Chapter Sixty Eight
Chapter Sixty Eight
Elliot
I was surprised he didn’t ask me about that earlier.
I knew when first hearing it he wasn’t going to understand. So, I waited patiently to see if he was going to ask me about our son’s name and where I thought the idea of it. “You know that cyan is a color right?”
He nods, “Yes, I’m aware of that fact.”
“Well, it’s a type of blue to be exact.”
“Yeah, but I don’t understand why you named our kid after a color.”
I reach down to grab my necklace of our halved stone. “See the colors here? It has purples and blues going through it, but if you look very closely, right in the center before the crystals begin to appear you’ll see a bright blue, the color of-”
“Cyan.” He whispers, looking at the stone.
I nod slowly. “Yeah, when laid on our chests the center is closest to our hearts and the stone is not only a symbol of our friendship, but also a symbol of our deep bond. I wanted to name our child something that meant something to the both of us, something that will always connect us together.”
I wasn’t sure it that sounded cheesy to him or not, but it didn’t matter to me because it was a special reason for the name chosen. But what he says surprises me in the best way.
“I love that. It’s the perfect name to give him.”
I grin. “It is, isn’t it?”
“Did you give him a middle name?”
“Everett, after my father.”
“Cyan Everett Besson. It has a nice sound to it.”
“It actually does, better than Cyan Everett Lowery, which is his current name.”
“Until it’s changed.” He presses making me chuckle.
Sleep was beginning to take over as my entire body relaxes. He pulls me closer, kissing my forehead as he whispers, “Once this is all over Elli, let’s get married.”
“Hmm, only if I get the last name Besson too.” My eyes droop while he softly and slowly grazes my back with his fingertips.
“I guess it’s time for the world to know the truth. When we change our son’s name, I’ll get mine changed too. Then we can have a huge wedding where all three of us will be Bessons’.”
I sigh contently not able to hold off any longer as sleep completely takes over the feeling of rightness swimming through my veins as my world finally becomes whole again.
For the next week everything seemed to be falling into place. We move in with Lincoln officially as he paid off the rest of my lease. My father didn’t seem to have any complaints while he happily helped move everything in the mansion. One day I questioned him about it.
“It’s not that I didn’t like the way things were before. It’s just that Cyan finally has his father and the boy should be in a home that has both his parents in. Besides, being here…you both get to be taken care of properly.”
“And?” I press because I knew there was more to it than just that.
He sighs at me. “Elliot, I’ve watched you for years yearning for that boy. Watched your belly grow with his child and watched you struggle without him. I know how hard it was for you, especially raising the little one on your own. You may not realize it, but you have been glowing since Lincoln has been back in your life. I haven’t seen you this happy and stress free since we’ve lived here all those years ago.”
My heart constricts at his words.
“But also, the threats…It made me worried that you two weren’t going to be protected. Now with Lincoln present the risk of anything bad happening is less likely to happen.”
And there it was. I knew it was something like that. My father always had my best interests at heart. I couldn’t fault him for that. And as the days progressed, me busy with school, Cyan learning and getting familiar with his family, everything just felt like as it should have been all along.
I also told both Cameron and Tristan about our engagement.
“He proposed to you?!” They both stated together, shock on their faces that I couldn’t help laughing at the ridiculousness of it.
“In a way, yes.”
“I can’t believe it.” Cameron whispers.
“Why?” I frown.
“No, I don’t mean it like that. It’s just I guess I never imagined he would get married much less actually propose to someone. He’s always been standoffish and guarded. It’s still sinking in that to him you’re different, you know?”
I completely understood what he meant. “I know. In fact, I’m sure you’re going to see a whole new side of him no one but me has ever seen before.”
“I can’t believe it! We’re going to be brother in laws!” Tristan exclaims happily, suddenly rushing me with a hug.
For a while we talked about the wedding and the engagement announcement since Lincoln told me that morning after my first stay in the house that he planned to tell the tabloids about it.
“I just want to get it over with now instead of keeping it secret and them finding out later trying to invade our privacy to get all the juicy details.”
“Regardless they’re going to do that anyways, with or without mentioning it.”
It was still up in the air on how we wanted to announce it. But while all this was happening nothing beats watching my two favorite men bonding. Everyday Lincoln takes it upon himself to take Cyan to preschool. At first I was nervous on people finding out that he had a son, but Lin shot that down real quick.
“I’m not going to hide him. Let the world see. And let them speculate. If they ask I’ll tell them exactly how it is. He’s my son, deal with it.” He shrugs when I voiced my concern.
Hearing those words filled me with such joy and love that I attacked him right then and there and I was nearly late for my first class.
They did everything together. As soon as Lincoln came home from doing his job for the corporation Cyan was the first to greet him. My son’s aura has never been so bright before. Whatever he wanted Lin got it for him. Something we definitely needed to have a discussion on but for now I let it slide.
We also continued watching the videos of Cyan growing up. All three of us would stay in that theater room for hours, not once getting tired of watching. Sometimes the others joined us. Shiri and Zachary constantly asking questions about Cyan.
It was the best time of my life.
