DAY 9.2 – The First Jealous

I quickly stand up when I heard a sound of a loud Horn from the main building.

I realized that I wasn’t in our tent, I looked around and everything flashes back what happened last night.

I saw Fred lay in at the ground comfortably and He seems like his sleeping at his house.

I remember giro and I think he’s looking me because I wasn’t there.

I wake up Fred but he seems like he doesn’t get asleep last night.

“Fred! Wake up!”

“Mm”

He said then he turns back to me.

“Fred! WAKE UP!”

I shouted, then He quickly sit down but he’s eyes were not open yet.

“Tsk. Can I have 5 minutes more?”

He mumbled but I pulled him and run faster.

“Wait! Arg!”

He said but I pulled him.

“Tsk, Freeeed! Fix your self okay? When the teacher asks us where we had been. Just say we’ve been jog!’

I stop and I look at him. He’s not responding so I pinch his nose hard

“AH! ENOUGH! Stop! Stop stop!”

He screams.

“Opps! I’m sorry! Let’s go?”

I said when I see his eyes wide open.

I hold his hand and run faster.

I don’t know but my lips curved up a little when I felt his gripped getting tight to my hand.

When we headed on the main building, I saw Mr. delo standing at the water station.

He noticed us so we come close to him.

“I’m sorry sir. We just woke up early so we decided to have a little jog”

Fred said.

He just looked at us and I nodded.

“Okay!”

He said, so we go back to the field.

A lot of student’s are stretching their body, while the other’s seems like walking asleep.

Then we heard the professor speak with his megaphone.

“Okay student! Go back to your group!”

Then they started to go to their own group.

Fred’s hold my hand and walk towards to our group.

The teacher wants us to make four lines together with your partner.

I saw giro at the back so I was about to run at him when I suddenly forgot that he’s holding my hand.

I look at him but he’s just looking at the front keeping my hand.

I feel awkward and looking around as if there’s someone who saw our hands.

I saw Louie scratching his head when he saw our hands are tied.

He headed to giro and talk to him.

Louie puts his arm into his shoulder, I laugh a little when I realized that giro is too high than Louie.

I saw giro with his poker face, Aist maybe he’s getting back of being annoyed.

“Stay here!’

Fred said then released my hand.

I don’t know but I feel something guilt inside of me when I saw giro.

I still looking at giro and he seems he doesn’t know it.

At first his face was just plain and a poker face, but suddenly when he realized I was staring at him, He smiled back.

I look around at my back thinking that I mistook his smile but there’s no one who’s looking in his way, so I turned my face back and waved at him, I smiled when I saw him waving back at me. My guilt went away when I assure that he is okay.

We started in our first activity today. We just had some stretching and exercise to wake up our body.

Our head checked his watch then he faced us.

“Okay guys! It’s already 7 am and I know you guys haven’t done your breakfast, that’s why I’ll giving you some time to find your own food at the forest. Then exactly 8 am in the morning our second activity will start. Are you ready?”

“YES SIR!”

Then we heard his whistle and we run into the forest.

Fred’s take my hands again so I look at him

“Where are we going?”

“We’re finding foods”

He’s sarcastically said.

“I mean, how we can get some foods?”

We headed at the forest and stop for a while, I saw him looking up to the trees.

“What are you trying to do? Catching some birds?”

I ask, He doesn’t respond me and just put a stone.

“Fuck Fred! Are you out of your mind?”

Then I hold his arm, He’s trying to catch birds using a stone?

“What?”

He irritated said.

He took his hand and thrown the stone at the trees.

I quickly sit down at the ground and cover my head.

When I saw something fell at the ground.

It’s a small bag..

He picks it up and gives to me

“What’s this?”

I ask then accept the bag

“there’s a food inside of that, they put it there so we can’t starve, Last year they put 5 pigs around here, we just need to team up just to catch the pig.”

He explained it well.

I opened the bag and there’s a can goods inside the bags.

We headed back in the field after we get those bags.

After we eat we just take a rest for a while.

Then a minute alter we heard a whistle as signed that the second activity will be started.

First Activity: The famous game called “PATENTERO”

It’s a famous street game in the Philippines where it has two groups with 5 members each. It has a big rectangular square were divided into the six square, each line has a keeper to keep the player inside at the box, once the keeper touches any part in the body of a player the game is over.

Mechanics:

Imagine four vertical lines with one horizontal at the centre of those four lines each lines has a keeper, the player must enter at the first line to start the game, it’s either the player wanted to enter at the right side or left side, the five players could also enter in the both side at the same time. They just need to assure that the keeper of each line can’t touch any of them. One of the players needs to enter in all lines and go back to exits, until he go back at the starting line. When he could make it and there’s no one touched by the keeper means they win the game. But when any of them touched by the keeper the game will over.

[Author Notes: Before that, I hope you get the mechanics of this game, all Filipinos are know this game so I hope I write it well and It’s really hard to describe, so I’m hoping that I would give a justice for this chapter.]

“Attention! I know you all knew this game and the game must have 2 rounds. If the two sides were tie, we have to set a final game.”

Our head picks 2 pairs and 2 individual who can play the game.

But Fred raised his hand and voluntarily come at the front.

Suddenly Louie raised his hands also.

The team up turn to like this.

Louie and Fred started to play Rock, Paper and Scissor to know who the players are and who the keepers are.

