I had just finished giving my pups a bath, when I heard a knock at the door. Looking at my Pruney kids, I made a funny face when asking “Now who could that be?” Alec and Anna immediately started to giggle, as I chased them from the bathroom to their rooms. Once they were dressed, I headed to the front door to see who it was.
I opened the door to find Nate and another man standing there with a box wrapped in a beautiful navy blue bow and an envelope.
“Hello Nate, who is this, and what can I do for you tonight?” I was a bit surprised by his visit.
“I’m here to deliver this, and hoping you accept the invitation, I’m also here to escort you. And this is Beta Luke.”
“Invitation? Nice to meet you, Beta Luke.” I said as I extended my hand to shake his. I moved to open the door, inviting Nate and Luke in. They walked into the dining room table and set the package down and handed me the envelope. I opened the letter and read it carefully.

You are hereby invited to dine with Theo, myself and Alpha Karson.
Dinner will be served at 7pm. Sharp, followed by conversation and coffee

I opened the box to find the most gorgeous dress my eyes had ever seen. It was a beautiful navy blue sleeveless Jordan Ruched side slit gown, with a surplice V-neck, scoop back. I looked up at Nate, who was simply smiling.
“Am I to assume that this is a formal attire dinner?” I questioned.
“Yes” Nate said, but not before adding “My luna.”
“Nate, I haven’t exactly agreed to being a luna right now. But I will get to know Karson before I decide on anything.”
Nate nodded in agreement. “ You had best get ready, you don’t want to be late.”
“What about my children?” I surely didn't want to leave them alone.
“It’s all taken care of. I will be here to watch them, and I assume since it's the weekend you wouldn't mind if I brought a kids' movie and popcorn.” Luke said.
“POPCORN” Alec screamed out excitedly while running out in just his jammie pants.
“MOVIE” Anna screamed out as well.
“I guess that settles that.” I said, giggling. I went to my room and quickly showered. When I got out, I lotioned myself down, I wanted to smell good, I wasn't sure if it was my nerves but i felt excited. I slipped the dress over my body. I was shocked to discover that it was a perfect fit. I curled my hair, and added some light makeup. I looked in the mirror only to have Flora push through.
We look amazing. Our mate won't be able to keep his eyes off of us.
You only care about our mate, but remember what we went through before. I will be cautious this time.
Just get our good looking ass to that dinner. I want to see him drool!
I left my room, walked into the living room to find my pups sitting excitedly in front of the TV. As Luke prepared popcorn, I smiled at the fact that my kids were enjoying themselves. Rini would have loved to watch them but she had been helping at the pack hospital.
“So… how do I look?” I asked shyly.
“Mommy you look so pretty!” Alec and Anna said in sync.
“Alpha Karson isn't going to be able to take his eyes off of you, I hope you know that.” Luke stated.
“Kids, be on your best behavior. Goto bed when Beta Luke tells you to, ok.”
I hugged my pups and placed kisses on their cheeks before following Nate out the door. Once outside, Nate opened the door to the BMW he had been driven the first time we met and insisted we drive. It was only a couple of houses, Nate insisted. Since he didn't want me to get my new dress dirty, I was thankful for that.
We reached the house, Nate stepped out and opened my door, helping me out of the car. I was a bit nervous, but Flora told me everything would be fine. I hoped she was right. Inside the house, I was greeted by Hope, who was wearing a flattering sleeved blush pink A-gown.
“My dear, you look beautiful,” Hope said as she kissed my cheek.
“Thank you for having me. And can I say, wow, your dress is gorgeous.”
Hope and I stood there for a moment exchanging pleasantries when we heard a bell.
“Ah, dinner is ready. Come my dear, you're gonna love what I have prepared. Smoked salmon, garlic herb chicken, creamy mashed potatoes, asparagus, and dinner rolls. Don’t get me started on dessert!” Hope said cheerfully as I giggled. As we enter the dining room immediately, I see Theo and Karson engaged in conversation with a woman I’ve never met before. She’s thin with reddish hair and blue eyes. She was wearing a tight fitted black dress with too much cleavage showing for my taste. I walked side by side with Hope and made my way to Karson.
Who the hell is this bitch next to Karson?
Do I sense some jealousy coming from you? Flora scuffed
No! I’m just… I don’t know…maybe
It’s OK to feel that way, he is our mate after all.
“Hello Alpha Karson,” I said.
“Ruby, you don’t have to call me Alpha, it's Karson to you. You are the future Luna.” Karson replied while reaching for my hand to kiss. I blushed at his sudden kindness, feeling flushed and hot all of a sudden.
“So you must be the fated…mate” The woman smirked with her arm gently lying on Karson’s shoulder. “I’m Olivia, Karson’s childhood friend.” Olivia extended her hand, expecting me to take it. I simply smiled and replied “It’s nice to meet you, and if you don't mind. Could you please remove your arm from my mate.” I sneered through clenched teeth. Karson looked overjoyed to hear me say ‘my mate’. Olivia removed her arm and stepped back. I could tell she was irritated and that made me feel so good.
That’s my girl, our mate looks so pleased. You're acting like a true Luna. Flora wagged her tail happily at my actions.
I couldn't help myself either. I have to admit I actually felt good, the look on her face was priceless.
“You look absolutely beautiful tonight.” Karson said as he whispered in my ear. Karson pulled out the chair and gestured for me to have a seat. The evening went well, everyone was all in conversation, and I noticed that Olivia had a scowling look on her face every time I caught her looking at my mate.
“Ruby, what are your plans for next weekend?” Karson asked.
“Besides taking care of my pups. Nothing.” I replied.
“Karson, you didn't tell me your mate has pups.” Olivia said, shoving her nose at a conversation she didn't belong in. “ Who’s the father?” She asked with an attitude. That struck a nerve and she clearly intended that too.
“Yes, I have pups. And their father is none of YOUR concern.” I snapped back.
“Olivia, you are overstepping your bounds.” Karson growled using his alpha tone, causing Olivia to whimper. When the night ended, Karson decided he would take me home. We chatted a bit. I felt so easy and so calm around him.

Flora, don’t start.
“Talking with your wolf? What’s she saying?” Karson asked, bringing me back to myself. I blushed as I blurted out “She told me to kiss you.”
Oh my goddess! I didn't just say that!
Oh yes you did! Flora says, wagging her perfect tail.
“Come with me to the alpha fundraiser, not as my date but as my Luna. I won't force you to do anything, and I’m not gonna lie when I say I feel really attracted to you.” Karson says
One second I was thinking about what he’s asking. The next Flora is pushing her way through and kissing Karson with full force, and takes us both by surprise. The heat coming off of the kiss sends my body into full on heat mode.
So this is what it feels like when you have a mate. I can't seem to control myself.

Karson breaks the kiss before we end up doing anything further, and yet my body wants more. I take a breath before entering my home.
“Would you care to come in, at least collect your beta.” I laughed.
“Yes my luna.” Karson responded. It wouldn’t be too bad to be his luna. I would definitely think it over.
“Before I accept your invitation to the fundraiser, let's get to know each other more. Take me on a date.”
“Ok. A date sounds perfect.” Karson said happily.
I opened my front door to see my kids passed out on the floor and beta Luke sleeping on the sofa. It was so cute, my kids took a liking to everyone here and it melted my heart. Karson woke Luke and both men walked to the car. Karson gave me one last kiss before he left. I went back inside, decided not to move my kids, in fear I might wake them, got into more comfortable clothes and headed to bed with a smile on my face.
I told you our mate wouldn't hurt us.

After tonight's events, I felt more drained than ever, but the smile I held on my face said everything was going to be alright.
