Chapter 71: Unexpected Visitors
Vishiea’s POV
“Yes, Mr. Fort. I will make sure to deliver it to your house,” I said while talking to Mr. Fort, a businessman. I decided to have a business and I succeeded. I became the number one supply of wines. This business only started two months ago, but now, everyone wants to meet me to discuss opportunities.
He went all the way here to buy it personally and watched how we made the wine. Mother Kiara has taught me a lot of things.
“Thank you for, I’ll get going now,” he uttered. I nodded my head before he left.
“Anastasia!” I heard someone call my name. When I looked at who it was, I saw Cynthia. She’s my friend, she’s actually working with me right now.
“Cynthia, I thought you went to Carban?” I asked her. It’s a place where her parents want her to stay. She shook her head and got closer to me.
“No, I won’t go there. They will only force me to marry someone who is not my mate,” she uttered. My forehead knotted. I thought she’d only live there, but it turned out she’d be forced to marry.
“What do you mean? I thought your parents wanted you to stay there for good? You didn’t mention to me that you’re getting married,” I said while placing the papers on my desk.
Cynthia is beautiful, she’s still young. Yet her parents wanted her to marry.
“Correction, I didn’t mean I’m getting married. I also thought they wanted me to live in Carban, but it turned out they arranged a marriage. What’s worse is that I’m getting married to someone who is not my mate! Imagine? That’s a big no! I haven’t met my mate and that someone they arrange for me to marry will never be my mate,” she said like she wants to burst out her emotions right now.
Right, that’s the reason why she came back here.
I get it now.
“What about your parents? Do they know you went back here?” I asked her. She sat on the chair and looked at me undecided. Nah, I get it now.
“Nope, we fight. I told them I am not going to marry that guy, I escaped from home. The thing is… I have nowhere to go and…” she paused and looked at me with pleading eyes. She smiled widely and I already knew what she meant.
“I have nowhere to go. That’s why I decided to go back here. Please? Let me stay here. I’ll work. It’s fine if you will not pay me, just let me stay,” she uttered. I nodded my head and she smiled happily.
I know what it feels like when you have nowhere to go because I already experienced that… besides Cynthia is not new to me.
“Don’t worry, you can stay here and I will pay you,” I told her. She jumped in excitement.
“You’ll never regret this, Anastasia. If you want me to do something just tell me,” she said proudly. I smiled.
The door swung open suddenly. Dylan entered. His attention shifted on me and to Cynthia.
“I’ve been trying to talk to Mr. Harold, but it seems like he has withdrawn his investment,” he said while placing paper on my desk.
I am not surprised. The last time we talked, he didn’t really like the plan. But that’s fine, I already found someone to replace him.
“Who is he?” Cynthia asked me. Dylan looked at him. Right, I forgot to introduce them to each other.
“Cynthia, this is Dylan, and Dylan, this is Cynthia, a friend of mine. From now on she’ll be staying with us.” I introduced them. Cynthia offered her hands for a handshake and Dylan accepted it.
“It’s nice meeting you.” Cynthia smiled at Dylan.
“Me too,” Dylan answered. They both let go of each other’s hand.
“About Mr. Harold, it’s fine, I found another businessman. His name is Mr. Lou, this is all the information he has. I scheduled a meeting with him already and you’ll meet him to discuss matters.” I gave him the papers. He nodded his head.
“Alright then, I have to go,” he said and left. Cynthia sat on the chair and looked at me.
“Who is he? Is he your mate? He’s handsome,” she giggled.
“No, he’s a friend of mine. He’s helping me with the business,” I told her. Then the door opened.
“Anastasia, darling.” I stood immediately when I saw Aunt Kennedy. We both hugged each other. It’s been two weeks since she left and went to her husband’s place. She didn’t even send me a letter saying that she’d be back right now.
“Aunt Kennedy, you didn’t tell me that you’re coming back,” I told her as we separated from our hugs.
“Well, I want to surprise you. Wait, here. I brought you a dress. Look, this will really suit you,” she said and showed me various dresses. They are beautiful.
“Thank you, Aunt. These are all beautiful,” I told her while looking at the dresses.
“Who is this beautiful woman right here?” She asked, looking at Cynthia.
“Hello, Mrs. Kennedy, I am Cynthia, Anastasia’s friend.” She introduced herself, handing her hands. But Aunt just looked at it and in just a second she immediately hugged her. Cynthia was surprised, but she hugged her back. I smiled at them.
“Oh, darling. You don’t have to be formal. Just call me Aunt Kennedy,” she said while holding her hands.
“But–” Cynthia was trying to talk but Aunt Kennedy waved her finger.
“No, you’re family now. Since Anastasia is your friend, I’ll also consider you as family. Here, I brought foods you can share with me. I also bought Dylan suits,” she told me. I hugged her and didn’t say a word.
I lost my biological parents and Mother Kiara died. But Aunt Kennedy is treating me like her own daughter now. I can’t explain how lucky I am to have them in my life. Aunt Kennedy caressed my back.
“Thank you, Auntie,” I smiled, yet my voice cracked. I’m just happy to have her in my life.
“Oh, dear. You don’t have to thank me. I love you and I am always here for you,” she said. I smiled and nodded my head.
“I–” I was about to talk when the door opened and a guard rushed inside.
“Lady Anastasia, the palace guards are here for you,” the guard uttered.