Fred wins the game so basically we are the players at the first game.

The game is about to start and we’re ready to our own position.

Our head blown his Whistle and the game started.

I enter at the first line but suddenly there’s a keeper at the second line and at the middle.

I was shocked when someone who poked me at the back so I turned around.

I saw Fred smiling at me then he pinch my cheeks.

“Ouch!”

I said, He just chuckled and look around

When the keeper is about to moved to his left side

Fred holds my hand and quickly run to enter at the third line.

I almost shocked when the keeper at the middle followed us, so I’m trying to go back at the second stage when someone pulled my arms.

“Tss. be careful! You almost got caught!’

He said. I just nodded at him and stay where I am.

I saw Louie at the third line and giro at the fourth line,

Giro smiled at me so I smile back.

“Hi Jano!’

Louie said, I feel like He’s serious about this so I Just stay and wait what possible happened.

“Hey Kid! Your Babe!”

Fred said and point at the crowd

Louie turn his head to the crowd so Fred had a chance to move out, He’s about to enter at the fourth lines when Louie turned back and got him.

*PRRRRRT*

Don;t ask me, It’s the sound of whistle.

“1 – 0”

Mr. Delo said.

“Babe your face! Did you forget that I am single? Bleeeee”

Louie said to him trying to annoy him.

“Tss”

The score was given at Louie’s team and now they are the one who play this round.

“Good Job”

Giro said then winked

Is he trying to get on my nerves? Haha cute.

We headed in our position and now our team is a keeper.

Mr. Delo blown his whistle then the game was started.

They enter at the first line. I watch Louie how he quickly entered in the 2 lines, I couldn’t believe him, maybe because his not that kind of tall so he can able to sneak at them easily.

I’m here at the fourth lines so I can watch them, I saw Fred standing at the front and he was like watching them.

Tss.

I saw giro and he easily enter at the 2nd lines. All of them can move freely because Freed wasn’t in the centre.

I go back to my self when I heard Louie.

He’s standing in front of me.

‘Hi Jano!”

He smiled at me. I try my self to reach him but I couldn’t.

I saw Giro is about to enter at the 3rd line, but my eyes became opened when I saw Fred running at the centre towards to giro.

Then the net thing happened, we heard the sound of the whistle.

“All One!”

Mr. Delo announced it.

I saw giro turned back to his back to see Fred while Fred is looking at him and smirked.

I walked towards to Giro simple said “Good Job!”

I said it like teasing him. he pinch my cheeks

“Ouch! Stop it.. ah!”

I said but he just smiling at me so I tried myself to reach his face to pinch him too. But suddenly we heard a loud noise from the whistle of our head.

Then we realized that they just watching us a little bit longer.

I saw Fred in a serious face glaring at me. I ran into him but he just rolled his eyes.

“Tss”

Huh? What happened to him?

When we are ready, we heard again the sound of whistle then we entered at the first line.

I saw Fred run going at the fourth line, psh he didn’t wait me.

I was on the 3rd line and it’s Giro.

He just stares at me wearing his smile.

“Can you let me?”

I said to him then he started to laugh so hard.

I just let him laughing while I’m preparing to sneak out, but suddenly when I’m about to run he stopped laughing and stared at me again.

“No entry!”

He just said then He smirked.

Psh! I saw my other team mates entering freely. Seriously, Am I the only one a player here?

“Hey! Just let me in”

He didn’t respond and just smiled at me. He even fixes his eyeglass to see me clearly. Psh

How competitive huh?

Then we heard the loud sound of whistle

“Mr. Montemayor win!”

I was shocked when I saw Fred in the finish line. Woah,

Very competitive too

Giro congratulates me but I rolled my eyes at him but he pinch my cheeks again.

“How cute!”

I didn’t see Fred anymore so I looked around, I saw him sitting at the other side and sulking his face.

There’s a lot of activity and I joined them with giro. I couldn’t see Fred participating so one time I decided to talk to him but he just snob me.

Aist he’s so moody!

After that activity we headed at the field to have a closing ceremony.

It’s already 3 pm in the afternoon and we preparing to went home.

I saw Fred again and I come closer to him.

“Sir!”

I called him. but he didn’t respond, we are heading to the outside of the school because the camp was over.

“Sir Fred!”

I called him again but he just walks like he couldn’t hear me.

“Sir!”

I called him in the last time, he turned his faced at me like I had something wrong I do, but he quickly change his expression and grabbed my shoulder and pulled into him!

I ended up to his body and again everything went silence and my heart beating so fast.

“Sheez! I told you to careful!”

He indeed, I saw some students running at my way.

“Oh! I-I’m sorry!”

I apologized.

“Tss! Let’s go I want to go home!”

He said then walks faster in the parking lot.

We didn’t see Louie so I guess he headed alone so we get in the car then leaves.

Even at the car, he didn’t talk to me so I just laid my head at the window then closed my eyes.

I wake up and still we’re here at the car. It’s already 6 in the evening and we ended here at the middle of the traffic aist.

I saw Fred like he’s holding his laugh. I just don’t mind them and checked my phone.

A minute later when we stopped in a parking lot at the park, I just looked at him then he said.

“I’m starving, let’s eat”

Then he gets out.

I just followed at him and we entered at the fancy restaurant. And I think it’s very pricy here, a bright Idea came up to my mind and it’s making me craving more to that food so I dragged him there.
