183 They all belonged to me
**Elizabeth's POV**
*
"Dylan! Where are you guys? Isidore! Louis! Elroy! Answer me! Where are you?"
I searched for them in the rising waters, but couldn't find anyone.
The rainstorm got heavier and heavier. The sky seemed to have been torn open by a crack. The rain poured down like a waterfall, and I couldn't even open my eyes.
The sea was rising faster and faster. More and more people and animals fell into the water, screaming for help.
"Help me! Save me!"
"Save my son!"
"Mom-"
"My daughter!"
The whole world has turned into a waterlogged hell. My ears were filled with the desperate wails of everyone on the verge of death.
In contrast, the orange-tailed merman let out a gleeful laugh.
"Hahahaha look at this wonderful scene. This world will become a wonderful utopia. From now on, only noble sea creatures can survive."
"Let the storm come even harder!" He raised his scepter high, causing more dark clouds to tumble and converge overhead.
"Elizabeth! Watch this! You are my best assistant! You should appreciate your merits! Open your eyes! Watch the transformation of this world into a beautiful utopia!"
"No-no-"
I screamed and clutched my head. I couldn't believe this was real.
Did I cause all this?
If it weren't for me, the orange-tailed merman wouldn't have acquired those powerful treasures. His ambition would not have swelled to the point of world domination.
I was the one who caused all this.
Suddenly, the roar of a plane came from above my head.
"Elizabeth! We need to get out of here as soon as possible! The whole continent is about to be flooded!"
Elroy's voice came.
I looked up and saw Dylan and Julian. All six of them were sitting on the plane. It looked like they were safe.
They weren't dead! That's great!
I grinned. But I was only happy for a brief second, and the smile soon faded because I knew that the orange-tailed merman could take their lives at any time.
Not only them, the orange-tailed merman can take the life of anyone at any time.
"Elizabeth! Get on the plane! Let's escape from here!"
They all told me to escape, but where could we escape to?
I looked at the people struggling in the water. Werewolves, vampires, humans, animals. All were forced to run for higher ground by the flood.
But as the water level rose higher and higher, there were fewer and fewer safe places to go.
Everyone's eyes were full of despair. The sea will flood the world. All animals except marine life will have to wait for death.
No, there is nowhere to run.
The plane will run out of fuel one day, and then it will crash, and in the non-stop stormy weather, the castle in the clouds of the winged wolf will be scattered by lightning and gale sooner or later.
There was no place to escape. There was no chance to escape.
This disaster would kill everyone. The sea will gradually flood the valley, the grassland, the forest, the woods, until the whole land...
I caused all this indirectly. I can't run away, I have to face all this.
Those lands I had trod with both feet, those people I had loved with my heart, I would never abandon them.
A huge wave was rushing toward me. The wave was more than ten meters high. The whole sea turned into a monster, opening its giant mouth to swallow me up.
"Elizabeth, get up here! Run!"
Once again, someone told me to run.
Since I was eight years old, I had been told to run. I was obedient. For over a decade, I was either running or ready to run.
But this time, I chose not to run.
I shook my head and said firmly, "I'm not leaving! I will be the first line of defense. I won't die running away, I'll die fighting!"
"My wolf," I called out to it in my mind, "I can feel your presence. Help me! Give me strength!"
My wolf let out a howl to respond to me. I could feel it pouring a constant stream of power into my body.
My body was burning, and the familiar burning sensation reappeared. Flames appeared on my skin, and all the seawater near me was burned into steam.
These flames don't hurt me, they make me feel warm. I could feel that they were well-behaved and they would let me manipulate them.
My body is rapidly getting bigger, I think I'm over 50 feet tall, and I'm still growing. The wings behind me continued to stretch, causing a hurricane of wind with each swipe.
This is not enough. I am not strong enough to compete with the sea.
I raised my head and shouted at the top of my lungs.
"Dear Moon Goddess, if you can hear my prayer, please lend your power to me. I would give my life, flesh, blood, and soul in exchange for saving all the living beings on this continent!"
Even though dark clouds obscured the moon, I knew it was always there.
The orange-tailed merman in the distance heard my prayer, and he sneered coldly, "You're daydreaming. The moon goddess will not help you. The werewolf has lost the love of the Moon Goddess, just as Lycan was abandoned by the Moon Goddess ten thousand years ago!"
"The world will be flooded by the sea! The old, lower creatures will disappear, and new, smarter, and higher ones will be born! Meet your death!"
He laughed arrogantly and raised a larger wave with his scepter.
Suddenly, a ray of light pierced through the dark clouds and shone down from the sky.
It wasn't sunlight, it was a softer and more accommodating moonlight. It formed a column of light that grew larger and larger, completely unaffected by the rainstorm, and shone on my body.
The moment the light touched me, I felt like I was in the arms of my mother. My eyes burst into tears.
The mother's murmured whispers rang in my ears, "Elizabeth, my child, I will lend you strength. You do not need to pledge your flesh and soul; give me your sorrow and pain."
