I don’t know what turned me on the most; the fact that Ruby was absolutely stunning in that dress or the way she shut down Collin. I couldn’t help but feel proud that she was my mate. Every fiber in my body wanted to put Collin in his place. For one, you don’t put your hands on someone else’s mate, and two, I didn’t like this guy’s attitude towards my mate.
When Collin came up and offered us the best rooms in the house. I stopped and thought, why rooms? Ruby and I never slept apart, we only needed one room. I didn’t like the way he was talking. Ruby turned to me and started talking. My attention went straight to her.
“My love, I’m getting tired. Do you think we can retire to our hotel? I want to be refreshed when I introduce you to my family as my mate.”
She flipped her hair and I watched as Collins’ eyes darted over to my mark that presented itself on Ruby's shoulder. In an instant, Collins’ eyes went from his blueish gray to black in an instant. His claws came out as he lunged himself at Ruby. I quickly pushed Ruby behind me as I grabbed Collin mid-air by the throat. He was spitting nonsense about challenging me and claiming Ruby as his own.
I hear Luna Heather screaming, Alpha Michael is trying to reason with me, giving me excuses that Collin isn’t himself. I let out the biggest growl, scaring not just Heather but Alpha Michael as well. I let him know that his son had overstepped tonight. I return my gaze to Ruby, who is still in shock from the almost attack. Without a second thought, I threw Collin, sending him sliding till he stopped at Alpha Michaels’ feet.
“My mate and I are leaving, we have seen enough hospitality here for one night,” I said as I reached for Rubys’ hand and walked out the door. Just before we left, I stopped at Alpha Joseph and Alpha Skylars’ table before heading out, “We will see you at the council meeting tomorrow.”
Both Alpha’s nod their heads in agreement and Ruby and I head back to our hotel. It doesn't take long before the limo shows up and we enter together. Ruby doesn't say anything as we sit back and wait to pull up to the hotel. I looked at my mate,
“Ruby, are you OK?” She doesn't answer, instead she turns to me, her breathing has quickened as she plants a kiss onto my lips. My eyes widened in surprise as her lips touched mine. I leaned in further and deepened the kiss. We are both lost in the heat of the moment, kissing each other passionately. Her hands move up and gently touch my face, her tongue exploring mine as she moans.

I pull my Mate over to me as she hikes up her dress to straddle me in the back seat of the limo. Once again, my eyes darken as she straddles me, bringing the kiss deeper. “Goodnight, my love. Tomorrow is a bigger day for us.” I said, placing a kiss on her head and falling asleep myself.

“HOW DARE YOU PULL THAT STUNT! WHAT THE HELL IS THE MATTER WITH YOU? DO YOU THINK I LIKE BEGGING FOR YOUR LIFE TO BE SPARED?” I yelled at Collin, as Heather stood there trying to figure out what her mate had just done.
Collin doesn’t move, he doesn’t even blink. I don’t know what my son thought he was doing, but his actions tonight could end this pack.
“Why can’t you just give it up, Collin, she has a mate. She will never be yours.” Heather says through her tears. Collins' head snaps up at the mention of Ruby, he seems to go wild with rage as he tries to get up.
“Where do you think you're going?” I growled.
“To challenge Alpha Karson to a duel and get my mate back.” Collin snaps.
“I’m your mate, Ruby isn’t your fated mate and she never will be. Why can’t you understand that?” Heather snaps.
“You have done enough damage for one night. I won’t be surprised if the council over-throws you; you went after the last known royal, Alpha’s mate. Whether you know her or not, she is marked and mated by another, you need to snap out of this delusion you have of having Ruby .” I snapped at him. Collin sinks back into his seat, muttering to himself that Ruby is his. I was starting to see this wasn't lust, this was possession and nothing was going to stop him.

