Chapter 80: How Far Can You Go To Get What You Want?
Ocean-City University Med School Final Semester...
The Christmas holiday had been pretty amazing with a lot of highs and lows and the students were pumped up to begin their final semester.
Students moved in groups and were sitted in small clusters catching up and discussing about the Christmas holiday.
Some were showing off gifts they had received for Christmas. And some were talking about the places they visited.
It was a harmonious atmosphere and the medical students slowly moved to their lecture hall.
Allan walked into the hall, his backpack perched on one shoulder, his headset sitting pretty on his neck.
He scanned the hall discreetly and proceeded to take a seat. He stopped at Golden's table, smiled and called out a greeting.
“Hi Gigi.
Alex, Fab, hello.”
Alex was a bit surprised that Allan actually acknowledged them. Fab chuckled softly and shook his head.
He knew what Allan was up to and wanted to see how far he was willing to go to get it.
He would step aside if Allan was truly serious about being with Golden and maybe even help him try to win her over.
Still, he would make him work for it. Fab put his hands over Golden's shoulder, as if asserting dominance.
Allan was sitting two seats behind them on the other side and when he saw Fab put his hands over Golden's shoulder, he smirked.
He immediately took out his phone and sent Golden a message.
Allan: “You look stunning today. I like what you've done with your hair.”
Golden had straightened out her hair and it gave her a different look. She was used to wearing her hair in a loose wave which she normally parted to the side.
She had decided to switch things up and straighten her hair and part it at the center.
Alex who was with Golden's phone suddenly felt it vibrate with an incoming message.
She initially wanted to hand over the phone to Golden, but paused when she realized the message was from Allan.
She stylishly opened the message to be sure it wasn't anything upsetting.
With what happened in the past, Alex had learned to be discreet. If the message was annoying, she would quietly delete it and block him again.
Alex smiled after seeing that the message was harmless and handed the phone over to Golden.
“You have a message from Allan. Seems like he is really serious this time.”
Golden collected the phone, read the message and turned to look at Allan who pulled up a half smile and went back to doing his thing.
Fab collected the phone and read the message too and laughed.
“It looks like Allan 2.0 is really serious. He even noticed your hair.
Aren't you going to reply Gigi? He even said you look stunning” Fab teased Golden.
“Nope! Since he wants me, then let him do what it takes to get me. A hello and a text isn't going to make me fall into his arms.”
“Nice one girl!” Alex said with a hint of pride. “Allan 2.0 has just activated Golden 3.0 and I'm all for it.”
Classes were long and very draining. The students who had come pumped and excited this morning, now moved around like zombies, tired and drained.
They had a 30 minutes break before they were expected back in class for another round of classes.
It was their last semester as preclinical students. In about three months, they would start full on clinical rotation and that would mean hospital rounds and shifts.
For Golden, Alex, and Fab, it was nothing new because they had done clinicals in Africa.
It was stressful and demanding, but they had enjoyed every moment of it.
They had just gotten to the cafeteria and Fab volunteered to get their meals while the ladies went to their table.
They had just sat down when Allan approached their table.
Alex noticed Allan approaching first and signaled Golden.
“Incoming. Gigi, 3 o'clock.”
Golden stylishly looked over and saw Allan truly approaching.
“What does he want now? Golden asked surprised.
“We are about to find out”. Alex responded as Allan reach their table.
“Are you lost Allan? Your table is right over there” Alex said raising this head towards the direction of the platform.
“Hi Alex.” Allan said not missing the sarcasm in Alex's words. Then turning to Golden, he asked “can I sit?”
“Why? This is the losers corner. You don't usually sit here”. Golden said crossing her hands over her chest.
Before Allan could respond, Fab approached the table and saw Allan standing.
He sat down and handed over the meals to the ladies.
“What's going on? Why is he here?” Fab asked, taking a bit from one of his fries.
“Hello Fab, do you mind if I join you guys at your table for lunch?” Allan asked, maintaining his cool.
He expected coldness and cruelty from Alex. Fab on the other other hand seemed cool so he also played it cool.
“I think you are at the wrong table dude, but sure you can join us. I will go brag us some water?”
Allan sat slouched, like a king casually sitting on his throne. He sat like he normally did at the platform.
There was an awkward silence at first, but soon the girls let up and began to gist as they ate their meal.
Fab soon returned with their water and the three had a harmonious meal, treating Allan like air.
Allan, bored took a napkin and began sketching on it. He didn't even know why he was at their table.
Lunch on the platform wasn't exactly exciting either but at least there, people didn't ignore him.
He stole occasional glances at Golden and saw her genuinely smiling as she talked with her friends and he wished that she could smile for him too.
Lunch soon ended and they made to leave and return for their final lectures of the day.
“Wait up Gigi. Can I have a word with you?” Allan gently held Golden's hand as she got up to leave.
Golden was quite shocked and raised a brow, wondering what Allan was up to.
“I don't appreciate another guy holding my girlfriend's hand like that in public” Fab said, trying to get Allan to release Golden.
“It's okay babe. Let me speak to him briefly. You guys can head on out and save me a seat.” Golden said, giving Fab a warm smile.
Fab released his hold on Allan's hand and kissed Golden on her forehead before heading out with Alex.
“Don't be long.” he said.
