Chapter 73: Surprises

The next morning, Amy woke up to the smell of coffee and pancakes. She noticed that the twins were not by her side, so she quickly got up. When she went downstairs to the kitchen, Zack greeted her as he busily cooked while the twins happily played in the living room.

"Good morning, fiancée," Zack greeted her with a smile, giving her a kiss on the cheek.

"Good morning," Amy replied, a smile forming on her lips. She still couldn't believe what had happened the day before.

While having dinner later, they discussed their wedding plans. "I want it to be simple, Zack. What matters is that the people who are important to us are there," Amy said.

"Anything you want, Love. As long as I get to marry you," Zack replied, making Amy blush even more.

That same day, they started arranging the details of their wedding, with the twins excitedly helping out. The children's enthusiasm was contagious, especially since they wanted to be part of the special day.

But just as everything seemed to be going smoothly, an unexpected twist would test Zack and Amy's relationship once again—a new character would enter the picture, bringing intrigue and chaos.

While Zack and Amy were busy with wedding preparations, Zack received an unexpected call at his office. On the other end of the line was a familiar voice.

"Hello, Zack. It's been a while," the woman said, causing his heart to pound.

"Vanessa?" Zack replied, shock evident in his tone.

"Yes. I'm back in town, and we need to talk. It’s urgent," said Vanessa, his ex-girlfriend who had left him years ago.

"Vanessa, I don’t think we have anything left to discuss," Zack said, trying to keep his emotions in check.

"But this isn’t just about us, Zack. It’s something you need to know," Vanessa insisted.

With a deep sigh, Zack agreed. "Fine. I’ll meet you, but make it quick."

Meanwhile, Amy enjoyed a day out with the twins, strolling in the park and savoring the simple joy of spending time with them. But she noticed that Zack had been unusually quiet since that morning.

When Zack returned home, Amy could sense the weight of something on his mind.

"Zack, is something wrong? You’ve been quiet all day," she asked, gently rubbing his back.

"Nothing, Love. Maybe I’m just tired from work," Zack replied, forcing a smile.

But Amy knew there was more to it. She decided not to press him further, not wanting to cause an argument in their otherwise happy home.

The next day, while Amy focused on wedding decorations, Zack secretly met Vanessa at a café.

"Zack, I came back because I needed to tell you this personally," Vanessa began, her expression serious.

"What is it, Vanessa? I’m about to get married," Zack said, irritation creeping into his voice.

Vanessa took a deep breath before revealing, "Zack, you have a son... and he’s mine."

Zack froze, his blood running cold. "What? Vanessa, are you serious?"

"Yes, Zack. His name is Nathan, and he’s five years old. He’s your son," Vanessa said.

Zack was speechless. How could he process this? How would he tell Amy?

When he returned home, the tension in Zack was palpable. He knew he had to tell Amy the truth, but he feared it might shatter the happy life they had built together.

Later that evening, as Amy busied herself with wedding plans, she noticed Zack staring off into space. His face bore an expression she couldn’t quite read.

"Zack, is there something bothering you?" she asked, approaching him.

Zack turned to her, guilt and unease written all over his face. "Love... we need to talk," he said gravely.

Amy’s heart sank, sensing the seriousness of his tone. "What is it? Did something happen?"

Taking a deep breath, Zack looked directly into her eyes. "I met with Vanessa yesterday," he began.

Amy froze. Her heart raced. "Vanessa? Why? I thought she was out of your life?"

"She told me something... something I didn’t know until now," Zack continued, his voice heavy with guilt.

"What is it, Zack? Just say it," Amy urged, trying to keep her voice steady.

"She said I have a son," Zack admitted, locking eyes with Amy as her expression shifted to shock.

"W-what?!" Amy stammered, stepping back in disbelief. "Zack, what are you talking about? A son? How? When?"

"It was before us, Love. Five years ago. I didn’t know she was pregnant. She only told me now," Zack explained, reaching for Amy, but she pulled away.

"And you believed her right away? Zack, how do you know she’s not lying to manipulate you again?" Amy said, her voice shaking with anger.

"I don’t know, Amy. I don’t know what to do. But if it’s true, I can’t ignore it. He’s my son," Zack said, guilt and confusion evident in his tone.

Tears streamed down Amy’s face. "And what about us? What about me and our kids? Are we just going to take second place now?!"

"No! Amy, you’re my family. You’re the ones who matter most to me. But please, understand that I can’t turn my back on this," Zack pleaded.

Amy didn’t respond. She turned and hurried upstairs, leaving Zack in the living room, overwhelmed and unsure of how to fix the mess.

The following day, Amy left early with the twins, saying they would spend the day at her best friend’s house. In truth, she just wanted some space to process everything.

Meanwhile, Zack decided to take a DNA test to confirm Vanessa’s claim. He needed the truth before making any decisions.

Days passed, and the results came in. Zack called Vanessa to meet again.

"The results are out, Vanessa. He’s mine," Zack said, holding the paper tightly.

"Then you need to take responsibility, Zack. Nathan needs his father," Vanessa replied firmly.

But for Zack, it wasn’t that simple. He had to figure out how to balance his responsibilities to Nathan while keeping his family with Amy intact.

That evening, Zack returned home to find Amy sitting quietly in the living room. He sat beside her, holding the DNA test results.

"Amy, I know you’re hurting. But I want you to know that my love for you and our kids will never change. But what Vanessa said is true. Nathan is my son," Zack said softly.

Amy remained silent, pain evident in her eyes. "I don’t know how to handle this, Zack. I don’t know if I can accept it," she finally said, tears threatening to fall.

"Please, Love. Let’s face this together. You and the kids are still my everything," Zack pleaded.

At that moment, it became clear that their relationship was at a crossroads. Could they stay strong despite the challenges ahead? Or would this revelation tear them apart?
