Chapter 40 Chapter 40: The Threatening Gift
Chapter 40: The Threatening Gift
Rachelle's POV
“That bitch! How come she looks exactly like Darius’ mate?” Since that bitch came here, Darius has become distant from me.
I noticed Darius giving his attention to that bitch. Is it possible that she’s Vishea’s twin? But I never heard she had a twin. I just can’t believe she looks exactly like Vishiea, who was once exiled in this kingdom.
That’s not even supposed to happen. If someone were exiled from this kingdom, they wouldn’t survive. Because no one would ever accept someone like her.
“Your majesty, I had heard that the king attended Lady Anastasia’s party last night,” my servant said as she bowed before me. I stood up, surprised by what I heard. What did he do?
I closed my fist. Darius is pushing me to my limits. I won’t hesitate to hurt that woman if necessary. I don’t care who she is or where she came from. I am willing to eliminate whoever hinders me from marrying you.
“Tell me what happened at that party, Aly. What did he do there?” I waited for an answer. We already talked about this. I didn’t want him to attend that stupid party, yet he went without even telling me.
He’s the king, but we’re getting married. I’ll be the queen of this kingdom, and that future is near.
Darius, you weren’t like this before. Why are you doing this to me?
“The king only stayed there for a couple of minutes, your majesty. He only went there for some drinks and congratulated Lady Anastasia,” my servant answered. What is that supposed to mean?
“It seems like your majesty has no intention of staying there for so long. That’s the only information I’ve gathered,” she added. I nodded at her and went back to sitting.
Shouldn’t I be worried about that bitch?
However, she defeated me in archery and sword fighting. Who really is she?
No one ever dared to fight me like that. They are all scared of me because I am the king’s fiancé. But she’s totally the opposite.
She almost hurt me with that sword. Now she even got Cassie’s side. That bitch!
I’ve been practicing for how many years in those sports, however she just defeated me easily.
She’s not even scared of me at all. Does she want me to force her to respect me? If that’s the case, I’ll give it to her.
“Your majesty, someone sent you a gift,” she said, showing me a small box.
My brow furrowed. I am not expecting any gift from anyone. Don’t tell me this is from the king?
Did he already realize that that bitch wasn’t exactly what he’s thinking? Now he’s sending me a gift as an apology?!
I smiled in triumph. Darius, you know how to please me. Now you found out the truth—that bitch is nothing compared to me.
“Give it to me,” I ordered her, and she immediately gave the box to me. A smile formed on my lips. Maybe it’s an expensive pendant. I bet what’s inside this box.
“It must be the king’s gift for me.” I looked at my servant, and she also smiled.
“Indeed the king loves you, your highness,” she said, showering me with compliments.
“Of course he does love me. I will be the future queen of this kingdom. He should know how to please me,” I proudly uttered while opening the box. However, instead of a pendant, I found a folder in the box.
“What’s this? Who sent it, Aly?” I asked her, frustrated. She bowed her head, anxious.
“The other servant just gave it to me, your highness. He said it’s for you,” she answered with a trembling voice.
I opened the folder and found a letter.
I read it, hoping that it would give good news to me.
“Your time is running out and you’ll soon be a memory. I’ll torture you until you beg for your own death.”
My eyes widened in shock. I fell on my knees while holding the letter.
“Your highness!” Aly went beside me, concerned. I pointed at the letter, and she immediately read it.
I could see the shock on her face.
“Who dared to threaten your highness?!” she exclaimed.
My hands were shaking in fear. I stood up and went out of my room.
“Who fucking sent me this letter?! Who’s trying to harm me?! Show yourself?!” I started screaming in the palace. Everyone’s attention was already on me.
“Find out who that servant was who gave you this letter, Aly, now! Who dares to threaten me?! I am the king’s fiancé!” I shouted, looking at the maids and even the guests.
“If you’re really tough, challenge me! And I will make sure you will dig your own grave!” No one dares to do this to me.
This is the first time I have received a threat.
“Your highness, he’s here.” Aly pushed the servant on the floor.
“How dare you send a gift to me?! Who gave it to you?! Tell me!” I asked him, eager to find out the truth. Everyone kept murmuring, but I didn’t care.
The servant was so scared that he bowed to me.
“Your highness, someone delivered it to me. I was just instructed to deliver it to you. Please forgive me,” he said, begging for mercy.
“Do you know what’s inside that gift?” I asked him. He shook his head while I kept on glaring.
“Your majesty, I have no idea what’s inside that box. I don’t remember the person who gave it to me. He was in disguise. His face was covered with black fabric,” he explained.
I gritted my teeth. That’s not the answer I want to hear.
“Give me a sword!” I ordered the guards. They immediately provided it to me.
“That gift has a letter inside of it. Threatening my life! Now tell me the truth before I end your life! Who the fuck gave you that?!” I asked him one last time.
Maybe he’s lying. He should tell me the truth right now or I’ll kill him.
“Your highness! Please spare me. I don’t actually know who gave me that box,” he started crying. But I don’t care.
“You liar! I will not let this slip. Threatening me is like threatening the king! I won’t spare your life.” I told him. He cried and started begging, but I didn’t care. Everyone was watching us.
“I hope this serves as a lesson to everyone who dares to mess with me. Now I will kill you with my own hands.” I raised the sword and was ready to cut his head off.
“That’s enough!”
“Your majesty.”
