Chapter 50 Chapter 50: The Challenge
Chapter 50: The Challenge
Vishiea’s POV
Rachelle doesn't actually want to stop bothering me. It's not my fault that Darius wants to shower me with his attention rather than her.
She's sick and definitely out of my league. Last night, Nathan arrived outside the grand hall. I asked him why he went back early, but he answered that there's no fight outside the kingdom.
I know Darius plans to make Nathan leave our table so he can talk to me. Now I understand he's using his men just to make excuses and talk to me.
That's bullshit. Darius, you're such an easy fool, you don't even realize that you baited me into your trap.
You don't know how much I enjoy watching you; you're just being fooled by me. I will let you feel the pain that you gave me years ago.
And about Rachelle? Let her die with jealousy. I won't stop provoking both of you until you lose your mind.
“Lady Anastasia,” Yana entered my room, her eyes welled up with tears. I started to panic and immediately approached her. What happened to her?
“What's wrong? Are you alright?” I asked her. Yet she kept on sobbing. I hugged her and she cried on my shoulder.
“My mother, Lady Anastasia. My mother, she lost her life,” she said, crying. She was just working here earlier when someone called her outside. I thought they received orders from the king, but here she is now crying because she just lost her mother.
I feel bad for her. But that's life. You’ll lose someone important to you, no one will stay by your side forever.
But it hurts to think that you’ll lose someone important to you. A feeling you wouldn't want to feel and accept.
“My condolences, Yana. I’m sorry for what happened to your mother. I know she's so proud of you.” I caressed her hair. I could even feel her pain right now. I remember when my mother died and my father was executed. I almost wanted to die that day.
Seeing my parents dying in front of me was a different pain. A pain that I will always carry my entire life. A memory that I would never forget. I suffered for years while remembering how my parents died. How my life turned upside down. That's why I could feel Yana’s pain.
She fixed herself and separated from the hug.
“I’m sorry, Lady Anastasia,” she said while wiping her tears.
“It's fine, you can leave now and be with your mother. I understand you.” I told her, and she forced a smile.
She nodded her head and I accompanied her outside.
“Thank you, Lady Anastasia. I have to go now,” Yana said and turned her back. While I was walking back to my room I felt something speeding toward me. Just in time, I dodged the arrow that was about to hit my head.
I immediately searched for who's behind that. Even the guards and servants were shocked because of what happened.
“Who did this?!” I asked them, showing them the arrow in my hand.
No one spoke up, but in just a second, Rachelle arrived with a bow and arrow in her hands.
It was her. She pointed the arrow at me and everyone murmured.
“Let's fight. But don't worry. I won’t use this. I’ll give you a good fight,” she uttered as she threw the weapon in her hands. My forehead knotted, acting like I was surprised and didn’t want a fight, but deep inside I’m celebrating.
You really want this, Rachelle? I’ve been waiting for you to challenge me. But I didn't expect that you’d do this early.
“Rachelle, I don't want to play with your silly game. I respect you, and fighting the King's Fiancé means disrespecting the king,” I told her, but she just laughed sarcastically.
I’ll let you laugh for the meantime. But later you’ll cry in pain.
“Just think of this as an honor that I challenge you. But it's up to you whether or not to accept it. You're only showing you're afraid of me. Don't worry, the king won’t even bother to waste his time being here,” she said confidently. That’s good to hear because right now, I already planned how to destroy you.
“Everyone! Watch how I will destroy this bitch in front of you. I will make sure she won’t recognize her own face after the fight.” She even bragged to them. I only stayed quiet yet alert to her move.
I will not give you a chance to even defend yourself, Rachelle. You asked for this, and I will give you the best things I can do to defeat you.
“Is this actually happening?”
“What about the king's opinion?”
“This is very disrespectful on Lady Anastasia's side.”
“Is the king's fiancé really sure about this? I heard she was defeated once by her in their game.”
“There’s no way she would win against the king’s fiancé.”
“Lady Anastasia is stronger than her.”
They started to murmur. Rachelle started to position herself.
I smiled at her, which made her mad.
“This is what you get for messing with me, bitch!” she uttered. I only showed her a sarcastic smile to tease her even more.
But I have a better plan. Showing her that I couldn’t really defeat her. Let me hide my skills in the first round.
She moved faster but not fast enough to defeat me. I acted like I didn’t see her move, but it was clear she was approaching me and planning to slice my throat using her sharp claws.
I dodged it easily but acted afraid. Not too clever, Rachelle. You have to practice your whole life, but even doing that wouldn’t defeat me that easily.
She got furious when she couldn’t even lay a finger on me, which made the fight more exciting.
“I thought she was strong, but the king's fiancé almost killed her on that attack.”
“She should surrender now if she doesn't want to die early.”
“She’s only good at weapons, but she doesn’t know how to fight without them.”
“Is she afraid of her now? She was almost killed by that attack.”
I only laughed with them. That’s actually part of my plan—to make her think that I can’t fight her.
She smirked as she heard what they said.
She then moved closer to me. She’s not that fast, I promise. She tried to pull my hair, but I decided to play tricky. I kicked her legs so fast that she didn’t even see it, and the crowd had no idea what just happened.
Rachelle ended up on the ground.
“Fuck you!” she screamed in pain.
“What just happened?” they asked, but I walked closer to her and tried to help Rachelle, however, she pushed me.
Okay, you really want a hard fight. Then I’ll give it to you.
