Chapter 86: The Heart Wants What The Heart Wants
Varney had always been supportive of Golden. He often indulged her and gave her whatever she wanted.
He was angry that Golden kept setting herself up for heartbreak.
Allan wasn't a bad guy, but Varney felt he wasn't good for Golden. She loved him too much, more than he loved her.
He had hurt her one time too many whether intentionally or not. And Varney only restrained himself from hurting him because of Golden and Florence.
Alex walked into the mansion and when she didn't see Varney in the living room, she went up to his room.
“Are you okay V?” Alex asked.
Varney was seated at his desk typing away on his laptop.
He was still angry and tried to use work to cover up the anger.
Alex walked up to Varney and turned his chair to face her, halting what he was doing.
She squatted in front of him and held onto his hands. His eyes were closed and he tried to put his emotions in check.
“V?” Alex said in a light tone. “Why are you so angry? I've never seen you lose your cool since I met you. Tell me, what's really going on.”
Varney stood up and went to sit on the couch. Alex was right next to him, holding his hand and rubbing it to calm him down.
“Why must it be him Alex?” Varney asked, finally letting his anger go. He sounded exhausted and somewhat broken.
“I can't bear to see him hurt her again. The first time he stood her up, she almost got herself killed.
You know what happened in Africa. Babe, she's the only family I've got left. I will be tempted to kill him if he hurts her again.”
“She isn't the the only family you've got anymore. You have me now Varney.
You know I will kill him before I let him hurt her” Alex continued seriously. “But the heart wants what the hearts wants V.
We can't control how the heart feels. All we can do is be there for her. No matter how many times she gets her heart broken, we would be there to help her go through the pain.
What Gigi needs now is our support. She needs to know that her big bro has got her back no matter what.”
Alex reached for Varney and hugged him. “You need to go back down and speak to Gigi. She needs to know that she can count on you.”
Varney hugged Alex tight, he breathed in her lavender and peaches scent and let it cool his nerves.
“Thank you so much honey. What would I do without you?”
“Nothing.” Alex said giggling. “Now let's go back to the poolside big guy.
Fab watched Varney storm off, and Alex go after him. He understood why Varney was angry and hoped Alex would calm him down.
He got up and went to sit beside Golden. “Are you okay girl?” He asked in a mild tone.
“I'm fine.” She sighed. “Fab do you also feel it's foolish of me to date Allan?” She asked touching her bff necklace.
“Oh sweetheart listen here. No one thinks you are foolish for wanting to date Allan, not even Varney.
We just sincerely care for you and don't want to see you get hurt that's all.
Maybe Allan isn't our favorite person at the moment but it's your happiness that matters to us.
And if you say your happiness is with him, then we are going to suck it up and love him too.
And if he dares to break your heart again, we would help you pick up the pieces and use our love to mend it.
Then we go after his sorry ass and make him pay for breaking your precious heart.”
Just then, Varney walked up to Golden, he had been there long enough to hear their whole conversation.
“Are you sure you can't love this dude instead?” He asked gesturing at Fab.
“Honestly I don't mind him for a brother-in-law.”
Alex jabbed him to get him to be serious.
“Thanks for offer but I'll pass.” Fab said with a confident smile.
Varney and Alex turned to him with a questioning look. They would address that later.
“Princess I'm sorry for my harsh tone and for practically storming out of here.
Like Fab said, I've got your back and would stand by whatever decision you make, whether or not I like it.”
Golden immediately hugged him. “Thank you”, she said into his chest finally releasing a sigh of relief.
She broke off the hug and said to everyone, “No one is allowed to manhandle Allan even if we break up.”
“Just forget it Gigi. That's the biggest compromise we can make.” Alex said shaking her head.
Golden looked at everyone and they were in agreement. “Fine. You guys win.” Golden hoped for Allan's sake they don't break up.
Varney cleared his throat and looked at Fab. “What did you mean by no thanks I'll pass?”
“Is Gigi not your type?” Alex asked with a smirk.
“You guys chill out okay, leave Fab alone.” Golden quickly interjected. She understood what Fab meant.
He was interested in a certain someone, and it wasn't her and she was fine with it.
“Cut it out guys. Golden is an amazing woman and any guy would be lucky to have her, and that includes me.
It's just that I like someone else. And I'm also planning to ask her out officially.
I didn't think she felt the saw way, but thanks to Gigi, I think she does.
So now that Gigi is following her heart, I think I will do the same too. I was waiting for her to make up her mind first since we are supposed to be in a relationship.” Fab said with an air quote.
“I didn't want people thinking I was cheating on my girlfriend with another girl.
I will never put Gigi in the eye of the storm like that. But now that she's about to start dating Allan, I guess it's okay.”
“So what if Gigi hadn't decided to date Allan, what would you have done?” Varney asked.
“Well I guess I would have explained it to Bri and asked her to play along. Besides she's far away in Canada so it wouldn't matter.” Fab responded casually.
Varney nodded approvingly at Fab. “Whenever she's in town, I would like to host you both. She bagged a good guy.”
“Uhhh! This is the most beautiful breakup I've ever witnessed.” Alex said dramatically. “If she ever breaks your heart, remember I know a guy...”
