Chapter 142 And she was surprised
Chapter 142: And She Was Surprised
“This is the best birthday ever. First a surprise party, and now a surprised visit from one of my favorite people.
Can this birthday get any better?” Octavia said very happy.
“Well I have a gift for you, I hope you like it. Actually, I have a gift for the both of you.” Golden said and handed over her gifts to them.
Octavia excitedly reached into her gift bag and pulled out something from a soft tissue.
It was a burgundy leather jacket with her name customized in silver at the back. Her eyes lit up like a bulb when she saw the jacket.
She reached in again and brought out a small jewelry box. When she opened it, she saw a diamond necklace with an O pendant and small matching O earrings.
Not minding her makeup anymore, she let the tears fall. “Thank you so much Gigi, I love my gifts.”
Golden patted her back to calm her down. “Hey big girls don't cry. I'm glad you love them.”
Rema opened his gift next. Golden had asked Varney to prepare his gift. Since Rema liked video games and was into tech, she handed over the gifting to Varney.
Rema opened his gift box to see a prototype NeuralSync Gaming Headset. It was a model yet to be released and was customized specially for him.
Rema was speechless. This was the most expensive gift he had ever received. He felt emotional because this particular gift was exclusively his.
He couldn't wait to explore everything in the box. He immediately hugged Golden. “Thank you Gigi, this is a very thoughtful gift” he said with a choked voice.
“Well that's not all.” Golden said, reaching into her purse to bring out something.
“Wait, there is more?” Octavia said and Rema looked on shocked.
Golden pulled out two black cards that had their names written in gold. “This is a gift card, they each have a ten-thousand-dollars limit and you can use it to shop for anything you want, anywhere.
Like I said, you only turn 15 once. Happy birthday guys.” She said and handed them their cards.
After receiving so many thank you and I love you from Octavia and Rema, Golden left them to go find Allan.
Rema said he was in the house, and the last time he went into the house, he saw Allan in his room.
They went to their friends to show off their gifts while Golden entered the house through the kitchen door.
The house was a bit quiet and there were just a few people inside the house.
She saw a few adults about her age in the kitchen and living room and she figured they were Allan's friends who had helped with the party set up. Or even some of the siblings for the kids out back.
She made her way quietly to the hallway leading to the bedrooms. She had been there before so she knew her way around the house.
She figured that Allan was either resting, or drawing. As she approached his room, she noticed it was slightly ajar and there was soft music coming from inside the room.
She wanted to knock, but decided against it. It would ruin the surprise so she gently pushed open the door.
The music was a bit louder with the door opened. However, Golden stood frozen for a moment. Then she slowly backed away and left the house through the front door.
She didn't know how she managed to get out of the house. Her brain was frozen and like a zombie, she went straight to her car and drove off.
She didn't know where to go, so she decided to go to the beach. She parked her car, removed her sandals and walked barefoot to one of the huts on the beach.
Until that moment, her head couldn't process what she had just seen. Like a robot who's program is overriding, Golden tried to understand what her eyes saw, and what her brain was interpreting it to be.
In the midst of her confusion, she heard someone call her name, and she mechanically turned to see who it was.
“Nixon? What are you doing in Florida? I thought I saw someone like you pass by but I wasn't sure?” Linda said as she sat down, surprised to see Golden.
She noticed something was wrong, Golden looked like she was miles away even though she was seated right there.
“Golden, is everything okay? You seem lost.” Linda asked, gently tapping her to bring her back.
“He...
Her...
Chair...
Make...” Golden said a series of words that didn't make any sense.
“He who? Her who? What chair? Making what? Nixon you need to speak in clear terms. I don't understand what you are saying.
Who did you see and what were they making? You aren't making any sense Nixon.” Linda said trying to dicipher what Golden was saying.
She had been away for two years, she showed up on the beach and started to say jargon.
Golden tried hard to focus. She was drifting and her mind was shutting down.
She heard someone talking to her, asking her questions but she didn't really know who it was.
She closed her eyes, steadied her breathing and tried to bring herself back to the present.
She opened her eyes and saw a worried Linda looking at her.
“Wait, this image isn't right. Why is Linda here, and why does it seem she is worried about me?” She thought to herself.
She closed her eyes again and thought: “Linda is good now. We are not friends, but she's a good person now. But why is she here?”
“Golden, are you okay? What has got you in this mood? Do you need me to call Alex?” Linda asked softly as she took out her phone, ready to place a call.
As if finally awake, Golden immediately reached out and held Linda's hand, stopping her from making the call.
“No. Don't. Please.” she said pleadingly.
“Then you need to tell me what exactly is going on.”
