Conrad
I am glad Maya seemed better this morning, even after what happened with Bridget this morning. I honestly didn’t realise she was flirting with me until Maya mentioned it. It didn’t matter anyway; I was not interested.
“Time for a shower, I think.” Maya smiles as she finishes up breakfast.
She stands, gathers her dishes and puts them in the sink. She heads towards the shower, and I follow.
“Wait up,” I call after her.
She stops in her tracks and turns to me, her hand on her hip, “Why? You aren’t invited.” She smirks.
“What? Why not? We always shower together.” I huff.
“Not today, babe.” She snickers.
I cross my arms over my chest and pout. She shrugs, turns away and rushes towards the bathroom. I try to catch up with her, but she closes and locks the door before I can.
“Maya!” I whine and knock on the door.
I hear her laughing loudly on the other side and the shower being turned on. Oh, she meant it when she told me the challenge was on. I thought she was messing with me, but I realised she wasn’t after what happened. I can play along. I am curious about who will break first. I groan in frustration and decide to tidy up to help distract myself. It doesn’t take long, and I become impatient.
I make myself another coffee and wait for her to come out of the shower. She seems to be taking longer than she usually does. I groan and head through to the bedroom to wait for her. I strip down to my boxers and sit at the bottom of the bed.
Finally, I hear the bathroom door open. Maya comes into the room with only a towel in her hair and nothing else. She was naked. I groan and shift where I sit. I was not expecting this.
“Sorry, I didn’t have enough towels.” She says innocently, a sexy little smile on her lips.
It is a lie. There are plenty of towels in the bathroom.
“Sure, you did. This isn’t going to work on me.” I protest, all while running my eyes over every inch of her beautiful body.
“What isn’t going to work on you, babe? I am not doing anything,” she says innocently.
“You know what you are doing. You are trying to break with all your womanly ways.” I pout.
Maya shrugs, “I don’t know what you mean, handsome.”
Maya heads to the closest where clean towels are kept. She opens the doors and bends over to take one from the bottom shelf.
“Fuck,” I moan and take in the view, my length throbbing.
I hear her giggle to herself. She finally wraps a towel around herself, “You should shower now. We have a busy day ahead of us.”
“You are mean.”
Maya gives me a sly look, “You started it. You should have thought about the consequences.”
“It isn’t going to last. You will break first.” I say confidently.
Maya laughs loudly, tossing her head back, “No, I won’t. You will.”
I shake my head, chuckle and head to grab a quick shower. I may need to sort my growing issue out, too, since Maya wants to continue to tease me. I will keep it together. I refuse to lose, but I believe it will be easier said than done because the woman has a way of making me become completely weak. I need to stay strong.

“Well, you lasted long before you broke.” Maya giggles from next to me on the bed, panting.
“What did you expect when you continued to walk around naked?”
“I told you, you would lose.” She snickers.
I lasted not even an hour before I gave in and pounced on her. I couldn’t take her nakedness and seductive looks any longer. She didn’t seem to mind. She enjoyed the idea that she won.
“I should have known. You do things to me. You make me weak.”
Maya scoots over and places her head on my chest, “I do?” she whispers, kissing over it.
I close my eyes and groan, “Yes. I thought you knew that.”
“I know I had an effect on you, the same way you do me, but I didn’t realise I make you weak.” She says and nuzzles my neck.
“Well, you do, beautiful. You have me smitten.” I reply and kiss the top of her head.
She glances up at me and flashes her beautiful smile at me, “You have me smitten too. You are a good man, Conrad. The best man I have ever met.”
“Thank you, sweetheart. I try my best to be a good man.” I say and stroke her face.
“I don’t know what I did to deserve you.”
She reaches down and presses her lips to mine in a gentle kiss. I pull her over me, kissing back. When we part.
“You deserve the world, beautiful.”
I hug her tightly to my chest. I bring the covers over us and caress her back. She lets out a yawn. I know she had a bit of a restless night last night, even if she didn’t tell me.
“Are you tired?”
“A little.”
“Take a nap, angel. After, we can go out for lunch.” I suggest.
She nodded and went to roll off me, but I didn’t let her move.
“You can stay right here, beautiful,” I whisper and kiss the top of her head.
“You are going to stay in bed with me?”
“Yes, I will stay right here with you.”
I wasn’t tired, but I would happily lay here until she fell asleep. I know she sleeps better when I am next to her. I may drift off if I lie here long enough.
“Okay, but don’t let me sleep long. I don’t want to waste our day by sleeping.”
“I will wake you up in an hour. Promise.”
Maya steals another kiss before cuddling back into me. It doesn’t take long for Maya to drift off. Her breathing evens out, and her entire body relaxes against mine. I smile. I always like having her this close to me.
I wish we could stay like this for a little longer, but we head back to the city tomorrow evening. I just hope things will be calm when we do. If I could keep Maya here, protect her, and know she would be safe, I would do it for as long as it would take, but I know it isn’t possible.
Things have been fine recently since my run-in with Callum. He hasn’t been around. I like to think it is the end of it, but I really don’t know that for certain.
The sound of Maya whimpering in her sleep pulls me from my thoughts. I hope she isn’t having one of her nightmares. She has them frequently. She never tells me about them, but I know she has them.
I caress the small of her back, which is something that helps calm her. It takes a second, but the whimpering stops, and she returns to her peaceful sleep. I close my eyes and decide I may as well get some sleep, too.
