Chapter 125 Just a plane ticket away
Chapter 125: Just A Plane Ticket Away
“Have you told him?” Alex asked again. She knew how much Golden loved Allan.
And the last time they were a part, their relationship had suffered a significant blow.
“I haven't told anyone yet. You guys are the first people I'm telling. And this isn't just about Allan, it's bigger than that.
It's about everything. It's about leaving where I've called home for the past 23 years.
It's about leaving my family, and my friends.” She paused to look at each of them.
“It's about leaving what's familiar for the unknown. Really I haven't made a decision on whether to go or not.
It's not like I can just pack up a suitcase and leave like that. Agreed it's an amazing opportunity,
The school is one of the best there is. I've known about the school, but I've never dreamed of attending there before.
Honestly I don't know if I'm ready to take this leap. I'm telling you guys because I need clarity and I need advice.
Whatever decision I made with shape the next four years of my life and I don't want it to be a casual one.”
Golden finished and finally looked at her family.
“Then why don't you go visit the school first? I have to be in London next week, we could go together.” Varney said to Golden.
“How long do you have to make a decision?” Fab asked.
“Maybe two months? If everything is in order, I should be resuming in August.”
“Then I think you should go with Varney to London. Explore the campus, the hospital, the city of London.
Just keep an open mind. Who knows, that might be home to you for the next four years.” Fab said smiling.
“We've got you Gigi. Whatever you decide, we stand by it. As for Allan, I think you should talk to him about it after you come back from London.
I believe when you visit London, you will get a clearer perspective. Then you can tell him.
I know what you are afraid of, but it's fine. You will be fine regardless.
Take this nerd for instance, Bri is all the way in Chicago and he has still managed to keep things going smoothly.
What I'm saying is, you will just be a plane ticket away.” Alex said.
“I guess you are right. Thanks guys, I really appreciate it. I feel better and a little lighter now.” Golden said as she heaved a sigh of relief. It felt like a boulder had been lifted off her chest.
A few days later, Allan sent Golden a message. He couldn't get her a ticket to the exhibition because it was a closed event.
Golden didn't mind because she had to be in London anyways. She had made up her mind to at least explore her options.
She had made an appointment with the student advisor of Northbridge School of Medicine and she had agreed to show her around.
Allan: “When is your trip babe?”
Golden: “I leave in the next three days. I'm going with Varney. He has business to deal with so I'll be going as his PA.”
Allan: “Can I come see you tomorrow night? Since you can't make it for the exhibition, I will like to show you all the works I intend to display.”
Golden: “Sure. I will see you tomorrow night. My love to Rema and Tavia.
The following night, Golden met Allan at the Koi pond. It had come to be their favorite spot in the mansion.
Allan didn't come empty handed, he came with some treats for his girl. He knew how much Gigi loved chocolate chip cookies.
“Is that for me?” Golden asked spying the bag in Allan's hand excitedly.
Allan laughed and handed the bag of cookies to Golden. They sat down by the pond and munched on the cookies together.
“Babe I have something to show you.” Golden said hesitantly and handed over a piece of paper to Allan.
It was the scholarship letter she received. She decided to tell Allan what was going on.
She didn't want to keep him in the dark and needed him to be aware of what was going on in her life since he was a part of it.
She watched Allan from the corner of her eyes, trying to gauge his reaction.
Allan collected the piece of paper and opened it. He could feel her hesitation. He opened it and slowly read what was written on it.
As he read the content, his eyes slowly began to light up. His girl had broken bounds again.
Although Golden didn't need a scholarship because she could afford to pay her way through school, this was a testament of her academic prowess.
“Wow Gigi Northbridge School of Medicine. This is really amazing. It's one of the best schools in England. I'm super proud of you.” Allan said as he nudged Gigi with his shoulder.
“You are? I mean thanks.” Gigi said shocked because she wasn't expecting this reaction. She didn't know what to expect, but she certainly wasn't expecting this.
“Well when do you resume superstar?” Allan asked.
“I haven't accepted the offer yet. I am hoping to explore the campus when I go to London. Hopefully I should be able to make a decision when I get back.” Golden said reluctantly.
She didn't know why, but she felt a little sad. She was hoping that Allan would be sad knowing that she might be moving to a whole new continent. So she decided to test him.
“Honestly, I don't know if I want to go. My whole life is here in Florida. Everything I've known all my life up until this moment is here.
My family, my friends, you,” she paused and looked at him. “I don't know if I'm ready to leave all that behind.”
“Oh come here gigi.” Allan pulled Golden into a hug. “We would only be a plane ticket away. Look babe, you are amazing and you have the whole world waiting in front of you.
Florida will always be here so why not explore the rest of the world. I will support whatever decision you make.
You have conquered Florida already, the city of the Queen awaits your conquest Dr. Nixon.”
Golden tightened the hug. It felt like a boulder had been lifted off her shoulder.
“I love you Allan Jefferson Renshaw. Thank you for making this easy.”
