Chapter Sixty One

Chapter Sixty One
Elliot

“You haven’t stopped watching them ever since he took him out there.” Cameron comes up next to me as I stare out the giant window facing the front yard.

I stood there with my arms crossed, watching Lincoln show Cyan around the grounds. I would have joined them but a huge part of me wanted the two of them to be alone. I know Lincoln would never do anything that would put Cyan’s safety in danger. And honestly, watching the two of them has been something I didn’t know I needed. Cyan could be quite the chatterbox and sometimes it got on people’s nerves when he wouldn’t stop asking question after question.

But Lincoln didn’t seem to mind at all. He was patient with him as he answered every single one to his best knowledge. They had walked hand in hand while he pointed at different things to show him. Now he was holding him in his arms as he helps him reach for an apple that was growing on one of the trees they had in the front. I could stand here and stare at them all day. I had hoped this day would come and now that it’s finally here…

I look over to Cameron, who was watching them as well, and say, “I’m still trying to soak it in that it’s finally happening.”

“It’s still hard to believe that Lincoln has a kid and by you of all people.” He genuinely sounded shocked. “Oh, I’m not saying that in a bad way. It’s just growing up all I ever heard were rumors of Lincoln’s horrible character. More than half the population was terrified of him, some still are. For the first few years being in this family it was still hard for me to drop my guard around him. But it slowly sunk in that he wasn’t like anything those rumors stated. But it’s still hard to grasp him having a kid when he was so against it with Han. Seems you’re the exception.”

I couldn’t help smiling at that. “No one really knew how Lincoln was. He hid himself pretty well while growing up.” I softly state.

“You seemed to have known better though. Never knew the two of you were best friends since you were really young.”

“I didn’t see what everyone else saw. And becoming friends I don’t think he ever really wanted to hide his true self with me. It just made me fall in love with him even more.”

“Yeah, that part I’m still trying to get used to as well. I get why you didn’t tell me and Tristan, and it makes sense of why you never could come to our events, but it makes me wonder Elliot if meeting us was a fluke or intentional.”

I tense a little. Never put it past Cameron to figure things out. Tristan doesn’t think the way he does and probably would have never even noticed that little fact, but not him. He thought this through trying to make sense of everything. I had lied to them. And getting to know them for the last six months makes me not want to lie to them anymore.

“I owe you and Tristan an apology.” I whisper, looking down at the ground feeling ashamed.

“Yeah, you do. I talked to Tris before coming over here and we both agreed on something.” He bluntly states making me look up at him.

He was facing me now, his arms crossed just as mine were. “We decided all is forgiven if you tell us the truth on whether you actually see us as your friends. We feel kind of used you know. And now that everything is out in the open we want to know if what we thought we had is still the real thing or not.”

“Of course it is!” I quickly admit, my heart hammering at the thought of losing either of them. “It may have started out that way but within days of knowing you both I’ve already come to terms that I need you both in my life. With or without Lincoln. I didn’t realize how much I needed another friend. A real friend who actually saw my worth and who is as loyal as the two of you. I’m sorry I never told you the truth about Lincoln. I’m sorry I never mentioned that I had a son. There were so many times where I wanted to tell you both. I was just scared because I wasn’t ready.”

“I’m glad it’s out in the open now. I don’t like secrets. I hate the way we had to find out, but…” Tristan comes to stand on my other side, giving me a tender smile. “Maybe it’s the motherhood in me but I feel an overprotectiveness with you, and I want us to be friends, the best of friends.”

“Yeah, us Omegas have to stick together after all. Especially when it comes to these hotheaded, overbearing Alphas we all call mates.” Cameron rolls his eyes with a smile of his own.

I wince on the empathize of Omegas. “I’m also sorry I never told you my secondary gender.”

“That was a bit of a shock actually. You never displayed the scent of one.”

“And you never reacted to mine when I leaked out my pheromones on purpose. How did you do that anyways?” Cameron looked a little confused.

I sigh heavily, looking back out the window where Lincoln was now heading towards the front door with Cyan still in his arms, happily chewing away on the apple as he continued to talk animatedly.

“It’s quite a story to be honest. And a very unexpected one. Would you guys believe me if I told you I didn’t even know I was one until the day I found out I was pregnant with Cyan? All my life I thought I was a Beta and suddenly I was so sick that I needed to see the doctor just for him to tell me I was having a baby.”

“Seriously?” Tristan looked just as shocked as I felt when the words spilled out of the doctor’s mouth.

“Dead serious. It was definitely a custom to getting used too. To this day I still hardly have pheromones or even heat cycles. They just come and go like the wind and never last more than maybe an hour if that.”

They both stare at me with surprise. “I wish I had it that easy.” Cameron mumbles.

“Absolutely not. I love your pheromones. They drive me wild in the best way.” Sia comes up to him, wrapping an arm around his waist as he leans into his neck to inhale his scent like he couldn’t help it.

“Behave yourself you beast. You’ve already planted your seed and I’m too far along with your kid for your woes of seduction.” He chastises as he pokes him in the gut.

“You weren’t whining about it this morn-umpf!” He doubles over as Cameron punches his stomach to shut him up.

“Do you not see the way he treats your cousin?” He moans to Tristan, rubbing his belly in false pain.

Tristan shakes his head. “Nope, you brought that onto yourself Sia. You’re no better than Axel. I sympathize with Cameron here.”

“I agree. You Alphas know no boundaries.” I play along just for Sia to mumble as he walks away,

“Omegas. Great now there’s four of them.”

Lincoln walks in the room just then, frowning at Sia as he continues to mumble to himself. Cyan lays his head on his father’s shoulder, rubbing his eyes telling me it was near his nap time, his half eaten apple nearly falling out of his hand. I quickly reach them and take the apple before it fell.

“Someone is ready for a nap.” I say gently, blushing since Lincoln wouldn’t stop staring at me.

And before I knew it we had the room to ourselves.
