Chapter 145 Let’s break up
Chapter 145: Let's Break Up
The party had finally ended. It was 8 pm and the last party guest had just left.
Allan was cleaning up when Rema came out to join him.
“I didn't know when Gigi left. Did you see her off?” Rema asked.
Allan paused when he heard Rema. “What did you just say?”
“Didn't you see her? She got us really cool gifts and came into the house to see you.
I thought you guys were together all this while.” Octavia said.
“She came into the house? When was this?” Allan asked, fear beginning to creep in.
When did she come into town? They had chatted a few days ago and she had sent him money for the party.
He had wanted to reject the money but he knew she was giving the money out of love.
Why had she come but didn't say hello to him? As if struck by a lightning, Allan realized a possibility.
“Fu!” he grunted.
“Are you okay? Is there a problem?” Rema asked concerned. “It's really strange you didn't see her. I told her to check for you in your room.”
Allan felt cold sweat run down his back. Rema had just confirmed his fear. Golden had definitely seen him and Lindsay together.
There was no explaining this away. Even if his whole body was covered in mouths, he still wouldn't be able to explain himself.
Allan went back to his room and decided to text Golden.
Allan: “Hey Gigi, can we talk?”
Golden: “Sure. I'm at the mall. Meet me at the ice cream parlor.”
There was no need beating around the bush and pretending that all was well.
Golden figured that the twins would have told Allan that she came around. And Allan would connect the dots.
Although she would rather not see his face. She wondered how he would try to explain things this time.
Still, she felt it was about time to end things once and for all. She had come to understand that the heart would always want what the heart wants.
And Allan's heart had definitely picked sides. She told Fab that Allan was coming and asked him not to get involved.
She didn't want an external influence for what she was about to do.
So many thoughts ran through Allan's mind as he powered through the night.
He had managed to hurt Gigi again and again without meaning to. And the last time he had promised he wouldn't hurt her again.
Somehow he did hurt her yet again. Did she actually see them in the act, and what was she thinking when she saw them?
Why didn't she make a sound when she saw them, at least that would have stopped them in time.
Even if she did make a sound, would it have made any difference? What would he have done?
Would he have pushed Lindsay away and ran after Gigi? If he did, wouldn't he be hurting two people?
At least right now, he only had to deal with Gigi. He would apologize for hurting her and try to get her to forgive him.
Allan got to the mall and saw Golden sitting outside the ice cream parlor, eating her favorite ice cream.
Allan took a deep breath and approached Gigi steadily. He sat down beside her and thought of what to say.
“Hi Gigi, when did you come into town? You didn't tell me you were coming to town.” Allan said, his voice shaking.
Golden raised her head and gave Allan a smile. “I came in yesterday and I was planning to surprise you today, but I guess I ended up being surprised instead.”
Golden's smile was unsettling and it caused his heart to twist. It would have been better if she was mad. Her calmness was like a spear piercing his heart.
“Tell me something Allan, how long has this been going on?” Golden asked still calm.
She hoped that he would at least be honest with her.
“What do you mean, I don't understand Gigi?” Allan said.
“How long have you been involved with Lindsay? Look, the least you owe me is honesty.
Don't patronize me Allan. I did see you guys together today. What I want to know is how long that has been going on.
You did the act, be bold enough to claim it and accept responsibility. So how long Allan?” Golden said, her voice void of emotions.
“I'm sorry Golden. I didn't mean to hurt you, please forgive me.” Allan begged.
“I'm sorry too Allan. You know what, it's fine. You don't have to answer my question. It wouldn't change anything anyways.” Golden dropped her spoon and looked into Alan's eyes.
“Let's break up Allan. I'm tired and don't think I can do this anymore.
Allan felt his breath seize. He expected anything, but what he didn't see coming was a breakup.
“What did you just say Gigi?”
“Let's break up.” she said again and continued. “It shouldn't be difficult to do right? You never claimed me publicly so it wouldn't make a difference.
We wouldn't have to go through the awkward phase of how our friends would have to act around us.
Octavia and Rema wouldn't also be caught in the awkwardness because they never knew either.”
Allan felt colder the more Gigi spoke. It was like she had made up her mind and made a decision for the both of them.
What if he didn't want to break up? She seemed to have it all figured out, like she had been planning it for a while now.
“Next week, I would go back to Northbridge and you would remain in Florida. The space would help us heal faster.”
“I only wish you were man enough to tell me. Remember, I told you that if you eventually found someone you love, you tell me as soon as possible.
But what did you do? You cheated on me repeatedly until I found out myself.”
“Okay Gigi that's enough!” Allan said, his voice an octave lower. “I admit that I did something really stupid.
Okay I will admit, I am in love with Lindsay. I fell in love with her the first day I saw her, but I didn't think I was good enough for her.
Then she started dating my friend Trey so I let go of the feelings I had for her. Then you came along and you were very amazing.
I began to really like you when I got to know you. Maybe I was even in love with you, but I didn't want to accept what I really felt.
I didn't want my friends judging you before they got to know you that's why I didn't introduce you to them.
I was protecting you.”
