CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FOURTY THREE
CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FOURTY THREE
Logan's POV
I could barely sleep until the early hours of the morning. And that was when the priestess came, and told me that Vincenzo had probably died because Mark wanted to take someone along with his spirit. I knew that Mark was a selfish person. But was it worth him taking someone else? I didn't know if he thought like that. And honestly, I didn't care.
But even if he wanted to take someone, why would it be Vincenzo? They had no business together. Mark practically hated Vincenzo. And likewise. Vincenzo was more or less of a Derek person. And that didn't change until his death.
The little amount of sleep that I was having was being ruined by the guards knocking on my front door again. I opened the door, hoping that I wasn't going to receive any more stupid news. We had already gone through two deaths in one day. I didn't want to hear another one.
“What is it?” I asked, as they opened the door, bowing.
“The Priestess had just gone to check up on Alpha Derek. She said your attention is highly needed.”
Any atom of sleep cleared from my eyes. “Where is she?” I asked.
“At Alpha Derek's room.”
I walked back into the room, making sure to put on my robe as I headed out. I followed them, walking into Derek's chamber. Anna was already there. The room was sparkling clean for the first time in a long time. She was putting on the white dress that she was supposed to be wearing as a widow. It was weird seeing her like that. Without any bit of makeup, and her hair packed in a tight bun at the back of her head. Her face was emotionless, and she barely acknowledged that I was even in the room. Her eyes were firmly set on the priestess.
Derek's eyes were open as well. I could barely even look at him. I hated seeing someone like him in that condition. Somewhere at back of my head, I could see him and Mark getting in those petty banters. But I couldn't be caught slacking at a time like this.
“He has offended someone,” the priestess said as soon as she saw me. I tried to hold myself back from laughing. Derek was just like me. He had stepped on so many toes. And I don't think he regrets any one.
“He has offended people. Is there a particular one?”
The priestess looked into his eyes again, and then turned back to me. “He offended someone that he was in love with. He broke her into pieces.”
“Vivian,” Anna said without second thought. I turned to look at her, but once again, she didn't even look at me.
“She needs to come here immediately. She is the only one that can heal him.”
“She isn't here,” I said, and the priestess frowned.
“But I feel her presence. Her overpowering energy. She needs to come here immediately.”
I turned to Anna. “Go and get her,” I said, and she shook her head.
“Vivian hates me already. She won't come with me.” She was right. If anything, I knew that Vivian, won't even follow anybody to the room. I decided to go and grab her myself. I walked out of the room, and walked right into her room.
Her head perked up as she got Miles dressed up.
“You should knock sometimes,” she said in a light tone. Something nice had definitely happened to her.
“This is my pack,” I said, and she frowned. “This might be your pack, Alpha Logan. But you had given me this room. And you just respect my privacy.”
Who the hell did she think she was? What was giving her all this nerve? I looked away, refusing to acknowledge any of her shenanigans.
“The Priestess needs to see you,” I said, and her eyes widened.
“Why? I didn't do anything.”
“It's because of Derek,” I said, and she hissed. “We need your help in making him feel better.”
Vivian shrugged. “Well, I'm not a doctor. Treating your child should be your problem, and none of mine.”
“He was your mate! The father of your fucking child!”
She held her hand in the air. “Don't you dare swear in front of my child. I am the only parent to my child. Miles does not have a father. And I sincerely do not appreciate you forcing one on him. I'm the only parent he would know.”
Without even thinking, I grabbed her arm, as I pulled her out of the room. She managed to balance Miles against her side. She tried to free herself at the same time.
“Let me go!” She screamed, but I was stronger. “You have caged me in a room. And you still want to force me to see the one person that has made my life miserable?”
She had a point. But I didn't give a fuck. If she was going to be around the palace, then she was definitely going to help Derek get better if she was the cure. I didn't even mind sacrificing her. After all, she didn't have any use to me.
I managed to pull her all the way to the room. It was when we got to the entrance that she put her foot down. “I'm not going in,” she told me. “The priestess can come and talk to me first.”
I hated the way she was trying to boss me around. The priestess was out in seconds like she already heard what Vivian had said.
“He needs your help, child,” the priestess said. “He will die if you don't heal him soon enough.”
Vivian tipped her chin. “I barely even have any access to my wolf. So I have no idea how I'm going to heal him.”
She shook her head. “You are stronger than you think.”
Vivian let out a mocking laugh. “Even if I could, I won't heal him. He ruined my life. He didn't trust me. It was all thanks to my father that I managed to bounce back on my feet. So please. I would like a break.”
I opened my mouth to speak when one of the guards hurried to where I was. “There is an issue, Alpha,” he said breathing deeply. He bent forward, leaning on his knees. I frowned immediately, and so did Vivian.
“What happened?” I asked, and he finally looked up.
“Ryan is dead,” he said, and I could feel my throat close up. Yesterday, it was my personal investigator, and now, it was my Beta?
“How did it happen?” I asked, the guard swallowed hard. I could see him gag.
“I would prefer if you come and see things yourself, Alpha,” he said, and I gestured for him to lead me there.
“I would just head to my room in the mean time,” Vivian said, but I didn't even have the time to answer her. I was already heading to Beta Ryan's room.
I walked into the room, bracing myself for whatever was going to happen. I walked into his room, and I felt my throat close up at the sight. He was stabbed to death, severely. His bed was filled with blood, and I couldn't even imagine the kind of pain that he had been through when he was getting stabbed.
I took a step back, and looked at the guard.
“Prepare to send him over to the other side,” I said, and the guard nodded. I hurried back to Derek's room, where the priestess was still carrying out some kind of tests on him.
“Did you manage to find out exactly what is wrong?” I asked, and she shook her head. But that wasn't even what I came for anymore. I was there to ask her something else.
“Is the pack cursed?” I asked, and she frowned.
“Why would you ask that, Alpha?” She asked.
“Because three people have died within the past two days. Does that seem normal?” I asked and she looked away.
“It might just be the moon goddess taking revenge for someone in the pack.
There was only one person that I knew that the moon goddess might actually fight for.
“Keep looking for the cure for him. I'll be right back.”
She called me back immediately. “There isn't any need for me to look for a solution, Alpha. I have already told you the solution.”
My jaw locked. If that girl had something to do with Derek's illness, then she was definitely going to pay for it.
I headed upstairs immediately. I pushed the door open immediately. “Come with me,” I said, grabbing her hand again. She opened her mouth to protest.
“What did I do this time?” She asked. “I'm not going to see Derek no matter what you do. So just give up on it.”
I was still dragging her out of the room, when she tried to break herself free. “Can I at least take Miles with me?” She asked, and I refused, but she managed to pull the little boy along with her. I didn't know why I wasn't too affectionate towards him just yet.
As I led her through the hallway, I couldn't stop myself from smirking. It had been a while since I tortured anybody.
“I would advice you to keep him. Trust me. The place I'm taking you, isn't a place you would like your child to see you.”
“What's going on?” Anna asked, bumping into the both of us.
Vivian quickly gave Anna her child. “Please take care of him. At least until I return.”
Anna nodded, not saying a word more. I pushed Vivian forward, and she didn't seem to struggle anymore. Even as I led her down the dungeon, she didn't budge.
I pushed her into the cell, closing the door in her face. “I will be back.”
She leaned back, with her hands folded across her shoulders. I locked the doors to the cell immediately, slipping the keys into my pocket..
“I will be expecting you, Alpha Logan.
