Chapter 30 Chapter 30: Tipsy
Chapter 30: Tipsy
Visheia's POV
Cassie and Liliane are both drunk. I only had two shots, but I'm already tipsy. My alcohol tolerance hasn't changed at all—still as low as ever.
"Cassie, can you still walk?" I asked while gently tapping her cheek. She was asleep on the sofa with her feet up on the table.
She hummed and pushed my hand away. "I want to sleep more," she said grumpily. I chuckled. I guess we can't go home in this state.
"Alright, sleep. I'll go find Nathan and ask if we can spend the night here," I said. She just nodded in response.
I shook my head and stood up. Where is Nathan? I looked around and spotted him talking with his older brother.
I walked towards them, even though my vision was spinning. Nathan immediately stopped talking when he saw me approaching.
"Hi, is there a problem?" he immediately asked me. Was it obvious on my face that I needed something from him? Or did he know that the two were drunk? I chuckled at that thought.
"Can we stay here tonight? Cassie and Liliane are drunk. They can't stand up. I can't drive either because my head is spinning," I said. He stared at me, but after a moment, he nodded.
"Yes, of course. Where are they?" he asked. Is he ignoring his brother now? "They're at our table. I'll show you the way," I replied.
He nodded. We were about to leave, but Hanzel stopped us. "Let me help you," he offered. I just nodded.
He also nodded and joined Nathan and me. As we walked towards Cassie and Liliane's spot, the three of us were silent until Nathan decided to speak.
"Are you leaving later, or will you sleep here?" he asked Hanzel. His brother looked at him, but I noticed him glancing at me. He indeed found me suspicious. I grinned at the thought.
"I need to go back to the palace to guard the king," Hanzel answered. He's loyal to the king even though the king's fiancée is his mate. That's impressive yet unconvincing.
"I see. After taking the girls to their room, you can leave; your captain might scold you," Nathan said. I didn't know if they were close or not.
I can't tell. I shrugged my shoulders and looked away. I glanced at Cassie and Liliane, who were now side by side on the sofa. They're a mess when drunk. Cute.
"Carry Liliane, I'll assist Cassie," Nathan said to his brother. I stayed quiet while listening to the two of them.
"Okay," Hanzel replied. I watched them wake up Cassie and Liliane to ask for permission to carry them. They were such gentlemen. I don't know why Rachelle traded Hanzel. She had the right guy, yet she let him slip through her fingers.
"Follow us, Anastasia," Nathan said while carrying Cassie in his arms. I nodded and quietly followed them.
We walked for a few minutes until we reached a room. "My room is next to this one. If there's any problem later on, you can knock and ask for my help," he said.
"Okay," I replied. They laid the drunk Cassie and Liliane on the bed. "Why am I here? I still want to drink. Take me back!" Cassie kept murmuring.
I chuckled, "I'll take care of them. Thank you, Nathan..." I looked at his brother, "Hanzel." They nodded to acknowledge my gratitude.
After that, Nathan took a deep breath and smiled slightly. "Alright. We'll be leaving then. Have a good rest," he said before pulling his brother out of the room.
When the door closed, I grinned. "I need to dig up information about Hanzel," I murmured. It seems Rachelle has gotten attached to Darius. I saw how badly he treated her, yet she's still with him, leeching like a leech.
I went over to the bed where Cassie and Liliane were. They were sharing one bed. The bed was large and spacious, but I'll let the two of them use it to rest well. There's a couch in the room, so I'll sleep there.
I removed their heels and then pulled the sheet up to their chests. "Goodnight, girls," I murmured before heading to the couch. I sat down and leaned back. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.
I stayed that way for an hour. I couldn't sleep even though I was a bit drunk. I frowned and opened my eyes.
I went out of the room and looked around. Is the party over? I asked myself. I shrugged my shoulders and pressed my lips tightly.
Maybe I'll take a walk since I can't sleep. I wonder how Mother Kiara, Dylan, and the others at the mansion are doing? I miss them. I feel like going home.
I stopped walking and approached the balcony. This mansion is huge too. I can see the palace not far from here. It's majestic, yet that place makes my heart ache.
I used to have beautiful memories there. But all of that has been replaced by sadness and anger. I bit my lip and hugged myself when I felt cold.
But I immediately felt warm when I sensed a coat draped over my shoulders. I looked up and saw Nathan standing next to me.
What is he doing here? He's not looking at me. "You look bothered," he said. Am I that much of an open book now? I chuckled and looked away. I looked again at the scenery in front of us.
"I am," I honestly answered. He laughed softly as he leaned on the railing. "You are? If you don't mind, may I know why?" he asked.
He used to do this before whenever he saw me staring into the horizon. I would stay silent if something was bothering me.
"I just remember my mother. To be honest, I want to leave here now and be with her. She's sick, and it makes me feel worse to think that I'm not by her side during this time," I said.
He let out a sigh, "Quite troubling indeed. Why don't you go back home for a while and then return here when you need to?" he suggested.
I wish it were that easy. I have unfinished business here that I need to complete. I shook my head, "No. I'll stay here until the festival is over." He nodded and didn't say anything else.
"By the way, why are you here at this hour? Is your party over?" I asked. He looked at me again and nodded.
"I ended it not so long ago," he answered. I see. Silence filled the atmosphere. We just stood there, staring at the palace.
"Lady Anastasia, you remind me of someone I used to know," he suddenly said. I know, it's Visheia. I want to tell him that it's me, but I stopped myself.
I can't ruin my plan. He faced me, looking at me intently. "Someone important to me. I know this sounds absurd, but I can't help but think you and she are the same person."
He's not wrong. He stood up straight. "You resemble her. The king, everyone here thought she was you. Could it be that she had a twin we didn't know about?"
He seems serious. I couldn't stop myself from chuckling. "I believe the person you're referring to is the king's former mate, Visheia?" I said straightforwardly.
