Chapter 48 Chapter 48: The Dance of Defiance

Chapter 48: The Dance of Defiance

Vishiea’s POV

After what happened, Nathan tried to comfort me. Cassie and Liliane were asking me what happened between me and the king, but I didn't tell them anything.

I don't want them to know that Darius is suspecting me as Vishiea. This is only between me and him. Since he doesn't want to stop bothering me, I’ll just let him get insane by thinking that it's actually me.

Tonight, the kingdom decided to throw a party in the grand hall, which will be attended by elite lycans. Everyone was excited because they would be meeting different lycans.

This gathering only happens once a year. Since I am already here, I will attend.

“Lady Anastasia, I’m sorry to bother you but can I ask a favor?” Yana said like she's rushing. I noticed her rubbing her fingers. I looked at her with confusion. This is the first time this happened, that she asked for a favor.

“What is it? Why do you look anxious?” I asked her, walked towards her, and held her hand. She faintly smiled.

“I need to go home. My mother is terribly sick and no one could take good care of her but only me. Please Lady Anastasia, my mother needs me. I’ll be back tomorrow.” She said, holding my hand. I smiled and nodded my head.

I remember myself from her, worried about my mother's health.

“You can go, don't worry. Just take care of your mother and be back when she's fine. You can go now,” I told her. She smiled widely.

“Thank you Lady Anastasia, thank you so much.” She said as she looked at me and I smiled. She hurriedly left my room.

I remember when I first came here. Her mother was supposed to serve me but since she's unwell, her daughter became her substitute. Until now her mother is not yet well.

While I am busy thinking of how I will take revenge, someone knocked on the door.

I wasn't expecting any visitors. As I opened the door, a servant was already standing in front. She bowed and smiled.

“Lady Anastasia, I am Kelia, Yana’s friend. She asked me to help you since she couldn't accompany you tonight,” she said. I smiled and let her enter my room.

“Come inside. She didn't tell me she’ll send you here,” I told her. She started cleaning the room even though I didn't ask her.

“She's worried to leave you alone Lady Anastasia. Don't worry, she already told me the things I should do,” Kelia said. I wasn't expecting Yana to do this.

“Kelia, you're still young like Yana. Where are your parents?” I asked her, which made her stop from what she was doing. She then looked at me and smiled.

“My parents were killed when I was a kid. In order to live I stayed and became a servant in the kingdom.” she answered, yet she was still smiling.

I was surprised by what I just heard.

“Sorry to hear that,” I told her. I already grew up when my mother and father died. I am still lucky that Mother Kiara adopted me and showered me with love just like what mothers always do to their children.

“Well, that's life. That's why I decided to be here so at least I can talk to my friends,” she said. I sighed.

“After that, you can leave and take a rest Kelia.” I smiled at her. I started to prepare for tonight's event. I wore my luxurious dress and put on make-up.

“They are actuators, right Lady Anastasia, that’s gorgeous,” Kelia uttered. I chuckled.

“Everyone has their own beauty, Kelia.” I told her before leaving the room.

I walked through the great hall and noticed that the party had just begun. However, as I entered, everyone's eyes were on me.

“She’s gorgeous.”

“I heard she’s Kiara’s only daughter.”

“Wow, that kind of beauty.”

“She’s Lady Anastasia Cullen.”

“She’s stunning.”

They kept on murmuring while looking at me, even ignoring the presence of the king and his fiancé.

I smiled at everyone.

“May we start the music for a dance,” the announcer said. The music started and I sat on the chair.

The guys’ eyes were on me, hesitating whether to ask me for a dance.

“Lady Anastasia,” Cassie and Liliane walked towards me.

I smiled at them.

“You're making them drool on you,” Liliane said. I chuckled. We were busy talking when suddenly someone stood in front of us.

“Can I dance with this beautiful woman?” that familiar voice. I looked at him and I was right.

“Sure, why not.” I placed my hand on his arm.

“Gosh! You two are really suited together,” Cassie giggled.

“You’re gorgeous and it's hard to ignore your presence Lady Anastasia,” Nathan said. I laughed while we were dancing.

“You don't have to shower me with compliments,” I told him. He just smiled while staring at my face.

While we were dancing Nathan stopped. My forehead knotted but soon realized the reason why.

“May I have this dance also?” Darius suddenly approached us. My gaze went to his hand and shifted to Rachelle, who was now gritting her teeth while watching us.

I have no plan of stealing your man, Rachelle.

Nathan's hand was loosening yet I didn't let him. I moved and danced farther from Darius.

“Let's just ignore him. I don't care if he's the king,” I told Nathan and we continued dancing.

My glance shifted to Darius and I couldn't explain his face right now. Did he really think he could easily get me after what he did yesterday?

I am not a fool if that's what he means. I’d rather stay away from him.

“I see. If that's what you want,” Nathan told me as he slowly placed his arm around my waist as the music changed into romantic music.

“Go girl!” I heard Cassie shout. I just laughed at them because they’d been watching us the whole time.

The whole night Darius always made excuses to talk to me but I didn't let him. I ignored him with all I could.

“Can we talk about what happened yesterday? I—” He tried to reach for my hand but I distanced myself and walked away. I can't even bear looking in his eyes.

I am already done with you, Darius.
