Chapter 69 Chapter 69: Weight of Forgiveness
Chapter 69: Weight of Forgiveness
Vishiea’s POV
I stared at him in the eyes. This is the first and last time I will talk to you, Darius. Now that I learned the truth, maybe it’s time to move forward.
Still, I don’t know why the king planned all of that. If he actually did that just to make me think that Darius didn’t really care about me. However, I still don’t get why he still needs to deal with Rachelle.
Why does he still give her the title to be his fiancée? I want to ask him about it, but I know it’s hard to listen to someone you know who won’t tell the truth.
“Should you really need to do that?” she asked me as I rejected him. He held my hand, hoping that I would take back what I said.
Maybe that’s the right decision I could make for myself. To free me from everything from the past.
It hurt, indeed what I experienced wasn’t that easy.
“Darius, we both know this isn’t working. Just be happy with Rachelle,” I told him, avoiding his gaze.
He didn’t agree with me. He came closer and hugged me. I was stiff because of what he did. He’s wet and I can’t even push him.
What should I do? “Darius, let go of me.” I tried to get away from him, but he didn’t let me.
“Please, just give me another chance. This time, I will treasure it. I will do everything to gain your trust again, just please, don’t do this to me. Don’t push me away,” he uttered. I let out a deep sigh.
The two guards came to us and held him. I distanced myself from him.
“Darius, you can’t force me. I’ve been in so much pain for how many years. And it’s all because of you and your family. You ruined my life. It’s not because I already heard the side of your story it doesn’t mean I could forgive you that easily, Darius. The pain that I’ve been through for how many years is nothing compared to what you are experiencing right now!” I told him. I looked at the guards and they immediately left.
“I love you, is that not enough to make you forgive me? I know I was wrong and I fucked things. But Vishiea, I regret everything I did to you. If I could only bring back the time, then I would choose not to listen to my father,” he said, and he’s now crying. I looked at him.
“Love is not enough to heal me. I need space, Darius. Whether you deny it or not, I know you’re happy with your life now. That’s why I don’t think we could still work this out,” I uttered and was ready to leave, but he suddenly kneeled down on the floor. My eyes widened because of what he did.
“Please, I can’t live without you,” he said, begging. I bit my bottom lip to stop myself from crying.
This is the first time I saw Darius like this. The guards even refrained themselves from watching the king kneeling in front of me right now.
“Get up, Darius,” I said firmly, but he didn’t move an inch.
“Just please, forgive me,” he said while looking into my eyes.
I am speechless. I know I can’t do that for now. We already talked about the past, but it doesn’t mean we’re fine now. No, it’s not that easy.
“Darius, please. Just accept it. Don’t force me to do something I can’t do. You know how I suffered because of you,” I told him. He stared at me for a second.
“I’m sorry for everything, Vishiea. It was all my fault. I apologize and I understand if you can’t forgive me,” he said and let out a deep sigh. He looked at me like he had already decided, but pain was still written on his face.
“You should be sorry, my life was ruined. Luckily someone took pity on me and adopted me,” I told him. He wiped his tears.
“Fine, I’ll accept your rejection not because I don’t love you but because I love you and I will always love you,” he said as he stood up.
He grabbed me by my hand and hugged me tight.
“You’re always my one and only, Vishiea. That would never change no matter what happened. I’m sorry for everything I caused you. My love for you stays the same,” he said before finally letting go of me.
He smiled, tucked my hair behind my ears.
“I love you,” he said before finally letting go of me. He then turned around and started to leave while the rain still kept on pouring.
I just watched him leave my place. When he was already gone, I decided to enter, and I saw Aunt Kennedy there.
Her attention shifted to me as I entered inside.
“You finally talked,” she said, while tears started to stream down my cheeks.
She immediately walked towards me and hugged me.
“I’m so proud of you, Anastasia, you overcame your fear, you did a great job,” she said, caressing my back as we sat on the chair.
“Auntie, I already talked to him, but why does it seem like there’s still pain in my heart?” I asked her and she smiled at me.
“That’s normal. You went through so much trial in your life. You told him everything and both of you deserve to know what happened. Maybe you still can’t forgive him because the pain is still fresh, but one day you will learn to forgive and if you do that you’ll breathe a sigh of relief,” she said while caressing my hair.
I wiped my tears and fixed myself.
“I don’t know, Auntie. I am not sure if forgiveness is actually the key for me to feel better,” I told her. She just smiled.
“One day… when the right time comes you’ll find out. Now, you should be happy because you finally talked to him,” she said. I nodded my head.
“Thank you, Auntie. I just hope one day… I wouldn’t feel the same feeling in the future.”