I can’t remember what all that happened. I remember Ruby declining our best rooms, then she flipped her hair and my eyes were lying on that mark! I heard Chase say something but I had already blacked out and was being held at my throat. What did Chase say to make us lash out?
Her scent…Mine- Chase cried out.
“She’s mine, Ruby is mine. Chase felt something.” I said, looking at my father. Heather slumps down in disagreement.
“That’s not possible. Maybe Chase is confused.” My father says.
I didn’t care what would happen. I was going to bring Ruby home even if I had to kill Karson to get it.
I left and went straight to my office. I had to come up with the perfect plan to get Ruby back, even if that meant kidnapping. I knew she was coming back tomorrow, so I would try to get her alone again and have a simple conversation, get her to trust me.
I stayed up all night putting all the pieces together. I told no one, not even my beta. I knew my plan had to involve no one that I knew and it would go off without a problem, I just needed to set it in motion. I reached for my phone and dialed a number I had for emergencies. I waited for the other end to pick up. I smiled when I heard the voice.
“Mr. Woods, what can I do for you?”
“I want to stage a rogue attack. Do you think you can do that?” I said.
“It will cost you. How much are you willing to pay?” The man on the other end said.
“Name your price!” I said.
A few hours went by and I could hear the sound of our previous guests. My father would tell some story that I was struck with poison containing wolfsbane and a psychotic drug that made me fall crazy at last night's events. It would be the only way to save my sorry ass.

I walked down the stairs, acting gloomy. Some Alphas were asking if I was feeling alright, concerned about me being poisoned last night. I had to pretend I wasn’t and apologize for my actions as I couldn't control myself last night. I had an act for getting what I wanted. No one could tell that I was truly pretending. Chase has to go along with it, staying dormant in the lie of being injected with wolfsbane.
When Ruby and Karson showed up I had to play nice. I put on my best act, I went to walk over to greet them, but my father stepped in my way.
“Stay away from her!” He said in a low voice followed by, “I don’t like having to make-up shit to cover for your sorry ass, so if you start anything this time I won't be there to pick you back up. Do I make myself clear?”
“Don’t worry father,” I said sadistically. “I’ll put on a show you’ve never seen, trust me, you have nothing to worry about this time.”
I looked away from my father and Ruby was in conversation with some council members and Heather. Karson was still by her side. He looked up and saw me and whispered something in her ear before walking over to me.
“I heard you were poisoned and that you weren’t yourself last night. No hard feelings, I hope.” Karson said before extending his hand to me.
Everything in my body wanted to rip this man apart, but I needed to compose myself, so I took his hand in mine. “No hard feelings,” I said.
“Did you find the culprit who happened to poison you?” Karson asked.
“No, we have some idea that it was an omega out for revenge, but we can't be sure.” I said, trying to play nice. We talked for a few minutes before Ruby and Heather walked up to us.
“I do hope you are feeling yourself today.” Ruby said in her most angelic voice.
“Thank you Luna Ruby, I am. Should we all retire to the conference room and start the meeting?”I said. I hated that she was hanging on Karson, knowing that I wanted her for myself. Ruby smiled as she looked at Karson. He must have mind linked something she found amusing.
Heather walked up to me and I pretended to be the doting mate, placing my hand on the small of her back, leading us to the main conference room. We all took our seats and I made my way to the head of the table.
“Hello and thank you for coming. I want to apologize for last night's events.” I paused before continuing “It seems I was attacked without knowing and I was injected with wolfsbane and some sort of psychotic drug. So I apologize if I scared or terrified anyone here.” I said, looking especially at Ruby. She didn’t acknowledge me, which upset me. I needed to stay focused.
Alpha Skylar was the first to stand up and address everyone next.
“Well, thank you Alpha Collin for that information. On behalf of the council, we want to give our condolences for what you went through last night.” He paused before looking away from me. “Alpha Karson has passed on some wonderful information regarding the Royal Household. Now, as many of you know, the last living King of wolves, King Damen, was executed because he was power hungry. We couldn’t find any heirs because we thought they killed them all off.” He paused before looking at Ruby.
“My friends and fellow council members, last night we were introduced to the last living descendant of King Damen… Princess Ruby Hale of Sunset Crest Pack.” Alpha Skylar announced as the council members started to whisper amongst themselves, some cheered and others like myself sat there in complete shock.
I sat there, never taking my eyes off of Ruby. The woman I wanted was the last descendant of the mad King. I looked at my father who had a look on his face like he already knew this. Anger filled me as all this information was being passed along. It only made me want her more. I was going to use this information to my fullest.
