Chapter 62
*****Saul's POV*****
"STAY HIDDEN!" I demand through mind-link, as our army remain behind the surrounding tree line awaiting for the trucks to pass by on the road.
I was nervous for the mission sure, since I had never thought of myself as an Alpha until now. Not to mention leading many loyal wolves into one of the biggest rescue missions to date was nerve racking alone... but someone had to step up and do it... and I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy the thrill.
We wait in silence, many of us stretched out and hidden across the length of the road. We were mostly confident with the fact that we had the element of surprise in our hands - not to mention our strength in numbers...
But along with that, we had the fear of the unknown... many here were wanting to rescue their own children that they had lost many years ago. We were unsure of what state we would even find them in after so long... and that thought alone was terrifying.
My own little brother... I've longed to save him for years... he would be so proud knowing his own big brother was now the Alpha of his pack! I couldn't wait to tell him!
Just with that thought, the approaching sound of vehicles rumbled in the distance causing complete and utter silence amongst our army.
We were ready...
A quarter of us were instructed to kill... whilst the other three quarters were instructed to rescue and get the children to safety.
"HOLD POSITION!" I instruct to everyone through the link confidently, as we watch the trucks eventually pull into view.
"Ok now rip their fucking tyres!" I roar after a moment through the link, as they pull into the perfect position where we had them surrounded!
I watch the spike strips roll out onto the road, each one tossed perfectly under all twelve of the large trucks - bursting the back tyres and causing them to halt.
The men instantly exit the vehicles, some appearing from the doors in the back whilst the rest exit from the front seats.
I give them a moment to panic, as they call to one another and take in their trapped situation.
"ATTACK!" I scream aloud, as they all jump from the intrusion as our numbers charge out from the tree line shifting into their wolves - hungry for blood.
Whilst the bastards are distracted, the rest charge towards the trucks - climbing on board before grabbing and carrying the screaming children out to safety.
I take a moment to study the situation, seeing we had them greatly outnumbered since Axel didn't want to take any chances. I watched our men carry the children out of sight - seeing that some were only toddlers which turned my stomach.
I decided to finally join the fight, eager for the taste of blood after being fuelled with more hatred. There were plenty others efficiently removing the children and I knew they would be leading them to our safety point for food, water and doctors so I was confident that they didn’t need me to help.
"Situation is fully under control sir... I can confirm that we are taking all of the children back to our care effortlessly!" I send a quick message to Axel, before dragging a whimpering man out from under one of the trucks seeing his pathetic attempt at hiding.
I waste no time in snapping his neck in my human form, before shifting into my wolf and helping to finish them off.
There will be none of these fuckers left on my watch...
*****Dani's POV*****
"P-Please... you don't have to send me there!" I plead, as the horrifying man stares blankly into my eyes as Cassio and Hal remove me from the chair I had been attached to.
"Now now pet... the journey back will be quick and painless... Draco will take good care of you and besides you’ve already done it once before when that other demon brought you here!" Cassio smiles at me, as I fight against their vice like holds.
They drag me towards the door before suddenly shoving me into Dracos arms as I release a squeal - him catching and holding me tightly.
I continued to squirm, knowing deep down that it was useless, before I even screamed out for Axel - hoping that by some small chance he would come and save me in this moment…
"Now Draco just get rid of her... she’s being fucking annoying at this point! Knowing that she's the only thing that my brother seems to love in life is making me feel utterly sick!" Cassio spits out the words like venom, waving his hand as I scream and panic knowing all too well where the man was about to take me.
“P-Please…” I beg one last time…
But before I had another second to bargain, Draco grabbed my hand - crushing it - before everything went black...
*****Saul’s POV*****
“Is there any left?” I ask out loud as soon as I shift back, as the others follow my lead.
I study our blood soaked surroundings, allowing a silence to fall among us briefly - as we all listen for any further sign of movement. I wanted to make sure none of them had tried to run or hide. They were all to die!
“All clear I think Alpha!” One of the men state, causing a sudden overwhelming feeling to rip through my body.
Alpha…
“You done good Alpha… your timing for the attack was outstanding!” Another man adds, patting me on the back in praise as I smile fondly at them.
In this moment I knew, I was doing the right thing. I was the only man destined to run this pack. The only man who would make us strong once again!
“You done good boys! Let’s do a last sweep of the area before meeting the others at the safety camp! I can promise you all that your efforts will be greatly rewarded for this!” I speak directly, as they all clap and cheer before following my orders.
None of our men had died, a couple of scratches at most, but we did it! It had gone as smooth as it possibly could have!
I just hoped deep down that amongst the rescues… Erik was still there.
