Christian's POV.

“You are fine now” the doctor came back hours later. “You can decide to get discharged now or just another day here”

It was morning already. Scarlett was still asleep as she had fallen asleep while watching over Logan and I got her to sleep comfortably on the sofa.

“I'm fine now” Logan sat up on the bed. “I'm a business owner, I shouldn't waste time playing sick on the hospital bed”

I laughed and he turned to look at me, surprised. “That doesn't make you cool”

“You can only play cool if you are healthy,” I added.

Logan squinted his gaze and tilted his head like he was trying to understand me. “What's gotten into you suddenly?”

I also couldn't say but I knew I had been acting like we were close, more like we were friends.

I suddenly feel comfortable talking to this guy and now feel comfortable seeing him around Scarlett when I used to hate his presence around her so much.

“What do you mean?” I asked him, trying to play ignorant.

“You've been acting like we are brothers!” He snapped.

I blinked. I thought friends were what was suitable for how I had acted towards him, I didn't know I acted more like a brother.

I laughed. “You must be insane”

It occurred to me at that moment that it was the first time in days since I had talked long and laughed with someone who's not a business partner.

I didn't let him give a reply before I moved away from him, heading to where Scarlett was still sleeping peacefully like a princess.

I was going to wake her up, I didn't mean to crouch down in front of her and stare at her face but that's what I did.

Her closed eyes and lashes captivated me, I stared at her pointed nose and then at her lips and I recalled the first time I kissed those lips.

I was drunk and had acted like nothing happened because I didn't want to let myself be convinced that I was attracted to her.

Suddenly, Scarlett's eyes fluttered open and I was taken aback, surprised.

She blinked, her face also turning in surprise because I know so well that she wouldn't have expected to wake up to see me staring at her.

“I was contemplating whether to let you sleep more or to wake you up because we need to go,” I said, talking calmly.

“I didn't ask anything,” Scarlett said as she sat up.

I also stood up, placing my hands in my pocket.

“He's been discharged. It's time to leave” I said.

Scarlett stood up and packed the little stuff she had which was her bag.

Logan walked out first and she followed.

“You settled the bills?” Scarlett asked me and I replied with a nod.

It should probably be the end of the arson case but I wasn't letting it end here. I know who did it but I wouldn't be handling Ethan to the security.

He remains my blood afterall.

“I guess the arson incident ends here” Logan said like he was in sync with what was going on in my mind.

“No,” I blurted out. “We don't know who did it but this could be a chance to get Walter punished for opening such a place”

Both stopped when they heard what I said.

“Really?” Scarlett asked and she looked elated to hear me say that.

Logan was surprised. He moved closer to me and leaned in closer to my ears.

“Are you insane?” He gritted in a low tone. “You know very well that there's no way you will do this and godfather won't find out it's you”

“You also know better than anyone that you won't be able to drag him down with something like that,” he added.

“What are you two doing?” Scarlett was looking lost and confused as she looked at me.

“You don't need to know” I snapped at her and turned back to Logan immediately.

This time, I leaned in closer to his ears. “You are right, I won't be able to bring him down”

“But once his little secret playground is discovered, he won't be able to create another one so soon” I paused. “A win-lose fight is still a fight”

Scarlett didn't push to know what we talked about, I only gestured for her to resume walking and she did after glaring at me.

Outside the hospital, the car was ready and Tom had already got out of the driver's seat to get the doors opened when he saw us approach.

Scarlett got into the car and I walked to the other side but before I could walk in, Logan was beside me again.

“If you wish to take Walter down together, you know how to get my contact, contact me” he said. “I'll be waiting”

I stared at him for moments longer than I intended and I could see the pain in his eyes, pain caused by Walter who took his father away for his own gain.

I nodded. “Thank you once again for saving Scarlett”

Inside the car, there was silence and I could tell that Scarlett looked angry, either because of the way I snapped at her or because she didn't get to know what I talked about with her friend.

I decided to break the silence. “I thanked him for saving you and he wanted me to be careful when dealing with Walter, he told me Walter is dangerous”

She snapped her head to me. “I didn't ask again” she said and her voice was filled with venom.

“I'm not curious,” she emphasized.

“You were earlier” I teased her. “You don't want to know anymore?”

“Yes, not anymore” she said and I decided to take that as a thank you for the little information I had just offered her because I knew what she said was actually a lie.

I stared at Scarlett and couldn't take my eyes off her lips. She also stared back and her face told me she was getting nervous, her gaze pinned under mine.

I moved close to her and couldn't keep myself from kissing her. I slammed my lips into hers, savouring every corner of her mouth.

I've been holding back for days, but right now, I want to fuck her so badly.