"Go and fulfill your mission. Do what you think is right. The werewolves live or die, it's all up to you."
And then I felt all this light pour into my body. Every cell of my being was nourished.
I opened my eyes, and light shot out of them.
My body was filled with power, and I felt like I could continue to grow bigger.
I gently cupped the boats that the waves had knocked over. They stayed in my hands like toys. The flames on my skin do not hurt them under my control, they just provide them with warmth.
I place the boats behind me, where the wind and waves cannot hit them.
Then I cupped Caleb, Austin, and Brandon, and I placed them on the plane.
I gently pinched the plane containing my mates and placed them on top of the tallest building in the grassland - the royal library.
"Don't worry, everything will be alright," I said to my mates with a smile.
Suddenly, an ancient book and a rusty broken sword flew out from the top of the library.
I looked at them and felt the familiar scent they gave off. I felt that they belonged to me.
The book fell apart page by page. The paper cracked into pieces, hovered around me like butterflies, and then flew into my brain piece by piece.
Countless words flooded into my mind, and I saw accounts of Lycan, of Lycan's fate 10,000 years ago.
Is this what my previous life, Isabella, experienced 10,000 years ago?
Ten thousand years ago, Isabella hated the world that only gave her harm. When Lycan faced a devastating disaster, she did not choose to save it.
In the end, Lycan became extinct, and Isabella became the last Lycan in the world; she chose to commit suicide, ending her tragic and short life.
The rusty broken sword is what she used to kill herself. It flew into my hand, and under the infusion of my power, the rust faded away and grew in size. It gradually returned to its appearance of 10,000 years ago, sharp and beautiful.
There were two notches in the hilt like something was supposed to be set there.
Suddenly, I heard the orange-tailed merman shouting, "No! No! Don't leave me!"
I saw the purple crystal on top of his scepter fly out. He scrambled to reach out and grab it. He got it. But the green crystal set in the necklace he had around his neck also flew out. This he did not have time to catch.
My sword made a buzzing sound, like it was calling to its child. As if magnetically sucked over, the green crystal flew to the hilt of my sword and embedded itself perfectly in one of the notches.
"Aaaaahhhh-no!"
The orange-tailed merman let out a wail of pain. Only to see the purple crystal pierce through his palm and fly toward me. It ended up embedded in another notch in the hilt of the sword.
The golden feather also flew toward me and embedded itself in my wings, and in an instant, my wings turned golden.
I recalled everything. These things all belonged to me. They had belonged to Isabella 10,000 years ago, and now they belong to me.
The storm stopped, and the body of the orange-tailed merman was rapidly getting smaller. He was as weak as an ant in my eyes.
However, the huge waves he had raised earlier could no longer be withdrawn, and they were still closing in on me.
No, to be precise, they were approaching everything behind me that I wanted to protect.
I raised the sword in my hand high, the flames spreading from my skin to the entire blade.
"No more steps forward. Drop dead!"
I yelled and swung my sword hard at the tens of meters high waves.
A huge flame erupted from my sword, and all the seawater that came in contact with the flame turned into steam. The tens-of-meter-high wave was split into two halves by the flame.
"No - no - this can't be - this can't be real - the waves are impossible to be split by a sword-" the orange-tailed merman yelled like a maniac, refusing to accept this fact.
But he had to accept it.
The flame continued to expand, and it opened a wide path in front of me. It was still spreading forward. Not only were the waves splitting, but the sea ahead of me was also splitting, revealing the land at the bottom of the charred sea.
"No--" With the miserable scream of the orange-tailed Merman, the flames swept him up, turning him into char in an instant.
The flames spread all the way to the opposite side of the sea, which stopped burning and was gradually extinguished by the water.
The surrounding seawater filled the gap burnt out by the flames, and the sea level gradually dropped.
I felt the power gradually depart from my body. The light shining on my body gradually disappeared.
I looked upward and noticed that the dark clouds had cleared. The light did not disappear, it just merged into the other light.
The light was expanding. The whole world was enveloped in light.
The black sea shone with a golden light under the sun.
I gently scooped up those who fell into the water and put them on the grassland. Meanwhile, my body was slowly shrinking.
My mates landed by plane from the top of the library, and instead of coming to my side immediately, they directed the rescue efforts.
That is great. They understand me well. I didn't need their help, I needed their help in rescuing others.
That ancient book made everything clear to me. Elroy did not lie to me. I was the selected tester. The moon goddess had placed me in this world, and my mission was to experience the love and hate that the world gave me.
If what I feel in this world is hatred, despair, and sadness, then I will be fated to bring endless disasters and misfortunes to all werewolves until all werewolves perish.
If what I feel in this world is love, forgiveness, and happiness, then I will bring permanent peace and luck to all the werewolves.
I think that hate, despair and sadness, love, forgiveness, and happiness, I have felt them all.
All the hatred has been accepted and forgiven by me.
All the love I will also receive and be grateful for.
I looked to my nine mates.
As much love as they give me, I will return the same love to them.
We smiled at each other across the shimmering sea in the sunlight.
