Chapter 89 - Hour 89
Zayd, Cara, and I waited in the hospital corridor. Liana was being treated in the emergency room.
I had introduced Cara and Zayd to each other. Even though Cara had attended our wedding, I had not made any introductions that day.
Seth was currently dealing with the police and the press. I knew that we all would have to answer many questions, too, but right now, Liana was our main priority.
Zayd had not called his parents yet and neither had I called mine. They all must be anxious and worried after seeing the news. But Zayd and I had decided to explain everything to them soon… face to face. Phone calls would only create more tension and leave many things unsaid.
I don't know how mum-in-law will react. Ryan has destroyed her heart.
Soon, a nurse and a doctor came out of the ward.
"We will need you to sign a few consents. The patient has to be taken in for an emergency cesarean section. I have called up the Obstetrics department. The patient will be shifted into their operation room now," said the doctor.
"E–Emergency?" I said. "Is she fine? Is she in danger? What about the baby?"
"The baby seems distressed. We cannot be sure," he said. "Please sign the form quickly. What relation do you have with the patient?" he asked me.
Zayd spoke up. "She's an orphan. She is carrying my brother's child, but they are not married."
The doctor sighed and after a few minutes of contemplation agreed to let Zayd sign the papers.
