He turned to look at me and I felt instant relief that he wasn't Damien. He was a lookalike though he was much taller and had a boyish grin. Damien wouldn't smile at me that way.
“So, you're the wife.” He spoke in-between chuckles which sounded too childish for a grown man.
“Obviously.” I retorted although my mouth was watering as I watched him place the eyes into two plates. They looked good and I was about to ask if I could try them when a plate was shoved in front of me.
“You could use one.” His tone was set though he still had that smile dancing on his lips. I didn't care, I dug in and he cackled in delight.
“This is so good.” My words tumbled out in between munching and he shrugged in response as colour seeped up his face. Within seconds, my plate was empty but he still sat opposite me, nibbling at his eyes with extra focus like a mouse. As absurd as it looked, I sat there watching him in silence until Damien walked in on us.
“What's happening here?” He growled, rushing to shove the weird man to his side. “Why were you staring at him like that? What are you planning to do to him?” He continued his eyes darting between the both of us.
“Relax brother. She was just hungry and I offered her some eggs. I made scrambled eggs.” He pointed to his plate of eggs and Damien acknowledged it with a nod, releasing his right grip on his brother's arm.
“I can see that you two have met.” He started awkwardly as he took the sit adjacent to his brother's. Turning to him, he introduced, “Diego meet Sophia. She's the girl I told you about.” He nodded at me then with a cold gaze, he introduced Diego to me who looked more interested in nibbling at his eggs.
“Diego's my brother. He's autistic and a perfectionist. You don't have to deal with him if he's weird to you. Stay away from him and mind what you came here for.” He commanded although his tone was thick with emotions. I could smell the bond from their brotherly love in the air and it warmed my heart more from a place of admiration than need.
“I won't do any of that. I don't also think he's weird.” I quipped as I inched my upper body closer to him in order to whisper in his ears. “Is he always like this?” I nudged my head in Diego's direction and he looked even more childish as he kept separating the eggs and taking tiny pinches into his mouth.
“He's nervous around new people and he's been more recluse ever since I told him about the marriage. He gets like at very rare times…”
“I'm still here, peeps.” Diego chirped in, making Damien and me exchange guilty glances. He must have noticed how I tensed up against Damien's hot gaze, he seemed to be upset with me. “Don't scare her, Damien. She's the only woman who can be with your sorry ass.” He concluded then kissed his teeth, picked up his plate of eggs and headed towards the door after saying, “I'll leave you two newlyweds to fraternize.”
But Damien rushed after him, his face twisted in guilt. Immediately the kitchen doors were shut behind them, I released a long breath. How many more of Damien's secrets did I need to know before he'd agree that he's a soft boy, trying to be hard due to pressure?
I shook my head to steady my thoughts as I picked up my handbag and headed for the door. I had to get some of my belongings because I couldn't bear seeing anyone of my precious hoodies draped over that cheating sister of mine.

“You have no right to be here.” I heard Audrey say immediately after I stepped through the door. A feeling of deja vu hit me unless she didn't look raggedy or starved and obviously had her voice down. My heart twisted as my eyes took in her clothing. She had already started to raid my closet and I wasn't gone for up to 2 full days.
I rushed up to her, seething “And you have no right to wear my clothes, Audrey!” She chuckled whilst twirling a strand of her hair. I stepped back knowing that she only did that to steady herself whenever rage was boiling in her veins.
No one of us wanted to be the first to strike each other.
“You let me do it, remember?” She raised a brow, her voice following suit as well as her chest. “You did when you went out there to tell sweet little lies about your elder sister. When you couldn't be the only whore in the family, you had to rope me into it too…”
“What the hell are you talking about?” I lashed at her, understanding that her pretense was in case any cameras were secretly planted in the house.
Nobody could be trusted, especially our staff. They could easily be bought because they weren't treated well enough by their employers to be loyal. “Fucking tell the truth and stop all of this, it'll take you nowhere. Daddy can get the media off your back but he can't the guilt off your heart!” I fired and her hand whipped across my face but I was quick to lean back and let it slap the air.
She tripped at the effect of my stunt. I couldn't let those filthy hands near my face, I could catch a disease. Sucking in a breath, she steadied herself and got back into her previous standing posture.
“I wouldn't stand here to banter words with you, sis.” Her face twisted at the mention of the last word but I blinked and it was back to being neutral. Pretender!
“But you can never have David again because of how you've humiliated him.” She sneered, inching closer to me until her lips could kiss my pinna. “David said when next I see you, I should tell you how he hated thrusting into you. You weren't as wet as I always am and he'll forever be grateful to you for calling off your sexually frustrating relationship.” She concluded, drawing herself away from me.
Tears wet my cheeks, all the while I was touching my necklace to be sure that the tiny camera with the same color and texture that I had attached to it some minutes ago was well positioned. There! I have another piece of evidence just I'd gotten my father the other time.
Audrey was way too pompous not to shove her affair in my face if she got close enough so all I had to do was keep tabs on her enough to know when my parents wouldn't be in sight and sneak in with something to say. I knew she'd speak, I just needed to pull the right strings.
Taking a deep breath, I heard for the stairs leaving Audrey to grin in triumph. The video and audio will wipe that grin off her face forever.
