Chapter 88

Lyca POV.

"Hey, my little one, it looks like you finally accept who you are..."

I blinked twice to make sure that what I was seeing was real. "Mom, what are you doing?" I asked. Then I stopped and said, "Oh my god, am I dead?" I fell backward and looked at my body.

Arianna laughed and said, "Ha ha ha, you silly girl! Of course you're not dead."

I let out a big sigh of relief and gave my mom a tight hug. "Grandma and Aunt Madison are helping me break the seal on my power, but it looks like a failure. I didn't expect the pain to be so bad, so I gave up." I tried to hide my sadness, but my mother knew me best. She cupped my face and shook her head with a soft smile.

"You're my daughter, and you can get through this simple trial. Remember that the power that causes you pain is yours. All you have to do is claim it. Get rid of all other thoughts and focus on yourself..."

I feel better when I talk to my mom, and her work takes away all my worries. "You're right. I'll never give in to simple pain because I'm a princess."

My mother gave me a smile and helped me stand up. "Remember, Lyca, that you are in charge of your own life. You are a princess and the ruler of your own kingdom. Your father and I will always be by your side, watching every adventure you go on."

Those words make my heart start beating again. "Thank you, mom," I said through tears as my mother's face began to glow and she slowly turned into a dot of light.

My mother's last words to me were, "My little bunny, this is not the end. This is the only beginning." Her light shines all around me and makes me feel warm.

"Welcome back, my little princess," Xavier said, his face soft and his eyes full of comfort.

I only half-smiled at him... When I see Xavier's face, I feel so happy and calm.

I looked around then. I'm already with my grandmother. "I saw my mother there," I said, pointing at Aunt Madison and my grandma, who were sitting in the living room facing each other.

Aunt Madison said in a sad voice, "That's your mother spirit. She gave you all of her remains so you can claim your power."

I couldn't help but ask again, "What do you mean?" Aunt Madison's words didn't make sense to me right away because my mother told me she would always be there for me.

"Your power is too much for your body to handle, so your spirit started to lie. Your mother, however, decided to give you her spirit to fix and help you."

I looked at my grandmother while I tried to figure out what to do... a reply that I didn't understand what she said. What I saw, though, was sadness. "Then let's get her back. Since I already have my power, we should be able to fix her spirit, right?"

"Witches can bring back to life anyone or anything, but your mother can never come back. There is nothing left of her, so she disappears without a trace..."

"Why does my chest hurt so badly right now?" As far as I can tell, I don't have a heart. Then, as I stared into nothing, my eyes started to fill with tears.

Xavier, who was right next to me, hugged me right away and ran his hands down my back. Even though he's not saying anything, Xavier knows that no words can take away my pain. He knows that because he's been there and done that.

Madison said, "Your mother says she will always be by your side," trying to make me feel better.

My grandmother, meanwhile, got up and looked out the window. "The world we live in is full of uncertainty, but did you know that some things will never change?"

When my grandmother turned to me, we all looked at her.

"The only thing that is certain in this world is that nothing is certain. As long as you live, many things can happen, especially in our world; there is something called magic..."

"Is she telling me that there is still a chance I can talk to and see my mother again? can that happen?

"That's right! Our race has some of the most powerful sorcerers in the world, so there's a chance we can bring Arianna's spirit back," said Madison with excitement.

"You heard that? There is still hope," Xavier said in a whisper as he wiped my tears away.

"Can we do this? I have a feeling that once we find my mother, we'll get deeper into the world of witches, and I know you don't want that."

Xavier smiled. "Even if we have to face a bunch of witches or monsters, it's okay as long as we're all together."

Madison said with a big smile, "Sweet! Young hearts are always fun to watch because they are full of hope."

"Huh! That seems stupid to me. If you want to be together, you have to prove that you are the millennial child, or else the love you both have for each other won't mean anything..."

I turned away from Xavier and looked at my grandmother. Before my mother went missing, she told me that my grandmother was one of the most powerful sorcerers in the world.

Aubrey Einstein is related to the original witches. Even though she is strong, she doesn't want to be in charge of all witches. She is happy to stay in her little house and teach other sorcerers.

"There's one thing I need to know," I asked my grandmother as I looked right at her.

"Let me tell you, sorcery is not a joke. If you don't have the guts to do it, don't start."

"All I want to know is, if I can prove that I am the millennial child, do I have to stay here and lead the witch race?" This is my main worry. I don't care about the hard things I'll have to go through; what matters to me is not being tied to a place I don't know.

Madison said with a sneer, "Ha ha ha, you really are a Stone," which was a compliment. "...No one says that the millennial child has to stay here and become a priestess. Only the elder wants that, because if the child stays here, our convent will be safer and stronger."

I looked at Xavier because I wanted to make sure he wasn't being forced to do anything. I want to be sure this is what he wants.

"I'm with you all the way," Xavier promised. "Don't worry, because I'm always here to protect you from any danger."

"Great! Now that everything is taken care of, let's talk about your training," said Madison with a giggle.

"I'll teach her. Lyca power is dangerous. A simple trick won't do..."

"Mom, do you think I'm a sophomore? I've been a master for five years, which is why I can handle her," he said.

"You got that so-called mastery because your master gave up on you!"

"That's not true! My master passed me because he couldn't teach me anymore," Madison said while snorting.

"Mom, I'm not sure I can do this... But you say that you will always help me and keep an eye on me as I live the life I want, and this is the path I chose. I'll bring you back with the help of my family, the Greyfield, and Xavier.

Aunt Madison and grandma have been talking for the last few minutes about how to speed up my learning. Aunt Madison will use the rest of the time while my grandmother teaches me after her class.

"No, ten o'clock! That's when training is over!" says Xavier in a mean way. With his eyes, he made it clear that this decision would not be changed.

"That's crazy! Lyca, talk to your boyfriend! We don't have time to waste!" Madison pouts and opens her eyes wide.

"Aunt Madison, I think it's already late at ten o'clock. You know I'm a princess, and my mother always told me to go to bed early so I could think." After telling her that, I got up to say goodbye.

Aunt Madison could do nothing but make a sad face when my grandmother nodded.
