Eighty eight

We both paused at the sound of the voice and turned to look at its owner. It was the president. He stood by the doors of his office, his hands in his picket with an air of coldness and his expression also bearing thee same look of hostility as he repeated, "What are you two doing?"

Ms. Clara seemed to have been woken up as she quickly released my hair from her grip, urging me to remove mine from hers, too. We stood across each other, eyeing each other with obvious hostile looks as I couldn't help but wince from the twinge I felt in scalp after the drawing and dragging around by her.

She adjusted her outfit as he approached us, sewing that we were quiet. His cold look had not diminished in the slightest, and he looked rather upset; but I could tell tell if rhat anger would only be directed toward me. After all, I had hurt and fought with his girlfriend.

God, what was I thinking? No matter what, I shouldn't have raised my head. I should have bore it silently, just as I always did.

I crossed my fingers and was about to speak up when he reached us. "President..."

But she suddenly interrupted me, eager to speak first. "Darling, you're out. I was just about to come see you in your office."

I paused at her sudden cheerful and eager boice, finding it incredulous that she could have such a tone when she was obviously so hostile and rude with me.

But since she had already taken the lead and he looked at her seemingly waiting for her to explain, I decided not to interrupt.

"Explain what just happened," he responded in a cold tone, obviously paying no attention to her flattery.

Her face turned ashen, but she soon regained her composure as she pointed at me. "It's this employee of yours. She was rude to me. You should fire her."

"What did she do that was so rude?" He questioned, and her breath hitched. I could tell she had nothing to say. She probably didn't want to sound unreasonable to him by telling him that she had stopped me for no reason and poured coffee on me."

She was quiet for a few seconds before she stuttered, "I'm telling you. She was rude. That's all you need to know, just fire her."

I gave her a look, unable to mask my smile. Even a blind could see how guilty she was as she was unable to explain. I turned to look at the president and said, "Sir, I can explain."

He looked at me and nodded, urging me to explain.

I stepped forward and recounted all that happened to him in detail. "I was just coming out of my office to give you your coffee, but she suddenly stopped me, accusing me of ignoring her. I apologized for that and even Ms. Vivian pleaded with her. But she didn't relent. She told me to quit or she would make sure I was sacked, and then she downed me in coffee."

I said all I needed to in a quick and successive manner before looking at his face. I couldn't tell what he was thinking but after a moment, he turned to her whose face looked ashen.

"You couldn't explain yourself, and with her explanation, it is evident that you are indeed guilty,"he said to her. "Apologize to my employee for harassing her and pouring coffee on her. And pay for the coffee you wasted, the same rate at a coffee shop."

She looked shocked as she pointed at herself. "I should apologize to her?" She looked my way, regarding me from up to down as though she couldn't believe she was going to apologize to someone like me.

I also couldn't believe he would really ask her to apologize, but I was relieved anyway.

She whined. "Dominic, you can't do this to me. I'm your girlfriend, how can you ask me to apologize to such a person?"

"And why shouldn't I? Making you apologize to her is even the least you could do right now."

She seemed unable to believe her ears and cried, "I won't do it. I won't apologize to her."

As though he had expected such, he said almost immediately. "Okay then, expect to be summoned in the station tomorrow for harassment and intrusion of private property."

She looked shocked, but he didn't seem bothered anyway as he looked my way, saying to me, "Come to my office."

And then, he turned to leave, paying no attention her as he entered his office and closed the door.
