Chapter 91: Games People Play
Linda was still reeling from anger and the embarrassment she faced in the parking lot.
She had told Golden confidently in the restroom that Allan would never go for someone like her.
Seeing Golden on Allan's bike, holding onto his waist was a resounding slap to her face.
Golden's sneer and mocking smile was another slap in itself.
Linda entered her room and angrily slammed her door, shaking it from the hinges.
She threw her bag on her bed and brought out her phone to text Fab.
Linda: “What's up with you and your girlfriend? Are you aware she's flirting with other guys?”
She waited anxiously for Fab to respond, pacing about her room till her phone vibrated with an incoming message.
Fab: “Hello to you too Linda. What has got you more antsy than usual?”
Linda: “Answer the question nerd!”
Linda wasn't in the mood to banter with Fab and wished he would be serious.
Fab: “What's the question again? Sorry I was a bit distracted.”
Linda rolled her eyes and typed.
Linda: “Are you aware that your girlfriend is flirting with other guys?”
Fab: “And you know this how? If you have something to say, come out straight and say it.”
Linda: “I saw Golden riding off with Allan on his bike. She held on to his waist smiling.”
Fab: “And? Come on Linda, you can do better than that.”
Fab: “So you saw Golden riding with Allan, holding his waist smiling. Where was she supposed to be holding? And was she supposed to be frowning?”
Fab: “And that scene alone made you conclude that she was flirting with him? Come on now Linda, you are smarter than that.
Fab: “You said she is flirting with guys. Apart from Allan, which other guy did she flirt with?”
Linda was so angry that she threw her phone on her bed. What was wrong with Fab?
Shouldn't he be angry that Golden was with Allan?
Nothing was making sense anymore and Linda hated not being in control.
Fab chuckled as he waited for Linda to text back. He had boxed her into the corner.
She was the one that started the rumor that he and Golden were dating to get at Golden but it didn't workout the way she wanted it.
She thought saying that they were dating would make Allan despise Golden, but her plan backfired and instead pushed Allan into Golden's arms.
Now she was texting him to inform him that his girlfriend was flirting with another guy.
He felt sorry for her though. Nothing had gone her way in a while and it must be frustrating for her.
Fab went back to his game. He was pretty sure that Linda wouldn't text him back.
Linda wasn't ready to give up. She didn't get the reaction she wanted out of Fab and it was so frustrating.
Even though she had seen Golden and Allan with her own eyes, she still believed that there was nothing going on between them.
Allan wouldn't possibly want Golden. They probably were just going to hang out.
Golden just said that to get a rise out of her. No guy in his perfect senses would choose Fat Golden over her.
She gave herself a pep talk to boost her confidence. She had given Golden too much power and overrated her.
She just had to device a means to expose Golden and embarrass her in front of everyone.
Allan didn't like to be out on the spot and she was going to use it to her advantage.
Their Medical Students' Week was coming up in about a weeks time and it was always packed full with activities.
The dinner night was always the highlight of the event. They always liked to play truth or dare during the games section.
In previous years, Linda had always used the night as an opportunity to embarrass Golden until she stopped attending.
People also used that night to fulfill their fantasies and Linda was going to use it to kill two birds.
Meanwhile...
Allan and Golden decided to go see a movie. They got to the cinema and entered holding hands.
Golden smiled when she saw their intertwined hands. She was blushing so hard that the lady at the counter couldn't help but comment.
“You guys are so cute together. Would you be interested in playing a couples game while you wait for your movie?”
“Sure, what kind of game?” Allan asked.
“Well it's nothing serious. You just have to shoot some hoops successfully and then knock down some parrots.
You then get a chance to pick out any stuffed animal from that vending machine over there.” She said pointing at the machine.
Allan decided to give it a try and Golden stood to the corner smiling and feeling warm in her heart.
He took off his hoodie and handed it over to Golden. He was wearing a black tank top that hugged his body.
The ladies around stared, pointed and whispered to themselves. This gave Golden a sense of pride.
He tied his dreads up in a man-bun and began shooting the hoops. And soon the machine beeped signaling a perfect score.
Next he moved to the parrot game. The parrots were not static, they moved about saying: “you can't get me”.
Golden watched Allan focus and hit the first moving target. After hitting one parrot, the speed increased and the parrots moved faster.
The more target you hit, the faster the speed of the parrot. There were six parrots in all and Allan managed to hit all without missing.
People had slowly gathered to watch the performance. The movie was going to start in about 20 minutes so they had enough time to spare.
Ladies whispered how cool he was and wished he was their boyfriend instead.
He finally got to the animal vending machine. He was supposed to work the claw to pick up an animal and successfully drop it in the box.
Unlike the first two games, this was harder than it looked. Allan didn't manage to get any animal on his first try, but by the fourth try he finally got one.
He caught a gold panda and handed it over to a smiling Golden.
“Here I got you something” he said.
“Uhh you got me a gold panda, I will name it Goldie,” she said smiling.
It was almost time to go into the theater. Golden and Allan stood on the queue, popcorn and soda in their hands, waiting to go in.
Golden felt someone staring at her and looked back. She caught the silhouette of a lady leaving.
She looked like the lady she had seen at the parking lot earlier but she wasn't sure.
She was probably overthinking so she dismissed it and entered into the theater.
