Chapter 51 Chapter Fifty One

Chapter 51 Chapter Fifty One
CANDY’S POV

“Yours.”
I'd said that word over and over again last night while I’d let Nikandr bring me to orgasm after orgasm, buried so deep inside me it was impossible to tell where he ended and I began. I’d said it while I'd been on my fucking knees, arched against him in rapture while he fucked me like he knew this would be our last time.
I’d said it in the bathroom while he’d washed my skin so gently it brought back memories that made me cry and I’d fucking whispered it when he'd carried me back to bed and wrapped himself around me like he has no plans of ever letting go, his face buried in my hair and whispered,
“You’re mine, Candy, mine.”
It’s been hours since then but I can still hear my voice saying it quietly, promising something I can’t give.
I can’t be his, it’s fucking impossible. Even if he wants it desperately enough, it’ll be impossible to go around my father and whoever this impossible boss of his is. I’ve never seen the man but his reputation precedes him. All I needed was to see my father acting like a complete fool to know just how dangerous he is.
And the fact the fact that he got someone in here to take those sickening pictures of Adrian and I?
Bile starts to rise in my throat as I imagine anyone taking such pictures of last night, of Nik and I the way we’d been. I’d be sick if I ever have to defend that to my family. Peach would definitely have my head and my dad? I’ll never be able to look him in the eye knowing the betrayal and disgust that’ll be waiting for me in them.
My stomach rumbles, reminding me that I missed dinner for this.
Shit.
I missed my dinner reservation with Adrian.
I feel a pang of guilt seep into my chest knowing exactly why I missed it. I didn’t even have the presence of mind to be to leave a call or text to cancel like any half decent human being would because I’d been consumed by Nikandr.
He makes it impossible for me to think about my responsibilities.
The guilt in my chest grows the more I think about it, the more I wonder if Adrian had came to the door while I’d been over or under Nikandr, the more I wonder how long he waited before he realized I wasn’t coming.
“Stay with me.” Nikandr’s husky voice whines into my hair, sleepy and sated like a child and for some reason he just sounds so stupidly adorable it make me smile despite myself.
He curls me in closer to himself even though I’m already pressed skin to skin with him, basking in his warmth and drowning in that inebriating scent of his. I feel his cock spring to life at the slightest brush of my ass against him as his soft laugh teases my ears.
“Ignore the fucker, he’s just obsessed with you.”
We stay like this for another hour or three, until the sun comes up high in the sky, golden rays of the morning streaming in from the curtains we forgot to close.
I woke up first, crawling out of the bed against his mumbled protests and when he reluctantly offered to come with, I begged him not to.
I need the solitude of the bathroom, to hear myself think because I need to do a lot of that. I need a plan that works, one that keeps me safe too.
If anything is clear to me at this point it’s the fact that I’ll be handing in my two weeks notice as decided as soon as I show up to work. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to look at Adrian without thinking about this entire trip and that’s a rabbit hole I can live without.
And after that, I have to disappear from my current life because there’s no other way this works no matter how much I wish it did..
I’ll keep falling into the temptation that is Nikandr if I stay even remotely close to him, especially with the way he is about this, saying what I want to hear, fanning the burning embers of my hope even when he knows nothing can come of it and eventually we won’t be able to hide what we do to each other behind hostility and terse greetings any more.
I won’t be able to claim objectivity when I repeat what terrible idea he and Peach is because my opinion will be tainted by my craving for the forbidden.
I’ve been saving every cent I can spare since I started this job so I should have enough money to start all over. I can live without crawling to and kissing up to my father and I definitely won’t be living in fear of being pawned of the next time his dirty business starts to sink his life.
I can live without any of that even though the thought of it is rapidly growing this heavy boulder in my chest that is crushing me.
So that’s it, get home, hand in my resignation, move out and start all over. Who knows, I might even apply for a job here. New York is a beautiful place, albeit oversaturated. I can live in its fast pace and maybe that will keep me too busy to reminisce or regret.
Satisfied, I eventually make it out of the bathroom to an empty room which is confusing because Nikandr was just here, sleeping like a baby.
It feels weird but that’s probably just me over thinking things so I just get busy dressing up and packing up my things because work holiday is over and in the next hour or so I’ll be on a plane back to my real life.
When I finish putting on my clothes and fixing my hair, I head over to Adrian room to apologize for last night and ruining plans we had before Nikandr showed up out of the blues to ruin it but for some reason, he doesn’t answer his door or his phone when I blow it up with calls and texts apologizing.
It’s unlike him to be this angry over something like this but I get it. I was a shitty friend last night and I was in his fucking arms the night before that, kissing him.
Nikandr walks in just as I drop my phone, looking like the cat that got all the cream.
“Good morning, Princess.” He hums against my skin as he kisses my forehead and then my lips and though I want to kiss him back like our lives depend on it, there’s something about doing it now that feels so wrong.
He takes the cue, giving my space back and I look at everything else besides him.
“I can’t get hold of Adrian.” I say to fill the silence in the room, ignoring the instant shift in energy I feel radiating off Nikandr at the mention of the name.
“Our flight leaves soon.”
“He left already. You’re with me.”
