Chapter 181 Defection of the Assassin

Chapter 181 Defection of the Assassin

Oliver looked serious.

He had wanted to take Alison to the garage to hide. There was a safe room built beneath the garage, with defenses even stronger than a bank vault.

He just didn't expect the assassin to arrive so quickly!

And this villa had been renovated with the strongest bulletproof glass available. If the assassin could smash through the glass, the equipment in his hands must be pretty sophisticated.

Alison put on her robe under the covers. Cold wind poured in through the broken window. Alison shivered and bent down to pull out two aluminum briefcases from under the bed.

The assassin wore tight black tactical gear and a mask, with only his features exposed.

He and Oliver simultaneously raised their guns at each other. Alison shouted. "Don't shoot!"

"There's twenty million dollars here." Alison opened the case in front of her. "Don't shoot."

The assassin nodded slightly.

Alison breathed a sigh of relief. During this time, besides arranging bodyguards for her, Oliver had also given her a lot of money. Oliver said most professional assassins killed for money, and as long as you didn't run into some psycho who killed for fun, you could try negotiating with money.

But was twenty million dollars too much to pay for him not to shoot?

Alison looked uncertainly at Oliver.

Oliver gave her a reassuring look. "Give it to him."

Alison closed both cases, laid them flat, and kicked them over.

The assassin stopped the cases with one foot.

Oliver asked coldly. "Who's your employer?"

The assassin shook his head, refusing to say.

Oliver asked again. "What's your employer's goal?"

Alison pulled out two more cases from under the bed and opened them toward the assassin. "Answer properly, and all of this is yours."

Forty million dollars already exceeded what the employer had paid. The assassin followed professional ethics by not revealing the employer's identity, but he could answer Oliver's second question.

"My employer wants the account book, Mr. West's nude photos, and to slash Alison's face and mouth, and cut off both her hands."

Alison raised her eyebrows. When had she offended someone so vicious?

She angrily dragged out two more money cases from under the bed, patting the cases and saying unhappily. "You go slash your employer's face and mouth, break both their hands and feet! I don't need their nude photos—you strip your employer naked and dump them at the TV station entrance. If you agree, all this money is yours. If you don't agree, you're leaving your life here today!"

Six cases added up to a considerable fortune. The assassin's gaze moved from the money cases to Oliver's face. "Sixty million dollars, all mine? You're sure?"

Oliver answered calmly. "Sure. What Alison means is what I mean."

The assassin nodded readily. "Okay, I'll take this job."

Alison kicked the four money cases over, feeling like she'd spent the money a bit too generously.

"Oliver and I were sleeping just fine, and you woke us up. We didn't sleep well, so your former employer—"

"They won't sleep well either," the assassin said tactfully.

Alison asked slyly. "They?"

The assassin shut his mouth.

"Fine, torture them for a few more days. Thanks."

The assassin nodded, picked up the six cases and was about to leave from the balcony when the head bodyguard arrived, apologizing to Oliver and Alison. "This is my failure!"

Outside the bedroom and below the balcony were all bodyguards. Taylor, Manuel, and Oscar, who were staying overnight at the villa, also held weapons and watched the assassin warily.

The assassin turned to look silently at Oliver. Oliver glanced at him. "Let him go."

The bodyguards cleared a path, and the assassin moved nimbly and quickly slipped out of the villa.

As soon as he left, someone went to check where he had infiltrated and patch up the security gap.

"Everyone go back to sleep. We'll talk about anything else later," Oliver said to everyone.

Oliver's room was temporarily uninhabitable, so the two went to Alison's room.

Alison fell flat on the bed, heartbroken and unable to breathe. "Sixty million dollars!"

Oliver shrugged. "Hiring an assassin is still pretty cost-effective."

Sleeping on hundreds of millions of dollars in cash every day, sixty million wasn't much to Oliver.

Alison regretted it. "The only person who hates me that much and wants to slash my face is Willow, right?"

Oliver nodded hesitantly. If the employer was Willow, did she want his nude photos to blackmail him?

"But Willow's current assets shouldn't exceed eight million dollars."

Alison asked, "Someone's working with Willow. Who do you think it is?"

"I'll have someone investigate. It's late, let's sleep." Oliver slipped under the covers and hugged Alison.

Alison had no desire to sleep, staring at the ceiling and muttering. "Too impulsive. There was absolutely no need to spend sixty million dollars to deal with Willow!"

Last time she made Willow suffer badly without spending a cent. Alisonland's annual revenue was around eighty million dollars—she'd just spent a year's worth of the amusement park's profit in a few sentences.

Alison covered her head with the blanket and groaned softly.

Oliver was thinking about how to comfort her when Alison lowered the blanket, her eyes burning as she asked, "That assassin won't take the money and not do the job, will he?"

"No," Oliver said. "He should be an A-level assassin from the world's largest assassin organization, 'Soul Reapers.' Their credibility is among the higher tier in the industry."

"That's good." Alison gritted her teeth. "I'm waiting to see which bastards get their faces slashed and stripped naked and sent to the TV station!"

Oliver noticed Alison had completely overlooked the account book matter, but he didn't remind her. He was thinking about who had carelessly leaked the news that Alison had found the account book.

The next day, Alison stared at local news online, refreshing every so often, but didn't see anyone stripped naked and sent to a TV station.

Three days passed quietly.

Alison asked Henry to help her find out about Willow, learning that Willow had been staying home obediently lately because her stepson had returned from abroad.

Henry excitedly told her. "Willow's house was robbed last night! When her butler and bodyguards were catching the thief, they accidentally caught Willow and her stepson Brice having sex!"

Alison guessed this "thief" was very likely that assassin.

She asked Henry with interest to tell her more details.

Henry said, "I don't know Willow that well, but I know Brice very well! This guy is only three years younger than Willow. They probably hooked up soon after Willow became his stepmother. His family is in the stone carving business, with several mines, but when his father Grant was still alive, those mines were already pretty much mined out."

"After Grant died, Brice heard the rumors. He's extremely proud, so to distance himself from Willow, he took his inheritance abroad to start a business. Actually, that guy has no business sense at all—he just went abroad to play. I heard he gambled big at casinos and lost a lot of money. He came back this time to ask Willow for money!"

Henry's laugh sounded like a duck. "Brice just got back a few days ago and doesn't know yet that Willow's reputation is already ruined. He's desperate for money, so he couldn't wait to sleep with Willow. This burglar's timing at their house was just perfect!"

Although Alison didn't hear the information she wanted, knowing Willow was having a bad time put her in a good mood.

Two days later, big news made Alison forget about tracking the assassin's movements.

Santos had appeared!

The first thing Santos did upon his return was hold a press conference, responding very firmly to all doubts and insisting he was innocent.

The second thing he did was hold a grand funeral for his son Dorian, who had been dead for some time.

Both Alison and Oliver received obituary notices, invited to attend the funeral.
