Chapter 109 What exactly are you sorry for?

Chapter 109 What exactly are you sorry for?
Chapter 109: What Exactly Are You Sorry For?

The trio went back upstairs to Rema's ward.

Rema was excited to see Golden and told the game and the level he had reached.

He had been interacting with the review team and they had been glad for the constructive criticisms he had been giving.

Right now he was on difficult level 1 and was trying to get past that stage.

Golden listened to Rema speak and she could see the light in his eyes as he spoke about the game and the levels he had passed.

Allan stayed quietly by the side, cutting up fruits for Rema and silently observing Golden.

He was trying to read her expression and body language to see if there was anything off about her.

He had a gut feeling that Golden may have heard Lindsay, but he wasn't sure.

He felt like he was sitting on pine needles guessing if she had overheard or not.

That feeling of maybe, maybe not was the worst possible feeling ever. If she had, would she talk about it or would she hold it in?

Would she resent him or would she forgive him and let him explain?

If he were to explain the situation, what would he say? The kiss didn't mean anything but would she understand it?

She had asked him if he liked Lindsay and he hadn't responded. What would be her reaction if she knew Lindsay kissed him and he kissed her back?

So many questions, but no answers.

Allan passed the plate of cut up watermelons and apples to Rema. While Octavia reached for a banana instead.

Allan offered Golden some fruits but she declined. She turned towards Octavia and asked her about school.

Allan noticed the subtle passive aggression or maybe dismissal from Golden but wasn't too sure so he decided to keep watching and observing her.

“Errm Allan, what's up with Lindsay? Are you two dating or something?” Rema asked innocently.

Golden froze when she heard Rema.

“She told me she did something to offend you last night and that you are really mad at her.

I think she really likes you too. In fact she's liked you for a while now.” Rema continued as he ate his fruit, unaware of the fuse he had just lit.

“When did she tell you this?” Octavia asked, excited for some gossip.

“When you went out to get something from the second floor. Allan went to the bathroom so we were alone and I don't know why but she began telling me random stuff.”

“Oooh! Let me give you a hot gist. I overheard her say that they kissed last night. I think that's what she might have done that got Allan angry.

Apparently, she kissed Allan first without his permission, but I think he kissed her back because she said he did too. I'm really not sure.”

The twins continued sharing gossips not knowing what they had just done.

Allan almost choked on a grape when Rema started talking and before he could do anything, Octavia joined in and further escalated the situation.

He had been bothered about whether or not Golden had overheard Lindsay. Now thanks to his wonderful siblings, she now knew everything.

Allan felt a sudden fear overwhelm him. He couldn't bring himself to look at Golden.

He felt suddenly guilty and thought of what to say to her.

Golden had been trying hard not to think about the scene she had seen outside the elevator, but Rema and Octavia talking about the whole thing casually sent her spiraling inside.

If she was in denial before, now she was in full blown rage. A rage she was trying hard to quell.

She wasn't going to lose control in Rema's hospital room. After all, he had never acknowledged her before his siblings.

She was in love with him, but she wasn't going to be a fool for him. It was high time he took responsibility for his actions.

Golden took deep measured breaths and slowly calmed her nerves.

She closed her eyes and tried to think of happy things to keep the tears threatening to fall at bay.

She felt Allan reach for her clenched first, but she quietly removed his hand from hers, not wanting to alert the twins.

When she was sure that she was calm enough, she opened her eyes, put on a plastic smile and stood up ready to leave.

“Hey Rema, I have to get going now. I've had a very long day and it's time to turn in for the night.

I promise I'll try to visit again before you are discharged okay?” Golden said softly to Rema as she got up from her seat.

Turning to Octavia she said, “Tavia can you please see me off to the car?”

Before Octavia could respond, Allan got up and moved towards Golden. “I'll see you off.”

Octavia wanted to protest, but she felt a slight tug from Rema. He could read the room and signaled her not to interfere.

Golden didn't want to make a scene so she agreed and said her goodbyes to the twins.

She gave Rema a half hug since he was in bed and Octavia a full hug before making her way to the door.

They walked towards the elevator and Allan pressed the button. They entered and there was an awkward silence between them.

He didn't know how to start the conversation and just wanted to disappear.

They got to the ground floor and they stepped out of the elevator. They walked slowly in silence to the parking lot.

Just before they got to Golden's car, Allan held her hand to stop her.

“Gigi?”

“What is it Allan?” She asked turning to face him.

“I'm sorry Gigi. I'm sorry okay?” Allan said, not knowing what else to say.

“What exactly are you sorry for Allan?” Gigi asked folding her arms and looking at him.

“I. I.... It didn't mean anything I swear.”

“Look Allan, I've had a very long and exhausting day and all I want right now is my bed.

You are not making any sense right now and honestly I don't think I have the willpower to stand and listen to you not say anything meaningful.”

Allan immediately grabbed Golden and hugged her. He didn't want her saying anything.

He was scared she was going to say something terrifying. He had messed up and was yet to figure out how to make amends.

Still he didn't want her saying anything till he figured things out. “Don't be mad please. I'm really sorry Gigi.” He said into the crook of her neck.

“Let go of me Allan. Don't you think you are being unfair right now?” She said in a subtle voice.

“Can we not do this right now? I don't think I have the strength for this. We can talk about this later, but please let me leave with my pride intact.”

Golden gently pushed Allan away, breaking free from his hug.

She quickened her steps and got into her car and without looking back, she drove away.
