Chapter 147: A Clear Perspective
Fab didn't try to convince Golden otherwise. She looked determined and sure and he was happy that she was making a decision that benefited her.
He had been there for all her heartbreaks and traumas and he was glad that she had grown into a confident young woman capable of putting herself first.
“If it's okay, can you not tell Alex and Varney about what happened? I'm sure those two would actually kill Allan if they know.” Golden said with a warm smile.
She didn't want to keep this away from them, she just didn't want them flipping out. She would tell them at her own time, when she was sure they wouldn't have wild thoughts about what to do to Allan.
“Sure Honey. Linda was wise to have texted me instead. I must say, those two are a match made in heaven. It is scary that they actually think the same way.
Whenever you are ready, you can let them know. And I advise that you do it when they are in London for a visit. That way, Allan would be far away to receive the brunt of their anger.” Fab said.
Lindsay kept trying to reach Allan but his number was unavailable. The call had connected initially, but for some strange reason it became unavailable.
They had finally begun to move their relationship forward. There was an obvious chemistry between them and they couldn't help themselves during the party.
Lindsay thought back to what they had done and couldn't help the smile creeping up on her face.
Maybe he was busy and couldn't take her calls, or his phone battery died. She would try again tomorrow.
Allan sat for a long time in the same spot after Golden had left. He was lost and confused about what had just happened.
He did not envisage that things would end between Golden and him just like that. And he felt in sharp pain in his heart.
Truly, he didn't think he would completely lose her one day. He always felt that no matter what happened, she would always be in his corner.
Now he wasn't even sure if he had the right to be her friend. It was scary because Golden had been calm all through the process.
She was too calm for comfort, like she wasn't affected one but by the decision. For someone who has been in love with him for the longest time, Allan felt that ending the relationship was too abrupt.
What he failed to realize was that a person can be deeply in love for a long time but for that love to survive for long, it had to be nourished constantly.
Allan had time again poked at that love whether intentionally or not. And the last time Golden had told him she loved him, but she loved herself more, he should have known at that point that one more poke, and the love would shatter beyond repair.
The saying that “you do not know the value of what you have until you lose it” rang true at that moment.
It was like scales fell from Allan's eyes and he could finally see clearly that he had always loved Golden.
Suddenly, he wasn't thinking about what his friends would say or think about them being in a relationship. In fact he didn't care.
He began to wonder why he never informed Tavia and Rema that they were in a relationship. The last time, Rema had warned him that he would regret it if he lost Golden.
And like a prophecy, it had come true. He was in deep regret and the worst part of it was he had no idea how to fix it.
Fab and Golden drove back to Chinatown. Golden had already called the driver to come get her car and take it back home.
When they got into the house, they met Varney trying to feed Chloe who was more interested in playing with his beard that eating her food.
“Princess please eat and uncle V would give you a horsey ride once you are done.” Varney said trying to bribe Chloe.
“Horsey? Okay!” Chloe said in her cute tiny voice and opened her mouth to eat her food.
“Hey Gigi, how was the party?” Alex asked when she noticed Golden.
“It was cool. The kids really had fun. Allan outdid himself with the party.” Golden said naturally.
“Dude have you sorted out your emergency?” Varney asked Fab who had gone to rescue Leo from Alex's hands.
“Yeah. I have. Alex he's still a baby, you need to learn to speak his language.” Fab said to Alex who had Leo in a child leash.
“He's all yours man. I feel like I have aged 10 years and I don't even have kids yet.” Alex said, going to the kitchen to get something to drink.
By the time Chen, Rosa, and Nana Chen returned home, the kids had already been put to bed.
They thanked Alex and her squad for holding down the fort for them. They looked well rested and asked how their day with the kids had gone.
They finally left. Alex slept off on the way to the estate. She was visibly exhausted, so Golden decided to keep Varney company while he drove.
“You will make a good dad V. I saw the way you effortlessly handled Chloe.” Golden said to Varney and that earned her a smile.
“V? I'm going back to England tomorrow. I've booked my flight already and it leaves at noon.” Golden said softly.
Varney was silent for a few seconds. Something must have happened for Golden to have made such decision.
“Okay? But tell me something, did anything happen between you and Allan? You seemed very enthusiastic to come home and you've been here barely a night and you want to go back already.” Varney asked calm but concerned.
“Well, let's just say that I'm done with what I came home for. The truth is, I broke up with Allan tonight, but that's not why I am going back.
I'm not running away V, I just have a clearer vision of what I want.” Golden said with a smile that touched her eyes. She was truly content.
