn't stop the smile that creeped to my lips.
